Armond, portrayed by Murray Bartlett (for which he won an Emmy), is the suave resort manager at the White Lotus in Hawaii. Tasked with catering to very demanding guests, his professional composure begins to crack under the pressure. The main catalyst for his undoing is a bitter, escalating feud with an entitled guest over a booking error, which pushes Armond to his emotional limits.
Overwhelmed by the mounting stress, Armond breaks five years of sobriety and spirals into heavy drug use after acquiring a pouch of stolen narcotics. His behavior grows increasingly reckless and erratic, ultimately costing him his position at the resort. In a final act of petty revenge, Armond sneaks into a guest's suite to defecate in his luggage, only to be surprised when the guest returns unexpectedly. Mistaking Armond for a dangerous intruder in the dark, the guest fatally stabs him, bringing the manager's unraveling to a sudden and violent end.

Nicole is very driven, polished, and fiercely devoted to maintaining her ideal lifestyle, though her controlling nature often alienates those around her (including her family).
Throughout her stay at the resort, Nicole struggles to manage her dynamic with her husband Mark, who is reeling from personal insecurities, and her cynical teenage daughter Olivia. Demanding absolute perfection from the hotel staff, Shane's childish nature quickly alienates his new wife, Rachel, who begins to realize she may have married someone she did not particularly like.
Throughout his stay, Shane's preoccupation with winning his "war" against the manager eclipses his marriage, culminating in his mother intervening to escalate his complaints until the manager is fired. On his final night at the resort, Shane discovers an intruder in his suite; unaware it is the manager breaking in to get revenge, Shane panics and fatally stabs him with a fruit knife in self-defense. Escaping legal consequences for the accidental killing, Shane prepares to depart Hawaii, where a resigned Rachel chooses to stay with him despite her deep misgivings.

Driven by a mix of misplaced idealism and resentment toward the Mossbachers, Paula convinces Kai to steal some expensive jewelry from Nicole's suite to help fund his family's legal battle for their ancestral land. However, the heist goes terribly wrong when the family returns unexpectedly, resulting in Kai's arrest and devastating consequences for his life. After Mia seduces her as a gesture of gratitude and affection, Valentina experiences a breakthrough moment of self-acceptance, letting go of some of her rigid defense mechanisms. Throughout his stay, Dominic struggles to shield his innocent son from his vices while attempting to reconcile with his wife over the phone. His attempts to buy his way out of trouble backfire when Albie discovers his infidelities and uses the knowledge to leverage a big monetary payment from Dominic to help a local sex worker. As the week unfolds, Lucia creates a clever scheme. She introduces herself to her customer's son as a victim threatened by an aggressive local pimp. As his story unfolds, it is revealed that Rick came to Thailand seeking closure and revenge against Jim Hollinger, the resort owner's husband, whom Rick believes murdered his father when he was a child.
