Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Uniquely, this map has its own exclusive starting pistol. What is it called?

Answer: Bloodhound

The Bloodhound is a six-shooter revolver, firing standard .38 rounds. Curiously, in this game, it has an eight round clip for reasons likely related to balance, yet still themselves leave behind a funny dilemma of a gun. I'd love to see some gun enthusiast explain the logic behind loading eight bullets into a six shooter.

It is noticeably stronger than the MR6 and M1911, available on other maps.
2. This map's main gimmick is entwined within Beast Mode. When in Beast Mode, Zombies will ignore the player, and the player will gain greatly heightened movement capabilities; they move faster, jump higher, and can grapple upward to various points. How often can players enter Beast Mode, if in a co-op match?

Answer: Once per round

If playing solo, the player instead may use Beast Mode up to three times per round. Otherwise, players may do it once per round. There is no way to increase this, but there is also no way for the player to be denied this either.
3. This map does not feature playable characters from the iconic Ultimis, Victis or Primis crews. A new cast takes stage. One playable character is a nighttime entertainer at the Black Lace Burlesque. What is her name?

Answer: Jessica

Jessica is a performer at the Burlesque. She will be wearing her 'work uniform' throughout gameplay of this map which, fortunately, is actually family friendly despite the context it is in.
4. One of this map's playable characters is a veteran boxer. What is his name?

Answer: Floyd

Floyd takes on the very stereotypical macho man persona of sorts, with a dash of gangster to boot.
5. One playable character was notably voiced by Jeff Goldblum, a meek magician who flirts with another playable character occasionally. What is his name?

Answer: Nero

Unfortunately for Goldblum, despite his prestige, his character was massively overshadowed by compatriot Neal McDonough, who voiced Jack Vincent. Blackstone does have some funny lines, and his tone of voice is perfected by Goldblum and perfectly encapsulates the dire situation Blackstone is in.
6. Arguably the most iconic and memorable of the four playable characters, Jack Vincent has some hilarious liners. Which of the following is one of them?

Answer: "You got my wife beat. She only has two faces!"

The others have their moments, but Jack Vincent easily has the most hilarious, memorable set of dialogue in the entire map, and maybe even the whole entire game as well. He says the quote in the correct answer to this question when spotting a Margwa, which has three heads or, in this context, 'faces'.

Here is just a small sample of other amazing liners Vincent has:

"You gonna exercise your right to remain silent now?" (when picking up an Insta-Kill power up)

"I'm not even gonna bother reading any of your rights." (another line he can say when spotting a Margwa)

"Didn't I said you had the right to remain silent? So do me a favor and shut up!!"

"When life gives you lemons, buy a gun!"

"A "Ray Gun" ? Do I look like Buck Gordon?!"

"You know, I can think of a few places I'd like to shove this." (upon picking up a Gateworm)

"It takes a certain kind of man to wear a toupee. Yo Nero, is this yours?"

"I'm glad all my smoking means I couldn't really taste that." (upon drinking a Perk-a-Cola)
7. Right from spawn, players are introduced to Harvest Pods. They can acquire loot from them, but they'll first need to find an item capable of harvesting them. What do they need to find?

Answer: The Fumigator

The Fumigator's one and only purpose is to interact with Harvest Pods. There are several Fumigators located around the map and, since a maximum of four players can play on this map at once, there will always be enough for everyone.
8. This map featured the debut of the iconic Widow's Wine perk. Widow's Wine can do a lot for the player. What is one thing this perk does?

Answer: Gives the player enhanced grenades

Widow's Wine grenades are sticky grenades. When exploding, if the zombie survives the explosion, they will essentially be rooted to the ground briefly and will take a damage over time.

If the player has grenades remaining and is struck by a zombie, one grenade will be expended and the sticky explosion will happen on the spot. This gives the perk defensive value in allowing it to greatly slow attackers down. However, it is also the perk's most controversial aspect. Players amidst Easter Egg Main Quests are almost certain to have periods where there is one zombie remaining in a round that players want to leave alive, as to work on the quest but not advance rounds and make it harder to do so. A strategy where players "throw their Widow's Wine grenades out" is often employed, where players will waste their grenades by throwing them a safe distance away from the final zombie of a round. This is done to prevent situations where the last zombie is inadvertently killed by attacking a potentially unsuspecting player.

