Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which "Modern Warfare" game did the player get to play as a U.S. Army Ranger?

Answer: Modern Warfare 2

The playable U.S. force in "Modern Warfare 2" was the Rangers. The first playable Ranger was Private Allan, in "S.S.D.D." and "No Russian". The second was Private Ramirez, in all the other U.S. missions.
2. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player fight on the United States soil?

Answer: "Modern Warfare 2" and "Modern Warfare 3"

In "Modern Warfare 2", Russia was lured into a war with the U.S., and they launched an invasion of the east coast (yes, the east coast). "Modern Warfare 2" had the player defending Washington D.C. and the surrounding area. "Modern Warfare 3" had the player fighting in New York city, finally repelling the Russian forces from the U.S.
3. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player play as Soap (was able to move freely and fire weapons)?

Answer: "Modern Warfare" and "Modern Warfare 2"

John "Soap" MacTavish was a member of the SAS and a player character in "Modern Warfare". In "Modern Warfare 2", Soap was the leader of Task Force 141, and the mentor of Roach, the new player character. The player took control of Soap for the last three missions of "Modern Warfare 2". "Modern Warfare 3" started from Soap's perspective, but it was more of a cinematic, with no input from the player.
4. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player assault a Russian submarine?

Answer: "Modern Warfare 2" and "Modern Warfare 3"

The first time the player got to assault a Russian submarine was in "Modern Warfare 2", in the first mission of Act 3, "Contingency". After rescuing Price, Task Force 141 took control of a Russian submarine in Kamchatka. The submarine was loaded with nuclear ICBMs, and Task Force 141 thought that they were trying to prevent their launch. Price had other plans, and deliberately launched a missile towards the U.S. It detonated over the east coast of the U.S., acting as an EMP, removing the Russian's advantage.

The second time the player assaulted a Russian submarine was in the second mission of "Modern Warfare 3", "Hunter Killer". The player navigated New York harbor underwater, and planted explosives on the submarine, forcing it to surface. The player then entered the sub, and used its own missiles to destroy the remaining Russian ships in the area.
5. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player control an AC-130 TV operator?

Answer: "Modern Warfare" and "Modern Warfare 3"

One of the most memorable missions in "Modern Warfare" was "Death From Above", where the player took control of an AC-130 Gunship TV Operator. Price and company were behind enemy lines and fleeing for their lives. The player got to watch from above with an IR camera, and provide air support. The AC-130's designation was "Wildfire".

The AC-130 was brought back in "Modern Warfare 3" in "Iron Lady", where the player had to support Sandman and his squad as they fought their way through Paris. The AC-130's designation was "Warhammer".
6. In which two games did the player assault a safe house in Azerbaijan?

Answer: "Modern Warfare" and "Modern Warfare 2"

In "Modern Warfare", Al-Asad detonated a nuclear warhead in the Middle East, wiping out many of his own forces and those of the U.S., as well as countless civilians. The SAS tracked Al-Asad to a safe house in Azerbaijan that was being protected by Russian Ultranationalists. In the mission "Safehouse" they had to fight an uphill battle and check every possible hiding spot. The next day, in the mission "Heat", they had to hold the line and then retreat to an evac helicopter when the Ultranationalists launched their counterattack.

In "Modern Warfare 2", Task Force 141 was tracking Makerov. He had a few possible hiding locations, including a safe house in Azerbaijan. Roach and Ghost led a team to investigate the safe house, in the mission "Loose Ends", and grab any intel they could find. The counter attack was strong, and they barely made it to the evac helicopters... Only to be betrayed by Shepard when they got there.
7. In which "Modern Warfare" game did the player get to play as a U.S. Delta Force operative?

Answer: Modern Warfare 3

In "Modern Warfare 3", the player took control of Derek "Frost" Westbrook of Delta Force. Frost was a part of team Metal, led by Sandman (voiced by William Fichtner). Frost was the player character for almost all the missions featuring the U.S. military, and fought in America, Germany, and France.
8. In which "Modern Warfare" game did the player fight American soldiers?

Answer: Modern Warfare 2

For the first time in the entire "Call of Duty" series, the player fought American soldiers in "Modern Warfare 2". When General Shepherd's betrayal became known, the surviving Task Force 141 members went into hiding. Their new mission became revenge.

