Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Mandalorian, Din Djarin

Answer: Pedro Pascal

Din Djarin, known by most just as "The Mandalorian, was a foundling, rescued by Mandalorians when his planet fell under siege by the droid army of the Confederacy. His parents hid him from the droids before they were killed, but his hiding place proved insufficient. The droids found him, but before they could execute him, they were destroyed by a group of Mandalorians, who took Din Djarin in as one of their own. Din Djarin finds Grogu, a being the same species as Jedi Master Yoda, and protects him on their journey across the galaxy.

There are a handful of actors who portray Din Djarin on screen, but the one who is credited most is Pedro Pascal. Pascal gained fame as Oberyn Martel on the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones." His role as Din Djarin gained him fame from a fanbase that was desperate for a successful addition to the "Star Wars" saga after Lucas sold the rights to Disney. Many were unsatisfied with the so-called 'sequel' trilogy, but were pleasantly surprised by "The Mandalorian," due in large part to Pedro Pascal's portrayal of the lead character.
2. Greef Karga

Answer: Carl Weathers

Greef Karga was the Master of the Nevarro Bounty Hunters Guild. He distributed bounties to the hunters who called Nevarro their base, including Din Djarin. After Din Djarin rescued Grogu from the hands of the Imperial Client, the Empire took over Nevarro. That forced Karga to team up with Din Djarin to liberate the planet. After they succeeded, Karga was named Magistrate of Nevarro.

Carl Weathers was a college football star and member of the Oakland Raiders. After he retired from football, Weathers got his start in acting, with his big break coming with his role as Apollo Creed in the 1976 blockbuster "Rocky." His role as Rocky's adversary turned friend was one he returned to in the sequels to "Rocky."
3. Bo-Katan Kryze

Answer: Katee Sackhoff

Bo-Katan Kryze was first seen in the animated series "The Clone Wars," along with her sister, Satine Kryze, the Duchess of Mandalore. Satine Kryze ruled Mandalore through peace, while Bo-Katan stood by the war-torn history of the planet. After Satine was killed, Bo-Katan felt even more strongly that Mandalore could only be ruled with a firm hand. She made her live-action appearance rescuing Grogu and Din Djarin from pirates. She befriended Din Djarin and aided him in protecting Grogu.

Katee Sackhoff gained fame during her time in the sci-fi series "Battlestar Galactica." She not only played Bo-Katan Kryze in "The Mandalorian," but she also voiced her in both "The Clone Wars" and "Rebels" animated series. She also made a cameo appearance in two episodes of the hit series "The Big Bang Theory."
4. The Armorer

Answer: Emily Swallow

The Armorer was an unnamed female Mandalorian who turned raw beskar steel into armor and weapons for those in the Mandalorian covert on Nevarro. She was the leader of "The Tribe," a sub-clan of the "Children of the Watch," an ancient faction of Mandalorians. She wasn't just a great metalworker for the covert she led, she was a formidable warrior, like all Mandalorians worth their salt.

Emily Swallow is a jack-of-all-trades of sorts, with her filmography full of mostly guest appearances in television and voice work in video games. Her most notable work before "The Mandalorian" was her recurring role on the series "The Mentalist." She also reprised her role as The Armorer in the follow-up series "The Book of Boba Fett."
5. Cara Dune

Answer: Gina Carano

Cara Dune was a native of Alderaan and a member of the Rebel Alliance. She was a shock trooper for the Rebellion, and after the war, she became a mercenary. She allied with Greef Karga and Din Djarin in protecting Grogu from the remnants of the Empire. Eventually, Dune became Marshall of Nevarro, working for Karga during his time as Magistrate.

Gina Carano was a former MMA fighter turned actress, known for her work in "Deadpool" and "Fast and Furious 6." After some questions arose about her personal beliefs, she was removed from "The Mandalorian" by Lucasfilm. Despite that removal, her time as Cara Dune was seen as an inspiration to many.
6. IG-11

Answer: Taika Waititi

IG-11 was a bounty droid that was a member of the Guild on Nevarro. He was given the same tracking information to Grogu that Din Djarin had. The two worked together to infiltrate the location where Grogu was being held. IG-11 was told the target should be executed, while Din Djarin was told to bring the target in alive to the Empire. Given Grogu's age and helplessness, Din Djarin shot IG-11 through his central processor before he could execute Grogu.

IG-11 was later salvaged by Kuiil and repurposed as a caretaker droid. Kuiil reprogrammed IG-11 to serve and protect. In the process, the droid was given an updated designation as IG-12. When the Empire closed in on the group in the lava flats, IG-12 placed himself at the center of the Imperial forces and detonated his self-destruct, eliminating the Imperial forces, allowing the rest of the group to escape.