Finally, Widow's Wine also enhances the player's melee attack, making it simply deal more damage. If any Widow's Wine grenades remain in the player's stock, meleeing a zombie has a chance to apply the same slow that the grenades are capable of applying.
9. Iconic Monkey Bombs are absent from this map, but their purpose and general function definitely is not. Which of the following replaces Monkey Bombs in this map?

Answer: Li'l Arnies

Li'l Arnies function the same way Monkey Bombs do: when deployed, they will attract the attention of all nearby zombies, diverting them away from nearby players immediately. Like with Monkeys, using these would be a great way to more safely revive another player, make a get away from a crowded area, or just generally accomplish something free of harassment by zombies.

Unlike Monkey Bombs, Li'l Arnies deal infinite damage to zombies. As such, this can double as a tool to kill off hordes with if attempting a high round push on this map.
10. The Wonder Weapon of this map is affectionately referred to by the community as "The Apothicon Servant." However, that is not actually this weapon's true name that it receives in-game. What is the official name for this map's Wonder Weapon?

Answer: Lor-Zarozzor

The GKZ-45 MK3 is affectionally referred to as the "Ray Gun Mark III", and can be exclusively found on the Gorod Krovi map. The KT-4 is the Wonder Weapon belonging to Zetsubou No Shima, while the Estoom-oth is the Pack a Punched version of the Apothicon Servant which, sadly, is not available on this map.

The Lor-Zarozzor or, Apothicon Servant, is a well known killing machine. When fired, it emits a singularity that quickly widens itself and begins to draw nearby zombies in, killing them instantly. It is break action and only carries nine shots, but those nine shots are capable of killing a maximum of 216 zombies combined, which is more than most weapons which have a lot of ammunition with big clip sizes.

Generally, players are advised to carry the Alchemical Antithesis Gobblegum to get the most out of this weapon. This would temporarily render ammunition stock a non problem, allowing the player to just brainlessly spam a weapon that will kill everything in a moderate vicinity in one shot, several times over.
11. Pack a Punch can be contentious to acquire. On paper, it is an extremely tedious process that should take even well prepared groups time to access. What is the earliest round players can possibly reach the Pack a Punch machine?

Answer: One

From the beginning of the game, players must go from the small, cramped room they spawn in, to four different ritual sites. They must engage with each ritual, then they must venture underground, into the subway area, where the northernmost wall will be blown off, revealing yet another ritual site. After finishing the fifth and final ritual, players will now be able to access Pack a Punch freely for the rest of the match.

How could something like all of that possibly be achievable on Round 1? Surely, overpowered Gobblegums would be strictly mandatory? Or perhaps, game breaking glitches?

It's actually relatively simple once the player gets used to the strategy. When a player completes a ritual, they receive points. This benefit extends to all players involved with the ritual. Assuming proper coordination, all players in a group can contribute to all rituals, letting everyone earn points. Plus, on the second and fourth rituals' completion, a Margwa will spawn, allowing players to earn even more points for killing it.

Despite this map's size, a lot of it can be opened up for free using Beast Mode. Combine this with all of the points players can earn, and no Gobblegums or any cheating are needed to even make the process accessible. Nothing I've just typed out actually requires more than a single player amidst a group to understand what's going on; if seriously need be, an experienced player playing with three players brand new to the map that are willing to listen and cooperate can pull this off. Heck, you could even do all of this on accident, as players eventually need to do all of this stuff anyway, and nothing I've listed is outside of the line of main progression. And if you're tired of playing with complete neanderthals, you may be comforted to know that this is completely possible for a solo player to achieve as well.
12. When beginning the game, players will find that each character of the four-man group they're in has one thing in common, despite seeming to be in such stark contrast. Which of the following has each playable character on this map done?

Answer: Committed a heinous crime

The group of Jack Vincent, Floyd Campbell, Jessica Rose and Nero Blackstone make up this game's playable characters.

Jack Vincent was a corrupt police officer who, amidst the mayor's ongoing investigation into his actions, killed off the many criminals with whom he associated with.

