"The Addams Family Meets a Beatnik" Quiz

Morticia is painting the gravedigger scene from "Hamlet" and has Uncle Fester posing with a skull and a shovel. The skull happens to be Wednesday's piggy bank, which is full of change, making Uncle Fester wonder why Wednesday never spends her money.

Gomez didn't think it sounded right, so he suggested they all go for a look and they came upon a young man who had crashed his motorcycle onto the front lawn. He woke up and the first thing he saw was Wednesday's skull bank that Uncle Fester had been holding... and he promptly passed out again.

The Addamses find the words amusing, and they're excited to be learning a new language. At one point, he says "Dig?" to mean "Do you understand?" and Wednesday replies "Only graves." Gomez said Rocky turned a colorful phrase and that he and Morticia were fascinated by the study of language.

Morticia and Gomez don't seem bothered that he's yelling at the person on the other end of the phone and comment that their house has been so lively since he arrived. Gomez is fascinated by Rocky's language and is even excited that it's rubbing off on the children.

Morticia asks for hot oil, rope, and leeches. Gomez asks Lurch to dust off the rack. They end up putting him in the pillory - Gomez said it was great to make sure he rested his knee.

When Rocky first meets Uncle Fester, he's wearing a welding helmet because he had just fixed the cracked frame of the motorcycle. Later on, we see Uncle Fester working on it to restore it to working order.

But when Rocky starts out the front door, he sees his father looking for him and goes back into the house. Wednesday and Pugsley, covering for Rocky, tell Rocky's dad that they didn't see anyone *riding* a motorcycle (because when they saw Rocky, he had already crashed it) and Rocky repays the children by playing hand grenades. After all, Pugsley said it would be a blast!

Gomez was the one who realized that Rocky was the son of a big businessman and had Lurch get Rocky's motorcycle registration to see if his hunch was correct. Morticia noticed it was Rocky's birthday and decided to hold a party, insisting that Rocky's father be invited.

From the moment he set foot in the house, Rocky's father disliked the Addamses. And he disliked their plan of him hiding behind a plant to surprise Rocky even more. (He only agreed because Lurch was very convincing.) But Rocky's father said the Addamses accepted Rocky as he was and realized he had been wrong all along. With his father acknowledging he had been wrong, Rocky decided to go home and gave Wednesday his coat, Pugsley his hat, and Uncle Fester his motorcycle.

As Rocky left, Gomez said "Something fine and gracious has gone out of our lives."

In the final scene, Gomez was reading the headlines to Morticia and he revealed that Rocky had joined his father's firm. Morticia remarked that Rocky had his feet planted firmly on the ground - just like Gomez. (Gomez was standing on his head at the time.)