IG-11 was voiced by Taika Waititi, who is known for his work in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe," also owned by Disney. He has spent time as writer, director and, actor in multiple MCU movies, including "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Thor: Love and Thunder." He also directed a season one episode of "The Mandalorian."
7. Kuiil

Answer: Nick Nolte

Kuiil was a male Ugnaught who worked a farm on the out-of-the-way planet of Arvala-7. He went to Arvala-7 seeking peace and quiet, but after criminal activity centered around Grogu arrived on the planet, Kuiil's quiet life was disrupted. After the Mandalorian Din Djarin arrived to seek out Grogu, Kuiil aided him in his search. Kuiil also reprogrammed the bounty droid IG-11 to serve and protect. Both of them together did indeed protect Grogu, Kuiil giving his life in the process.

Nick Nolte's career began in 1969 over a series of both television and film appearances. Nolte has been nominated for and won several awards in his illustrious career. He won an Oscar for Best Actor in the 1991 film "The Prince of Tides," the 1997 film "Affliction," and for the 2011 film "Warrior." His role as Kuiil put him into the "Star Wars" universe, where he voiced the character for "The Mandalorian" and for the Lego counterpart.
8. Peli Motto

Answer: Amy Sedaris

Peli Motto was the mechanic at the Mos Eisley Spaceport on Tatooine that Din Djarin and Grogu visited on more than one occasion when their ship, the Razorcrest, needed repairs. Always accompanied by her loyal pit droids, Motto always knew how to extract just a few more credits out of her paying customers, but always did the repair work well. Din Djarin left Grogu with Motto on a couple of occasions when the two visited the planet on business, and Motto grew quite fond of the little one, and very protective!

American comedian Amy Sedaris has many acting credits to her name as well. She had roles in two 2003 fan favorites, "School of Rock," where she starred alongside Jack Black, and the holiday cult classic, "Elf" with Will Farrell. Her role of Peli Motto in the "Star Wars" universe was one she also played in "The Book of Boba Fett."
9. Fennec Shand

Answer: Ming-Na Wen

Fennec Shand was the female bounty hunter Din Djarin encountered on Tatooine, who later became the right-hand to Boba Fett when he claimed Jabba the Hutt's old title as Daimyo of Mos Espa. After being shot and left for dead in the Tatooine sands, Shand was rescued and restored to health by Boba Fett, who saved her life by implanting cybernetics into the damaged portion of her abdomen. In repayment for this, she devoted herself to being Fett's right hand during his rule of Mos Espa. Fett insisted on ruling Mos Espa through respect, not fear like his predecessors, Jabba the Hutt and his right hand, Bib Fortuna, whom Fett dispatched to claim the title of Daimyo himself. Shand didn't always agree with Fett on his ruling style, but she stayed by his side, serving and protecting him, and aiding Din Djarin along the way.

Ming-Na Wen is a Disney legend, having roles all across the Disney universe. Her big break with Disney began when she voiced the title character in the animated classic, "Mulan." She also played the role of Agent Melinda May in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." She completed the Disney trifecta when she joined the "Star Wars" universe as bounty hunter Fennec Shand. Her role of Shand spanned three series: "The Mandalorian," "The Book of Boba Fett," and "The Bad Batch" animated series.
10. Moff Gideon

Answer: Giancarlo Esposito

The main antagonist of "The Mandalorian" is Moff Gideon, a former agent of the Imperial Security Bureau. After the fall of the Empire, Gideon became a Moff, and led an Imperial remnant to keep what was left of Palpatine's legacy intact. Before becoming a Moff, Gideon led the battle known as the "Night of a Thousand Tears," a purge of Mandalorians on their home world of Mandalore. In the process, Gideon obtained the ancient Darksaber, a black-bladed lightsaber created by Mandalorian Jedi Tarre Vizsla.

Moff Gideon pursued Din Djarin after he rescued Grogu from the Imperial forces. Gideon intended to use Grogu's Force ability wired into his DNA to create Force-sensitive Dark Troopers, giving Gideon's Imperial force a tremendous advantage. Gideon was unable to fully complete his plan, despite capturing Grogu, as Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze tracked them down and liberated Grogu from Gideon's clutches...with the timely arrival of Luke Skywalker, who defeated Gideon's Dark Troopers. Skywalker took Grogu to be trained as a Jedi, leaving Gideon's plans unfulfilled, and the Moff captured by the New Republic.

Giancarlo Esposito's career spans movies, television, and video games. Along with his portrayal of Moff Gideon in "The Mandalorian," his voice work was used for Moff Gideon in the Lego counterpart. Esposito is best known for his role in the hit series "Breaking Bad," and for the 1995 crime film "The Usual Suspects." He also portrayed one of the lead characters in the video game "Far Cry 6," one of the most notable games within the famous series.