Floyd Campbell cheated to win a boxing match, by putting brass knuckles into his boxing gloves and ultimately murdering his opponent.

Jessica Rose killed a photographer who had threatened to blackmail her and, finally, Nero Blackstone killed his wife so that he could collect her life insurance payout and use it to settle his growing debts.

The main journey of this map involves these four 'atoning for their sins', by performing a ritual and sacrificing something or, someone, to the Shadowman.
13. The player(s) are told they must atone for their characters' sins, involving the completion of a few highly morally questionable rituals. When finished, the Shadowman will appear to inform them of what they've managed to accomplish. He starts with "your service to the Overlords is appreciated" and finishes with what?

Answer: "Our complete assimilation of this dimension will now proceed"

After this is said, the player's screen will violently shake as the earth briefly rumbles around them. The aesthetic of the map will change, showing a huge Apothicon monster taking over the skybox and hovering overhead for the rest of the game.

It, of course, turns out the Shadowman was not this benevolent entity urging these people to atone for their sins. He was, instead, very malignant and sought to take advantage of their heinous crimes by manipulating them to do his bidding.

As the final ritual is complete, Apothicons are now allowed entry into the natural world. Other than allow for advancing the map's Easter Egg and aforementioned aesthetic changes, this does not actually have an impact on gameplay.
14. After finishing all of their rituals, now our band of four characters realizes the apocalypse is imminent, and they must join forces to halt it. Once the final ritual is complete, the Easter Egg Main Quest begins. What is the first step?

Answer: Acquiring the Apothicon Sword

Unlike the Apothicon Servant, each player in the game has their own Apothicon Sword. To acquire it, players must converge to use their Beast Mode to unlock each of the four Apothicon statues around the map. Afterward, one player must take the tram while in Beast Mode, stare out the window and into the windows of four different buildings. Inside these windows will be symbols which are randomized, and the player must ensure they remember what the symbols were, and what order they were spotted in. After this, someone must enter Beast Mode one more time in the Subway, approach a wall right next to the Widow's Wine perk buy, and use their Beast Mode to identify and then zap the symbols spotted earlier.

After completing this laundry list, all players can now go to the zapped wall section of the subway to collect their own egg. They must take this egg to the each of the four Apothicon Statues and place the egg inside the statue. Once done, 15 zombies must be killed near the egg to charge it up.

Once all four statues have charged the egg sufficiently, the player can return to where they got the egg and exchange it for the Apothicon Sword, needed to eventually finish the Easter Egg Main Quest.
15. Eventually, players will get their hands on the Apothicon Sword. Even though just getting this thing is tedious, the work's not even close to finished yet as now it's time to upgrade it. Let's say you're playing as the generally most iconic of the four playable characters, Jack Vincent. Where would you need to go to upgrade your Apothicon Sword?

Answer: The Ruby Rabbit

The location the player needs to go depends on the character they are playing as. Jessica must go to the Burlesque, Floyd needs to go to the Boxing Gym, Nero must return to his apartment, and Jack Vincent will need to venture to the Ruby Rabbit. Here, the player will trade their Apothicon Sword in to a ghost at the ritual sites in these locations.

At this point, large red circles will appear in four areas across the map. Once per round until finished, the player must choose one of these spots and interact with it. Doing so will spawn a Margwa the player must kill. Once all four spots have been finished, the player can return to where they traded their Apothicon Sword in, to receive the upgraded version.
16. The last Main Quest Easter Egg step before the boss fight involves the players literally playing a game of capture the flag. In four separate places, the player must plant a flag down and defend it from enemies to proceed. Not just any enemies, however: which enemy exclusively shows up to attack the flag?

Answer: Insanity Elementals

Insanity Elementals or, "Meatballs" as they are affectionally called by the community, will rain from the sky by the dozen and attempt to kamikaze straight into the flag. If a single one makes it to the flag, it fails this entire step and the players must start over. After thirty seconds of defending the flag in one place, players must move to two more locations which will be indicated by a mass of electricity. After defending the flag successfully at all three locations, players will have succeeded the minigame.

