Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

In the first generation ("Pokemon Red"/"Pokemon Blue") you can start with Bulbasaur, a grass type Pokemon. However in "Pokemon Yellow" that also makes part of the first generation, the starter is in all cases Pikachu.

In the second generation ("Pokemon Gold"/"Pokemon Silver"/"Pokemon Crystal") one could pick the water type Totodile.

In the third generation ("Pokemon Ruby"/"Pokemon Sapphire"/"Pokemon Emerald") the fire type starter is Torchic.

Upgrading to the fourth generation ("Pokemon Diamond"/"Pokemon Pearl"/"Pokemon Platinum") you can choose the fire type starter Chimchar.

The fifth generation ("Pokemon Black"/"Pokemon White") offers Tepig as fire type starter.

In the sixth generation ("Pokemon X"/"Pokemon Y") you can pick the water type Froakie to start the game.

The seventh generation ("Pokemon Sun"/"Pokemon Moon") offers a grass - flying type starter Rowlet.

In the eighth generation ("Pokemon Sword"/"Pokemon Shield") you can choose to start with Sobble, a water type Pokemon.

In the ninth generation ("Pkemon Violet"/"Pokemon Scarlet") one of the starters is Sprigatito - a grass type Pokemon.

Every generation has a certain number of legendary Pokemon. I'll name just one per generation, in the correct order: Mewtwo in generation I, then Suicune, Registeel, Mesprit, Thundurus, Xemeas, Lunala, Kubfu and finally Ting Lu in generation IX.
