Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where is Scorpioness Najka encountered?

Answer: Shaded Woods

Najka is found not terribly far after the Shaded Ruins bonfire, a little bit of a trek after initially arriving in the Shaded Woods.
2. Two NPCs can be summoned to help fight Scorpioness Najka. Both come with some fairly minor prerequisites before they'll be summonable. One of them requires the player come with a particular ring. What ring is needed to unlock one NPC summon?

Answer: Ring of Whispers

The Ring of Whispers is required for the player to be able to speak to Manscorpion Tark, one of the possible summons for Scorpioness Najka. With it, he will be able to communicate with the player, explaining that Najka is his betrothed, and that he wishes to put her out of her misery.

He will then ask the player to help him in facilitating this, indicating his willingness to join them for the fight.
3. Bradley of the Old Guard, arguably the most reliable NPC in the entire game, can be summoned to help fight Scorpioness Najka. He has one fairly unique prerequisite before he can be summoned. What must the player do?

Answer: Kill all of a certain enemy type in the area once

There are eight Shaded Warriors in the area. The player must slay all of them at least once, then Bradley's summon sign will appear. This requirement is very loose and lenient, as this slaying doesn't have to be done in one sitting and can be achieved cumulatively.
4. Scorpioness Najka carries two huge weaknesses. One is to thrusting weapons, such as the Rapier. What is her other weakness?

Answer: Fire

As what is essentially a gigantic bug, being very weak to Fire makes sense. In particular, the Chaos Rapier is accessible before this fight and is both Thrusting and Fire, making it a standout choice for fighting Scorpioness Najka.
5. Defensively, Scorpioness Najka is very resilient to Magic. She also carries a complete immunity. What is completely ineffective against Scorpioness Najka?

Answer: Poison

Scorpioness Najka carries two huge toxic stingers, making it sensible that she cannot be poisoned herself. Her resistance to Magic makes her a fairly sizable challenge for Intelligence builds which have not yet prepared a solid melee weapon.
6. Scorpioness Najka has two giant tails with stingers on the end of them. "Dark Souls 1" teaches the player to look out for tailed enemies, as these appendages can often be cut off to some kind of advantage. Here in "Dark Souls 2", can Najka's tails be cut off?

Answer: Yes

Sadly, unlike its predecessor which frequently gave cool rewards once players cut a tail off, there is no gain to slicing off either, or both, of Najka's tails. Still, it can just be a fun thing to try and do as a casual side objective. If the player wants to handle it like this, they'll need to do exactly 1,000 damage to each of Najka's tails to cut them off.
7. Inside of Najka's boss room, the player may spot what appears to be an item resting atop a tree in the corner. The player cannot get this item without Najka's help, as they need to lure her to this tree and get her to use an attack on it to knock it down. For all the trouble, what item can the player pick up in Najka's boss room?

Answer: Flame Butterfly

All that work, and the best From Software could do was a lousy Flame Butterfly. The player probably has this in droves by the time they reach this boss fight. Hilariously, the player in Najka's boss room is about a five minute walk away from a merchant, Weaponsmith Ornifex, who sells them at infinite quantity too.
8. As it turns out, the player will later learn the reason why Scorpioness Najka descended into madness. They can figure out what happened to her after they kill a later game boss. The slaying of which boss gives the player this information?

Answer: The Duke's Dear Freja

The Duke's Dear Freja is a Great One who harbors the remnants of Seath the Scaleless from "Dark Souls 1." Seath, as it turns out, was formerly the master of Najka and her betrothed, Man-Scorpion Tark. Once Freja is slain, the player can return to Shaded Ruins and talk to Tark, who will inform them that it was Seath's doing that drove Najka into madness.

If the player does return to Tark after killing Freja, he will now uniquely reward them with his weapon, the Black Scorpion Stinger, and a Fragrant Branch of Yore. He will thank the player for slaying "his master", commend them for their incredible skill, then tell them he will pray for their safety on their journey moving forward.
9. On defeating Scorpioness Najka, she drops the Scorpioness Najka Soul. This soul can be turned into a sorcery, one Najka herself wields during the fight. What sorcery?

Answer: Soul Shower

This is an irksome spell to use that does have potential, but also some genuinely aggravating drawbacks. When casting, the player spends a moment channeling, then shoots four separate soul spears into the air, where they will spend a moment rising, then converge downward on the target area.

On paper, this spell should have spammable potential. It does a great job in PvP at forcing enemies to move their position, lest they wish to get hit by the entire spell. It can also deal good damage to enemies in PvE if all of the spears manage to hit.

However, this spell has two infuriating flaws that make using it a headache in some scenarios. For one, the spell's tracking is really, really bad, so if the target moves even a little, they can pretty capably dodge all four of the soul spears, even if by accident.

The second, arguably even more horrendous flaw, is that this spell is completely unusable in-doors unless the ceiling is extremely high. If this spell so much as brushes against any sort of surface after it is cast, the entire spell will simply dissipate. This also means using the spell when the player is not on the same elevation as their target is going to be somewhat of a crap shoot, especially if the target is actively moving.

In theory, this spell can do decent damage. And at a modest ask of 22 Intelligence, the player could find many worse choices to fill a spell slot with. That said, they should really temper their expectations and just be at peace with this spell's inconsistent performance.
10. Uniquely, Scorpioness Najka drops a ring if she is slain on New Game Plus or higher. What ring does she drop?

Answer: Southern Ritual Band

The Southern Ritual Band dropped here is the +2 version, the strongest of its kind. The +2 version gives players a whopping three added spell slots, a jaw-dropping benefit for spellcasting players in particular who may seek to wield spells demanding multiple spell slots.

As such, Najka is a popular target of the Bonfire Ascetic item for any player seeking to make a spellcasting build. Her popularity as an Ascetic target increases further when considering that using an Ascetic affords the player the added opportunity to easily accumulate Petrified Dragon Bones and Twinkling Titanite as well.
