Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many Berries do you need to feed the cow at Moomoo Farm to bring her back to better health?

Answer: Eight

Moomoo Farm sits at the corner created by two Routes stretching between Ecruteak City and Olivine City, and visiting it will bring you to a pastoral property populated by Miltanks and the hard-working family raising them for their milk. The catch is that one of the Miltanks, named Moomoo, is inside the barn struggling with an illness that's preventing her from producing milk.

The only way to remedy this is by feeding her eight Berries, and the result will be a reward-- TM13 (Snore) off the bat and the ability to buy Moomoo Milk, a valuable healing item, for 500 dollars.
2. In Ilex Forest, you'll need to chase a Farfetch'd around to collect which of these from him?

Answer: Charcoal

Azalea Town, the home of Kurt, who crafts Pokeballs from Apricorns, is full of things to do. After assisting Kurt in ridding Team Rocket from the nearby Slowpoke Well, you'll have to head into Ilex Forest to help Kurt's apprentice hunt down a nuisance of a Farfetch'd, who's gone off and stolen a piece of expensive Charcoal. If the Pokemon can be corralled back to the start of the woods, you'll not only get the Charcoal (which powers up fire-type attacks if held), but Kurt will be able to start making Pokeballs for you.

Charcoal is otherwise purchased from the shop in Azalea Town, albeit at quite a high price (of 9,800 dollars).
3. What Pokemon, by default, uses Hidden Power as an attack?

Answer: Unown

Caught at the Ruins of Alph, Unown is unique in that it appears in twenty-six different incarnations-- one for each letter of the alphabet-- and these are released into the ruins as you complete slide puzzles found in four different above-ground chambers connected to the main ruins area. Unown is generally fought and caught at a very low level and despite being weird and different from a lot of other Pokemon, it never really builds up in a significant way; Hidden Power is its only learned technique.
4. You need to get a Dragon Fang for which gym leader to receive their badge?

Answer: Clair

Clair's should be the last gym you hit, reaching it in the mountain locale of Blackthorn City, and when you get through her two-floor gym, solve the puzzle, fight her trainers, then best her roster of dragon-type Pokemon, you'd think that would be enough to get the Rising Badge.

It's not. Instead, Clair believes that the true test is to surf over to the Dragon's Den cave behind her gym to collect a Dragon Fang item from within. It's not a hard test, just an extraneous one, and the minute you pick up what you need, you get to keep the item, powering up dragon-type moves for its holder.
5. In which of these locations will you NOT encounter Team Rocket?

Answer: Whirl Islands

Although Team Rocket appeared to have dismantled itself after Giovanni's defeat(s) in "Pokemon Red"/"Blue"/"Yellow", some pockets of the organization appear to be operating despite the head being cut off the snake, creating havoc in a handful of spots across Johto.

The first will be Slowpoke Well, where they attempt to collect and sell tails off the poor Pokemon there; the second will be Lake of Rage and Mahogany Town, where they'll have set up a dangerous radio signal in an underground lair; the third will be the Goldenrod Radio Tower, which they've co-opted for the same purpose on a greater scale.
6. Which of these is not used by the Kimono Dancers in Ecruteak City?

Answer: Glaceon

There are five girls in the Kimono Dancers' troupe and in "Gold", "Silver", and "Crystal" they're solely located in the dance theatre in Ecruteak City where they'll await battle. Each of the girls has one of Eevee's now-five evolutions, so you'll have to go head-to-head against specific types and best them all to get your reward. In this case, it's well worth the effort since you'll be given HM03 (Surf) for beating them all, and once you head out from Ecruteak (bound for Olivine City), you'll absolutely need it.

In "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver", you're likely to find the Kimono Girls in other locations around Johto as well. Glaceon is found for the first time in Generation IV ("Diamond" and "Pearl").
7. It's not possible to afford a Rage Candy Bar.

Answer: False

No, this one's actually achievable. While the Team Rocket rep's going rates for Slowpoketails back on the route to Azalea Town is well outside the realm of possibility, the Rage Candy Bar that you can buy in Mahogany Town comes in at the low price of 300 dollars. It sounds special-- with that name who can doubt it?-- but in "Gold", "Silver", and "Crystal", all it does is heal 20HP, the exact same amount as a Potion. Later games seem to improve upon the recipe though.

After Team Rocket vacates Mahogany Town, you can still buy these from Granny's Shop there.
8. Where can you catch Natu?

Answer: Ruins of Alph

There is a small pocket of outdoor grass space that can be explored when you're navigating the corridors, tunnels, and chambers of the Ruins of Alph (partway between two indoor sections) and that grass is a wellspring of otherwise harder-to-find Pokemon. Natu are quite common in this spot and nowhere else in the game. Similarly, Smeargle can appear in this spot (though rarely) during the day. Both Pokemon, completely new for "Gold" and "Silver", are unique critters, and it comes down to being a shrewd explorer and trainer to locate and test this spot for the rewards.
9. Who, in this game, gives you the Master Ball?

Answer: Professor Elm

Getting the Master Ball is a lot tougher in "Red"/"Blue"/"Yellow" than it is in "Gold"/"Silver"/"Crystal" because in the former you need to deal with the labyrinth that is Silph Co. in Saffron City, ascending to the proper office and foiling Giovanni's plans there.

In the second Generation of games, you just need to get all eight of your Johto badges. When you do, Professor Elm will give you a call, beckoning you home for a chat and the hand-off. You'll need to stop by New Bark Town in any case because you'll head due east to Tohjo Falls once you have all eight badges anyways.
10. What is true about the Rooftop Lookout of the Goldenrod City Department Store?

Answer: It's exclusive to "Pokemon Crystal"

Goldenrod City Department Store, like Celadon City's in Kanto, is a massive multi-floor shopping destination that can be of great value to your adventure, and quite early on for what it's worth. Nearly every floor has different wares (except for the lobby on 1F) and you can head as far up as the 6F atrium in "Gold" and "Silver". "Crystal", however, opens a lookout space where you can occasionally find a 'Rooftop Sale' consisting of different evergreen items (and these will change/upgrade when you're in the Hall of Fame).

At a point, you can also access the basement for more goodies/fights.
