Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Your Day Job consists of which menial task?

Answer: Washing dishes

Not everything is about scratching cards; everyone has to start somewhere. That's why, when you start any game of "Scritchy Scratchy", you'll likely get tasked with cleaning a few plates as part of your Day Job, an objective which has its own gambling angle since you'll need to pay $1 to effectively buy a plate and then scrub it clean with a sponge (scritchy-scratchy-style) for a chance at extra earnings. Doing this enough will help you afford your first scratch cards.

Washing dishes can be lucrative if you level it up enough though there is a chance, at higher levels, of breaking plates. Dishes can even result in Jackpots!
2. How many Catalogs of cards can you acquire through the game?

Answer: Four

Progressing incrementally through "Scritchy Scratchy" involves acquiring a small handful of Catalogs, each of which is given over to you when you hit certain gains thresholds from your cards, and each of these Catalogs contains four or five new cards that may prove to have more substantial prizes and Jackpots. For the first couple cards in each set, you're likely to net some sort of win (or, at worst, just get a $0 card); the later cards sometimes make you lose banked money, so it's worth being conscious of the odds to avoid ending up in the red.
3. The upgrades you can obtain involve levelling up your Coins and which other element?

Answer: Luck

It won't take much time before generic upgrades are on the table for purchase, and you can spend your hard-earned earnings on them to make things just a bit easier for you, especially in the face of tougher and tougher cards. The Coin, for example, can use a couple of boosts. On one side of the coin (ha ha) you can upgrade the coin itself, increasing its capability and size and unlocking more complimentary power; on the other, Coin Strength provides incremental help since later cards have their own strength, making them tougher to scratch through.

Luck is its own thing. With Luck, you increase the odds for increased payout and jackpots. You'll find that older cards bear more reward, and newer ones become more viable.
4. You can start purchasing Gadgets once you have enough money. Which of these is the cheapest to afford?

Answer: Trash Can

The Trash Can sells for only $2, so you can purchase it pretty much as soon as you open the Gadgets tab for the first time (unless things are that dire), and it'll come in handy pretty quickly, allowing you to toss out losing cards. While many 'Gadgets' are upgrade modifiers for several items and abilities, a good amount of the more resourceful ones can be collected at much lower prices.

The Sticky Mat, for instance, can be placed onto the table to avoid having your scratch cards move around by a Fan which, when purchased, can blow your cards around for you (there are good reasons for this!).

The Egg Timer speeds up automated processes.
5. Scratch Bot will scratch cards for you. Which of these is not an upgradable option for this device?

Answer: Duplication

Think that scratching is beneath you? Well, in this, it's not, but at the very least you can start the process of building automation into your routine by purchasing Scratch Bot. Sitting in the bottom right of your table, this helpful tool will feed cards into its top and scratch them in full, spitting them out so that you can claim your prize (or determine how much you lose).

In addition to the base model, you can pay for enhanced Speed, Capacity, and Strength, often until the latest phases of the game at increasing prices.

It doesn't mean you'll never scratch a card again, but it will be a great aid.
6. Mundo, who can bankrupt you by cashing in losing scratch cards, is which of these?

Answer: A cat

More automation? Sign us up, right? Once Scratch Bot has been installed, and once a Fan is blowing scratch cards into the pile, Mundo is the next Gadget to pull into the system. A Maneki Neko cat, Mundo's moving arm will claim scratch cards out the other end of Scratch Bot so you don't have to, cashing in the fully-scratched cards, win or lose. While this will help you boost your intake substantially, it comes with risk as well as a detrimental losing card, automatically pushed through by Mundo, could push you into bankruptcy.

You can always stop Mundo from putting anything through by turning off his arm (and putting him to sleep). Mundo won't discriminate against bad cards unless properly upgraded.
7. Let's say you go bankrupt. In this event, what can you do?

Answer: Take out a loan

Falling into the red at any opportunity will cause the phone on your table to ring, and someone from The Company will sympathize, providing you with an out for your dilemma. What this means is you'll receive a loan, and you can receive up to three of these no matter the value. Naturally, you'll have to pay these off with substantial interest, but hey-- scratch cards are meant for winning!

Loans don't come without problems though; each loan will come with a condition attached, and those may hobble your speed and progress until cleared away. And once you go bankrupt with three loans, there's nothing to do but pack it in.
8. Completing a run of "Scritchy Scratchy" means cashing in your Jack Points and prestiging. You'll need to die how many times to access all of the Prestige tiers?

Answer: Four

It's expected that you'll come to an end over and over in your quest to truly complete "Scritchy Scratchy", but each death actually opens the door to more possibility (and Catalogs of cards). With each shot at a final scratch card, you'll 'die' and unlock the Prestige Tree, gaining permanent bonuses, starting items, and cosmetic changes that will push your capabilities even further. Points for this are based on your Jackpots through each successive run, but the first four visits to the tree open some bonuses automatically.

In other words, you WANT to scratch yourself to death. There's no harm, really.
9. The Night Market sells which of these?

Answer: Cosmetics

Completing achievements and amassing them on your in-game tracker will allow you to collect tickets, and five of these, when used on the Prestige Tree, can unlock the Night Market, a menu from which you can purchase all of the game's cosmetic enhancements. From here, you can change the colours of your table, your Mundo, the Egg Timer, etc. to your liking. You should end up with enough tickets to buy everything here without having to exhaust all achievements, but you'll need most of them, at least, to get it all done.

Naturally, there's an achievement for buying all the cosmetics, so you wouldn't need that one to buy anything.
10. It's possible to collect the winning Final Chance card, but which of these will you end up scratching away if you claim it?

Answer: The sun

Let's say you've gotten to the end of the Catalogs, so all that's left is to purchase Final Chance scratch cards and hope for the best. The tough part is that failure to scratch this card and win will cost you your soul.

Fortunately, there's a solution for that. The Machine, a Gadget you can purchase, will amass souls if you pay into the device, and you can build up a stockpile that will allow you to try your hand at multiple Final Chance cards. If you get a winning card, you'll be prompted to wait (by The Company) but you can always claim it for yourself, scratching the card, the table, the room, the city, the planet, and eventually the sun.

It doesn't mean the game is over-- you can prestige and start over-- but a win is a win!
