Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When using a restorative item, you will not be interrupted by normal attacks.

Answer: Whale

The first Omamori to be found in the game (without spending Faith to get one at random from the Hokora), the Whale Omamori is good as a multipurpose tool in the event that you get a bit reckless in combat. There are many enemies that will swoop in to get close and attack with sharp jabs, and using this allows you to recover instead of stagger with each of these potentially deadly hits.

To get the Whale Omamori, you need to use the Bloody Key in the house in Ebisugaoka and then the Back Door Key, dodging the foes inside to collect what's in the back room.
2. Greatly decreases the damage taken while dodging.

Answer: Cat

Early on in the Shrine Path, when Hinako visits the Dark Shrine for the first time, you'll pass through a route lined with Ema, hanging on stands. A Blood-Stained Letter found nearby will promise that an Omamori can be found, left behind. Sure enough, if you flip over the one Ema marked with the image of a cat, you'll find the Cat Omamori, another defensive perk that allows you to reduce damage if you happen to make a successful dodge during an otherwise unavoidable attack.
3. Increases Max Health.

Answer: Pine

Found in a drawer in the Doctor's House, right on the edge of the rice fields in the northeast of Ebisugaoka, it's probably fitting that this Omamori does something as simple as increase your maximum Health, an ability that would only, otherwise, be upgraded by spending Faith and Ema at a Hokora.

To get the Omamori you need to find the Drawer Key in the living room of the house, then open the door to the office upstairs. It'll be in a drawer next to a medical mannequin.
4. Greatly decreases Focus charging time.

Answer: Hawk

Located in a storage room in the corridors of the Dark Shrine, during a period in which you're following Sakuko's voice to the Shrine Maiden's arena, you'll need to battle one of your first Harai Katashiro, a more dangerous version of the Kashimashi, to collect it.

Focus is a fairly important tool for someone engaging in the intricacies of melee combat as it will allow Hinako to identify the perfect moment at which to strike or parry. The amount you can Focus is determined by your Sanity level.
5. When taking damage from normal attacks, this mirror will break instead. Health, Sanity, and Stamina will be fully restored.

Answer: Blessed Hand Mirror

A one-time use 'special item', the Blessed Hand Mirror appears in the corridors of the Dark Shrine and can be found once you open the sacred door towards the end of the area. Quite the unique item to slot in as an Omamori, it acts as a failsafe, allowing you to take a fatal hit and survive, replenishing all of your meters to avoid a game over.

Naturally, the Blessed Hand Mirror isn't a cheat of an item. If used once, it breaks entirely and can never be used again.
6. Deals additional damage when using weapons with high durability.

Answer: Wolf

To get the Wolf Omamori you need to figure out how to open one of the many locked lockers in the Ebisugaoka Middle School locker rooms (and there are two of these rooms on the first floor). The one containing this Omamori is owned by Tsuchiya Taiko and the code, which remains the same no matter the difficulty or playthrough, will always be 377, gleaned from an Origami of Grievances found in the building.

The Wolf Omamori allows for Himako to deal additional damage when using weapons with high durability, which implies it's only effective for weapons used in the real world, and never in the Dark Shrine.
7. Greatly decreases Stamina consumed by Heavy and Charged Attacks.

Answer: Bull

All attacks that Hinako makes will use Stamina, the bottom bar on the HUD, and this will be important to keep an eye on even when you're not in combat since there's also a bit of use to be had when Hinako runs. While smaller attacks will chip away at this bar, the heavy attacks, especially with heavier weapons (like the Sledgehammer) will eat at it, leaving Hinako with a need to recover.

The Bull Omamori will help that out a bit. It can be found in the wider locker room in the Dark Shrine's Worship Hall.
8. Greatly decreases the amount of Stamina consumed when sprinting in fights.

Answer: Horse

Stamina is perhaps best used for complicated fight maneuvers, so keeping that bar as full as possible, if only to avoid leaving yourself prone to hits while staggered, is quite important. But sometimes, being able to flee or kite an enemy is just as valuable, and for that you'll need to run down your Stamina and let it replenish. To ease up on this cost, the Horse Omamori makes sense, though there are likely other equippables that give more bang for their buck.

The Horse Omamori is found along the mountain pass beyond the Middle School; you can find it near an inari shrine.
9. Slightly restores Health after defeating an enemy.

Answer: Crow

Displaying a crow eating apples from atop a branch, the Crow Omamori is a clever item to equip of you want the fortitude to keep fighting and have a tendency to run through healing items quicker than normal. Killing any foe will refill a small amount of your health bar, sustaining Hinako for just a little more as a reward.

This Omamori is found in the Main Hall of the Dark Shrine and is only accessible after you complete Fox Mask's first ritual, replacing Hinako's arm with that of a white-furred beast.
10. Perfect Dodges become easier to perform.

Answer: Suzuran

Dodges are executable with good timing, allowing Hinako to evade certain hits by being deft enough to get out of the way, even if by a hair, and using the Suzuran Omamori opens up the window for this action just a little bit more. To get your hands on this Omamori you need to find a house on the mountain path between Shu's home and the Shimizu Residence.

It's in a small box right behind it.
11. Greatly increases damage inflicted while in a near-death state.

Answer: Cuckoo

When Hinako's back is against the wall, this Omamori acts as a bit of a rage timer; her hits will be more powerful, but only when her health is kept low. It's a daring maneuver, and one that might not be worth toying with, but if you have little else left in the tank it might be able to keep you going for just a bit longer.

To get the Cuckoo Omamori you need to find the newly-built corridor that runs behind Hinako's room in the Shimizu Household (though it's only in the foggy, third version of the house, and not the other two).
12. Slightly restores Sanity whenever you kill an enemy.

Answer: Hound

Perhaps a more convenient Omamori for playthroughs beyond the first, especially in 'Lost in the Fog' difficulty, the Hound Omamori helps refill your Sanity, which is a much more precious commodity in the harder runs of the game. Sanity, of course, is a key need for any use of Focus in combat.

The Omamori is hard to miss. Found in an early part of the Treasure Hall in the Dark Shrine, it's in one of the small storage areas when you obtain the Black Sparrow Crest. If you return to the hub room for the area without claiming it, there's no way to retrace your steps to collect it.
13. Greatly decreases weapon durability consumption from performing Light Attacks.

Answer: Spider

Every weapon, at least in real world Ebisugaoka, suffers from diminishing durability; every strike will wear a weapon down no matter how strong it is, and that makes it so that some weapons are much more valuable to keep intact than others. The Spider Omamori helps Hinako protect her most valuable weapons, though they will still break down at a faster rate with heavier hits.

This is the last findable Omamori in the game, and you get it from Sakuko's mailbox during your last segment in Ebisugaoka.