There are four locations where players must defend the flag in order to proceed from this step. Usage of the Fear in Headlights Gobblegum is an excellent way to cheese this step, as four players can stand around the flag, backs to each other, and simply look at the Insanity Elementals to freeze them instantly. Without this Gobblegum, however, this step is typically regarded as the hardest step in the entire Easter Egg Main Quest.
17. The final boss is a tense, fast paced conflict which takes place inside the final ritual room site, where players may Pack a Punch their weapons. Who is the boss?

Answer: The Shadowman

Unfortunately, while this fight had every bit of potential to be the banger this map truly deserved, it kind of ended up falling a bit flat. The Shadowman himself does not actually ever attack the player or their team at any point, instead flying around the arena and littering the field with Margwa and Zombie spam. The challenge here is to consistently shoot the Shadowman until he has been driven back towards the Summoning Key. Once this is done, a player must interact with the Summoning Key in order to seal the Shadowman away.

If players are skilled enough to make it this far, rarely to never will they actually be defeated entirely by this fight. It is very possible, in fact quite easy, to annoyingly mess up shooting the Shadowman in the right direction, shooting him enough, or getting someone in position to properly use the Summoning Key. It may be annoying, but it isn't really threatening. Players will get it down eventually almost every single time. Basically any even remotely 'good' Gobblegum set up makes it a total joke to boot, especially ones which conceal players such as Idle Eyes or In Plain Sight.
18. With the boss down, there is but one final step left before players can finish the entire Main Quest Easter Egg. Notice I said *players*. Is it possible for a solo player to finish the last step?

Answer: No

In fact, the very final step can only be possibly completed with a full team of four players. Three or less simply will not do. This can make things especially frustrating if a teammate has connection issues, rage quits, or similar halfway through the admittedly lengthy challenge this entire quest poses.
19. The very final step of this Easter Egg Main Quest involves all players gaining "perma" Beast Mode. This next step is very time sensitive, but one wrench is thrown into this. While in perma Beast Mode, if the player begins to see purple appear on their screen, what is happening?

Answer: They are about to take a death and must cleanse

In order to finally finish this entire journey, all four players must venture into their own tram station. Simultaneously, all four must use their perma Beast Mode to electrocute the power boxes attached to the tram. If done correctly, all four sections of the tram will activate simultaneously, resulting in the huge Apothicon that has been hanging overhead getting crushed by them and killed. By 'simultaneous', it really does suggest that the timing must be pretty ironclad. Even a half second of a difference is too much, and will not succeed the step.

However, there is a lot of set up and coordination that goes into this. This can take a long time to make sure everyone is correctly in position. During this set up, if the player's screen begins to flash purple, they are poisoned. They must wander around the map and search for a big, glowing white orb to cleanse them. The only minor annoyance this poses is that it forces players to leave the tram room, which can make coordinating simultaneous zapping of the tram boxes that much more tedious to arrange. If a player tries to ignore this purple warning, it will kill them and cause an even greater setback.

After this, players can finally take a well deserved sigh in relief and enjoy their well earned cinematic cutscene, as the Easter Egg Main Quest is complete!
20. After the Easter Egg Main Quest has been mercifully, at long last finished, a cinematic cutscene will play. This cutscene, when the map initially launched, was responsible for absolutely blowing the minds of countless players around the world and causing widespread shock. What character very abruptly appears during this cutscene, to straight up steal the Summoning Key?

Answer: Edward Richtofen

The cutscene depicts the four characters battling the undead and Apothicons. All of a sudden, a large portal appears, Richtofen steps through it, very quickly thanks the team for helping him before telling them he has a universe to go and save. He will then go back through the portal and simply leave without a trace.

Richtofen is a part of the eternally iconic Primis and Ultimis zombie crews. Until this very abrupt cutscene, players had assumed that the story this map was telling was completely independent of the storyline Primis and Ultimis are attached to. And they had every reason to believe that; perk jingles are different, the general aesthetic is way different and there is no trace of the Aether storyline to be found at all before this cutscene.

So, players endured the long and grueling quest this map offered. They gathered the Summoning Key, were told to guard it with their life, then used the thing to defeat the map's final boss. All of that, just to see it snatched away in the span of about two seconds by arguably the entire "Call of Duty" franchise's single most iconic, recognizable character.

For these reasons, it unsurprisingly became one of, if not the single most memorable cutscenes in "Call of Duty" history.
