Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first drink I ordered was from "BioShock Infinite" and was called Vigor. The bartender said it might be difficult to get the key ingredient. What animal's ADAM (chemical that can rewrite genetic material) is utilized in the recipes?

Answer: Sea slug

A Vigor is a drink in the floating city of Columbia in the game "BioShock Infinite". There are eight different kinds of Vigors in the city, and they can also be purchased at vending machines. Each offers a different effect. These range from being able to levitate an enemy to having a murder of crows attack someone.

The main ingredient in the drinks is a think, green liquid that is harvested from a special sea slug. This underwater mollusk is used to gather ADAM which is then used to create Vigors. The company that made the drinks, Fisk Manufacturing, markets them as energy drinks, domestic aids, and self defense tools. The slogan is "A Life With Vigor Is A Life That's Bigger!".

"BioShock Infinite" was created by Irrational Games and runs on Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.
2. I next asked the bartender for a glass of Chateau Romani that I had seen in one of the "Legend of Zelda" games. In a few minutes, he served it to me. What kind of drink is it?

Answer: Milk

Chateau Romani is a very expensive vintage milk that is made from the best cows on Romani Ranch in the game "Majora's Mask" which is part of the "Legend of Zelda" series. It is sold at the Milk Bar, which is a members-only establishment. The two drinks offered at that venue are regular milk at 20 Rupees, and Chateau Romani at 200 Rupees per drink.

One of the main characters in the game, Link, uses the drink to refill his life energy and magic meter. He can also get this expensive milk for free if he performs certain functions. As Chateau Romani has been known to make some people a bit tipsy, it is rumored to be a form of Kumis which is a fermented milk.

"Majora's Mask" in the "Legend of Zelda" series was developed by Nintendo and runs on the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube.
3. The next drink I requested was from the earlier versions of the game "Fortnite". It was an Epic item that helped recover one's health and shield. What was the name of this liquid that was rumored to have been made with toxic waste?

Answer: Slurp Juice

Slurp Juice, in the game "Fortnite", was an Epic consumable that granted health. If health was full, it granted shield. It was found in chests, supply drops, vending machines, and supply llamas. Because different goods (such as Slurpfish) can have the same effect, the Slurp Juice was vaulted in Chapter 2 of the game.

The juice was manufactured by a company called Slurp Co in a big factory that was near the Slurpy Swamp. It had a blue glow to the liquid and was rumored that ingredients consisted of toxic waste or swamp mushrooms.

"Fortnite" was developed by Epic Games and the online video game can run on a series of platforms such as Windows, MacOS, PlayStation, and Xbox.
4. I asked the bartender for a cola that I'd seen in the "Fallout" game series. He chose a flavor for me and I drank the rather flat and warm product. What is the name of it?

Answer: Nuka-Cola

In the "Fallout" games, Nuka-Cola was introduced in the year 2044 before the Great War. Although unhealthy (for example, it has 120% of the recommended amount of sugar), it is extremely popular. It is made from seventeen fruit essences, a ton of sugar, excessive caffeine, and coloring. It comes in various flavors such as cherry, grape, and orange.

Although the drink is in fountains and cans, its bottle is what most people request. Even the Nuka-Cola caps are found throughout the game in advertisements or memorabilia. A phrase associated with their marketing is "Have a Nuke".

"Fallout" was developed by Interplay Productions and run on DOS, Windows, and Mac operating systems.
5. I then requested a root beer from the arcade game "Tapper". As I drank the soda, I learned that originally, in the 1980s, the fictional bartender in the game served beer. What real beer brand sponsored it?

Answer: Budweiser

"Tapper" is a 1983 arcade game from Sega featuring a bartender serving people, cleaning, and getting tips. It was originally designed to be found in bars and was sponsored by Budweiser. A big logo for it was shown and the drink was implied that it was Bud. The controller itself was even designed to look like a Budweiser beer tap handle!

The game was very popular and the developers decided to move it to arcades. However, since children would be playing it the game was revised to remove the branding and make the bartender serve root beer.

"Tapper" was developed by Marvin Glass & Associates, published by Sega, and ran on early Atari and Commodore stations.
6. I then asked for the pirate's drink I'd seen in the adventure game "Monkey Island". What is this popular beverage in the game and also a caustic, volatile substance?

Answer: Grog

Grog is a dilution of rum with water and lime, with a bit of sugar added. In the "Monkey Island" games, it is not only a very popular drink, but it is an inventory item. The Pirate Leaders in the video game have been known to tell about "extra" ingredients in the grog such as kerosene or battery acid.

It is so strong that it can even dissolve locks. Unfortunately, it can also dissolve the very mug in which it is served. There is also a non-alcoholic version of the drink called near-grog.

"Monkey Island" was developed by LucasArts and runs on various operating systems as well as PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Switch.
7. I asked for a Mahara Jah Hot Devil drink next. I had seen it being consumed by the characters in the role-playing game "Deus Ex". True or False: I had just ordered a cinnamon whisky cocktail.

Answer: False

The Mahara Jah Hot Devil is a beer in the game. Drinking a bottle of the beer will give a player extra health points but the effect is temporary. Some characters in the game handle it differently. For example, giving four of these Hot Devils to Letitia will result in her giving out secret security codes.

In this futuristic Earth, which has become a cyberpunk society, the beer can often be found unopened in various trash cans around the sites.

"Deus Ex" was developed by Iron Storm and runs on a large variety of platforms, including Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox.
8. I then ordered a shaken Seventh Heaven cocktail. I told the bartender I had seen it being made by a character named Tifa in a Playstation game that was developed by Square. What was the game?

Answer: Final Fantasy VII

Tifa Lockhart is the owner of a bar called Seventh Heaven in the game "Final Fantasy VII". She serves cocktails at the bar. A popular one called Seventh Heaven is a yellow drink that "packs a serious punch". She also serves a red one called a Cosmo Canyon. Tifa is very good with a cocktail shaker and does tricks with it to get higher tips.

In the game, you are given an option to accept a drink from Tifa or not. If you accept the drink, it will increase her affection rating for Cloud, a protagonist in the game. When she makes the drink she pours them from a bottle and shakes them so it is hard to determine the exact ingredients.

"Final Fantasy VII" was developed by Square and can be played on PlayStation and Xbox One.
9. I next asked the bartender for a glass of wine from the game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion". I was told this drink also will gift me with the power of Night Eye to see better in the dark. What is the name of the wine?

Answer: Shadowbanish

One of the wines a player can get during the open-ended gameplay is Shadowbanish. In the province of Cyrodil, in "The Elder Scrolls" series, this is a rare collection of wine that was originally made for the fighting force called the Imperial Legion. It was concocted by an alchemist who was also a vintner.

The delicious wine has magic imbued in it which gives the drinker night eye for late surveillance. It is very hard to find and only a couple bottles of it are found in various locations, all of which are forts.

"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and runs on Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
10. To finish the evening, I asked the bartender for a hot cup of coffee. He said his coffee was as good as that found in the "Starbeans Cafe" restaurant within "Beanbean Castle Town". What two characters would be found there in the "Superstar Saga" game?

Answer: Mario & Luigi

In many of the games in the Mario series, Professor Elvin Gadd (or Dr. E. Gadd) makes an appearance. In "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga", he owns a restaurant called "Starbeans Cafe". It is more of a self-service coffee shop as the character must bring their own beans and grind them in the bean machine to get the bean juice (aka coffee).

The video game shows him having a different reaction each time a new drink is made at the cafe, ranging from scaring Luigi to blasting away like a rocket.

"Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga" was developed by AlphaDream and runs on the Game Boy Advance and the Wii U.