Shepherd was guarded by his own personal Shadow Company. They were the enemy faction during the last missions in "Modern Warfare 2", "The Enemy of My Enemy", "Just Like Old times", and "Endgame".
9. In which "Modern Warfare" game did the player get to play as a U.S. Marine?

Answer: Modern Warfare

For the American portions of the "Modern Warfare" campaign, the player played as Sgt. Paul Jackson of the U.S. Marines. It looked like the game would feature an alternating mission style, with the player jumping between the U.S. Marines in the Middle East, and the British SAS operating covertly around the world. All that changed at the end of Act 1, when Al-Asad detonated a nuclear device in the Middle East, killing most of the Marines there, including Jackson.
10. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player fight in Pripyat, Ukraine?

Answer: Modern Warfare

Pripyat was the location of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that was destroyed in 1986. The accident created an unsafe exclusionary zone around the plant. It made it the perfect place to conduct secret meetings and exchanges.

After killing Al-Asad, Price told the other SAS soldiers about his time in the city, in 1996. During two flashback missions, "All Ghillied Up" and "One Shot, One Kill", Lt Price and Cap. MacMillan snuck around the city of Pripyat in ghillie suits. Their mission was to assassinate Imran Zakhaev, an arms dealer and leader of the Russian Ultranationalists.

Pripyat was seen in "Modern Warfare 3" during Yuri's flashback, but no fighting occurred.
11. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player guide missiles from a UAV?

Answer: "Modern Warfare 2" and "Modern Warfare 3"

In "Modern Warfare 2", the player got to use guided missiles from a UAV twice. The first time was during the mission "Wolverines!", where Ramirez used them to take out Russian BTRs and waves of incoming foot soldiers. The second time was during "Contingency", where Roach used them to destroy Russian vehicles and foot soldiers during the assault on the submarine base.

In the first mission in "Modern Warfare 3", "Black Tuesday", Frost used guided missiles to take out enemies on rooftops while waiting for an extraction. Later, near the end of the game in "Down the Rabbit Hole", Yuri used guided missiles to support Task Force 141 and U.S. Delta Force operatives as they crossed an open pit mine.
12. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player get to meet and work with Kamerov?

Answer: "Modern Warfare" and "Modern Warfare 3"

In "Modern Warfare", the Ultranationalists were only seen as a terrorist group in Russia. Kamerov was a part of the Russian army, and assisted the SAS against the Ultranationalists. He was seen in "Blackout", "The Sins of the Father", and he and his forces saved the SAS and Marines in "Game Over."

By "Modern Warfare 3", the Ultranationalists had taken over Russia, and Kamerov was leading an underground resistance, still loyal to the previous regime. Price and Soap met Kamerov in Prague, in "Eye of the Storm". Their plan to kill Makerov turned out to be a trap, though, and Kamerov was killed.
13. In which "Modern Warfare" games was Price a player character?

Answer: "Modern Warfare" and "Modern Warfare 3"

The player got to play as Price in "Modern Warfare" during his flashback missions in Ukraine, "All Ghillied Up" and "One Shot, One Kill."

Price was one of the few constants through the series, and the player took control of him in "Dust to Dust", the last mission in "Modern Warfare 3" and the entire series.
14. In which "Modern Warfare" games did the player fight in Russia?

Answer: All of them

Russia was a battleground for the entire "Modern Warfare" series. In "Modern Warfare", "Blackout", "Hunted", "Death From Above", "The Sins of the Father", and all of Act 3 took place in Russia.

In "Modern Warfare 2", the airport mission, "No Russian", too place in Moscow. "The Gulag" and "Contingency" both took place in Kamchatka.

In "Modern Warfare 3", the penultimate mission, "Down the Rabbit Hole", took place in a diamond mine in Siberia.
15. In which "Modern Warfare" game did Price die?

Answer: None of them

Only two characters appeared in all three games: Price and Soap. Soap almost died at the end of "Modern Warfare 2", but was saved in India. He was later killed in Prague in the mission "Blood Brothers".

Price was the player character's mentor and superior officer in "Modern Warfare", though he disappeared at the end. Soap, with Task Force 141, rescued Price from a Gulag in "Modern Warfare 2". Once Price was freed, he started his own campaign against everyone he hated, including General Shepherd and Makarov. In the final mission of "Modern Warfare 3", Price managed to kill Makarov in a fist fight. The series ended with Price enjoying a victory cigar.
