Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On which Route can you catch Sudowoodo?

Answer: Route 36

For a good amount of the early adventure, you might find that the three-way route in the middle of Route 36 is completely blocked by a single, large Pokemon that sits in a narrow chokepoint. The only way to clear it is to fight it, and the only way to do that is by finding a Squirt Bottle. Fortunately, one of those can be collected from the Flower Shop in Goldenrod City, but only after Whitney is defeated. Clearing Sudowoodo out will grant passage to Ecruteak City.
2. Which of these connects to Route 29?

Answer: Route 46

While Route 29 connects New Bark Town and Cherrygrove City from east to west and features your first steps in Johto, it does have one more connection in its north, specifically a gateway leading to the mountain road above-- Route 46. As it turns out, this late Route (and Route 45 before it) connects far above to the Dark Cave and Blackthorn City, home of Johto's eighth and final gym. Your first trip there will come at it from the Ice Cave though, surely.
3. Which Route contains the Whirl Islands?

Answer: Route 41

Route 40 heads down through the seawater south of Olivine City while Route 41, abutting onto Cianwood City, includes all four of the Whirl Islands. Surfing through here for the first time, they may just appear to be obstructive, much in the same way that players heading through Kanto may never see it fit to go through the Seafoam Islands, but getting the Silver Wing and coming back here will allow you to fight and potentially capture Lugia.
4. Where is the Pokemon Daycare?

Answer: Route 34

Route 34 is the go-to here, sitting between Ilex Forest to the south and Goldenrod City to the north, and it's the first time in which players will have the opportunity to breed Pokemon, leaving them there in the yard to, hopefully, spawn eggs that can be hatched in a method not unlike the way you hatch Togepi from the Mystery Egg.

There was no Daycare in "Red", "Yellow", and "Blue", but upon revisiting Kanto in the late stage of "Gold", "Silver", and "Crystal", you might find that one has shown up on Route 5, between Cerulean City and Saffron City.
5. Which is the northernmost reaching Route?

Answer: Route 43

Route 43 heads due north of Mahogany Town, a location that specializes in ice-type Pokemon (via its gym, headed by Pryce). No matter what you'll need to head up this way en route to the Lake of Rage to engage with a shiny red Gyarados that makes its home in the waters there.

While you can catch this unique Pokemon, the goal is to claim its Red Scale and get the attention of Lance, who'll move your story along. Otherwise, Route 43 contains a handful of interesting paths and items as you move northward past the water.
6. Where can you be offered a Slowpoke Tail for purchase?

Answer: Route 32

Slowpoke Tails start showing up en route to Azalea Town because it brings you closer to the Slowpoke Well outside this key destination. Things may turn out to be a bit awry as someone will be positioned near a Pokemon Center waiting outside Union Cave, and they'll offer a Slowpoke Tail for 1,000,000 PokeDollars, obviously well outside the realm of possibility.

You can actually get a Slowpoke Tail from a shop in Mahogany Town, but (surprise, surprise) it's another Team Rocket ploy. They have no real purpose and are, ethically, quite cruel.
7. Where can you Surf past Mt. Mortar?

Answer: Route 42

Route 42 gives a couple of options for trainers passing through. One way of approaching this is by heading through the massive cave system there, facing off against a number of rock-type creatures in the dark and expansive passages that plague Mt, Mortar and the Waterfall Cave. If you don't want to dabble in this environment and make sense of the labyrinth, you can just use Surf to pass right by around it instead.

In "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver", this is where you would be able to obtain HM04 (Strength). In "Gold", "Silver", and "Crystal", it's in one of the houses in Olivine City.
8. Where can you collect the Magnet (though only on Sundays)?

Answer: Route 37

There are seven siblings found throughout Johto, all of whom have names reflective of specific days of the week, and each of whom will provide a useful item if they're located on said days. Sunny, who only appears on Sundays, can be found on Route 37, just south of Ecruteak City, and if spoken to he'll hand over the Magnet, a holdable item that boosts electric-type attacks by 10%.

Five of the siblings are on Routes; one is at Lake of Rage; one is in Blackthorn City. Each gives a different item.
9. Where is Mr. Pokemon's house?

Answer: Route 30

Route 30 places the player between Cherrywood City and Route 31 (which subsequently heads northward to Dark Cave and Violet City) and it's quite the important spot for the early trainer since the first to-do involves receiving a package from Mr. Pokemon's House.

Here, not only will you receive the Mystery Egg to bring back to Professor Elm, but you'll end up running into Professor Oak, from Kanto, who'll hand over a Pokedex.
10. Where can Miltank be caught?

Answer: Route 39

Considered a bit of a counterpart to Tauros, Miltank only appears in Routes 38 and 39, both of which lead you to Moomoo Farm where they meet in the middle. These two Routes take trainers from Ecruteak City to Olivine City on the coast, and along the way, you can also catch Magnemite, Farfetch'd, Tauros, Snubbull (rarely), Exeggcute, Pineco, or Meowth (in "Silver" only).
