Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What Continent boss can be found in the sea between the Act 1 and Act 2 islands?

Answer: Sprong

There's a small handful of major, non-obligatory bosses wandering around in the Continent map, some of which are difficult-to-battle Chromatic enemies, and some of which are like Sprong and Serpenphare, hulking creatures that provide significant challenges until later in the game but which are big enough to result in massive rewards and achievements. Sprong, for instance, is a massive, bipedal creature that wanders around in the sea northwest of the Act 1 island, and it executes attacks in a very specific order of five stages, looping its strategy on repeat to act as a test of your battle memory. If defeated, Sprong drops the highly-prized Cheater Picto.
2. Who, of these, does not appear in the Gestral Hidden Arena?

Answer: Golgra

After you pass through the Gestral Village and encounter their arena fights first-hand, you'll be able to navigate your way around to the Gestral Hidden Arena in the hills nearby, opening yourself up to further one-on-one fights against some of the best the Gestrals have to publicly offer. There are four battles of increasing difficulty here and they include Matthieu the Colossus, Bertrand Big Hands, Dominique Giant Feet, and Julien Tiny Head, some of whom you may have fought before as part of the main story quest. Each results in different rewards.

There is also a Dark Gestral Arena floating in the sky above the region, and most of the foes there are intense Chromatic foes. These battles culminate in one last fight against Golgra, the 'chef' of the Gestrals.
3. Which mask is not found down one of the pathways in Visages?

Answer: Passivity

Visages Island seems like a maze of pathways, but really there are only four, one of which leads to the Axon and the other three of which lead to glades themes around different emotions. All three areas have their own general vibe; enemies that wait down each behave a bit differently as a reflection of the mask that waits at the end.

The Expedition will end up facing Nevrons generated by these masks and, when defeated, it'll weaken the Visages boss just a bit more for later on. There are other masks than just those three, they just don't appear until that last fight.
4. How many Gestral Beaches can you encounter in the game?

Answer: Five

Although considered a myth by the citizens of Lumière, Gestrals prove to be a lot more common than the Expedition anticipated, appearing not only in their own village, but in a handful of arenas on the map, throughout the Continent as merchants, and peppered throughout other key regions. Across the map, there are five Gestral Beaches, each of which features a feat of dexterity and agility that the player must overcome for prizes (usually cosmetics). Events that take place at these range between an obstacle course, a time trial, volleyball, an 'Only Up'-style ascension, and a wall-climb.
5. The Old Key is used, once, in what location?

Answer: Old Lumière

Of all the little things to come out of the game's prologue in Lumière, the Old Key may be the most innocuous. Collected from one of the small to-dos at the Expedition Exposition, you can effectively trade a Festival Token for the Old Key and place it in your inventory to be forgotten about, particularly since no one really knows the use for it.

The item is used, just once, when the Expedition reaches Old Lumière in Act 2, as it's able to open a passage that give way to a missing Journal written by a Fracture Survivor.
6. The Paint Break ability allows you to destroy pillars with which coloured cracks?

Answer: Blue

Early on in the game you can locate Sastro, a large Gestral who appears to have lost several of his Gestral friends. The Expedition can help him out by letting him stay in a glade near their base camp. From here, he'll take in all missing Gestrals you can find on the Continent map (sometimes just hanging out, sometimes behind difficult foes) and reward you for each one that returns to him. If you can collect four of the nine on the continent, he'll give you the Paint Break ability, which can allow your Expedition to punch through massive pillars marked with blue cracks, opening secret passages and hidden items that would otherwise be unreachable.
7. Which of these is the last rock that Esquie can retrieve to upgrade his abilities on the continent map?

Answer: Urrie

Esquie, as you'll learn early on, is capable of many things, but can only enhance these capabilities with erudite stones with magical capabilities. As the first three stones are all required as part of the main story (and the third is given during the battle against the Paintress at the end of Act 2), it leaves Urrie as the fourth and final rock, collectable if you level up Esquie's Relationship Level to the near-max in Act 3. To get it, you have to fight François one last time.

It'll allow Esquie to dive into the sea to collect items, and while it's a non-essential rock/ability, every little bit helps.
8. What is the highest level a Picto can reach?

Answer: 33

While a Picto's level may not convey too much information on the surface, Pictos, like weapons, contribute stat points to the character wearing it, elevating their Strength, Speed, Defense, Vitality, and/or Luck, so while it may seem like equipping a Picto is only worth the ability it grants, higher level Pictos may bear a more detrimental effect on your character's might in battle.

In a player's first run-through of the game, they can max out a Picto at Level 31. Playing on New Game+ will cap it at 32; playing a third time maxes it at 33.
9. In battle, the Gradient Meter fills through which means?

Answer: The use of AP-based skills

Once you start building your Relationship Levels with your Expedition members at camp, you'll be able to start collecting the up-to-three Gradient Attacks that they have to their names. In battle, these are extremely powerful additional skills that you can use to either attack foes or support your allies, and these can be done in addition to your regular actions on a turn. Each party member has a Gradient Meter that fills up with the use of any skill, and the higher AP of the skill, the more your bar fills up (you get 5% of the meter filled for each AP spent).
10. Expedition 70 is known for which of the following?

Answer: Setting up grapple points

Early on, Gustave and Lune acknowledge that the Expeditions preceding them all had their role to play for those who would come after, and Expedition 70 may be amongst the most resourceful of the prior teams, having set up all of the grapple points found throughout the continent, heading as deep into the thick of it as the inside of the Monolith. You can locate Expedition 70's Journal, written by Charlotte, towards the end of the inside the Monolith region, explaining the efforts of her and her crew in blazing a trail. Expedition 33 would not succeed without them.
