At the start of Leg 23, the final three teams were brought from Silverton back to Broken Hill where, at the BHP Mine, they opened clues directing them to Australia's largest city, Sydney. Teams headed to Broken Hill Airport and flew to their destination before hopping onto an airport link train to Kingsgrove. There they could visit Garlo's Pies for their first task, which involved the making of two dozen meat pies (rolling, filling, and baking them) which they could trade for their next clue.

Answer: Tap dance

The final five teams started Leg 19 in Launceston, Tasmania, ripping open their clues at Riverbend Park to learn that they would be flying back to Mainland Australia to pick up the course in New South Wales. Flying into Sydney, teams then needed to purchase tickets at the city's train station and head north along the coast to Newcastle to continue the race. Upon arriving there, teams visited Newcastle Steelworks where both team members needed to join the Tap Dogs and learn a tap dance routine to the approval of the troupe.

Answer: Brisbane

Starting Leg 15 in the coastal town of Palmwoods, teams continued through the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, but first, leaving from Palmwoods Memorial Hall, teams had to walk to Rick's Garage and find a marked driver to take them, in a classic car, to their next destination. The ride took teams to Musgrave Park in South Brisbane where teams found their next clue hanging from one of the trees there. Teams did not need to navigate to this destination but could, instead, enjoy the ride. Stan and Wayne, who were given the Salvage Pass, were given a Sherpa for the day while Chris and Aleisha given the Sabotage Pass, were forced to be the Sherpas, carrying Stan and Wayne's packs for the leg.

Answer: Townsville

Opening their clues in the order at which they arrived at the Lincoln National Park Pit Stop in Leg 12, teams headed from their starting point at the Port Lincoln Hotel to the airport where they needed to take a flight to Far North Queensland and the City of Townsville, previously visited by six of the eight remaining teams during the fourth leg of the race. Arriving there, teams had to hop into an Apollo campervan and spend the night at the BIG4 Beachfront Holiday Park, a campsite on Rowes Bay, where they could snag an early morning departure time to recommence the race the next day.

Answer: Train

Between Legs 10 and 11, the remaining nine teams hopped back aboard the Ghan, last travelled between the previous two legs, and made their way southeast to the coast to the city of Adelaide. Teams would be able to open their clue and start the leg when their train arrived at the station though, just like with any regular Pit Stop, teams departed in the order upon which they arrived at Crocodile Harry's Underground Nest.

Between Legs 4 and 5, teams were sent to Magnetic Island, leaving Palm Island and the site of their fourth Pit Stop behind and starting at the ferry terminal at Nelly Bay by departing in the order the completed the last leg. They needed to make their way to the Isle Hire Car Rentals lot nearby, grab one of the marked cars, and collect their first clue. The first clue turned out to be a Road Block, and with that, teams drove off to Horseshoe Bay to locate Beau, waiting there to start their next group task.

Answer: Queensland

For this unique season of the race, fourteen teams of two were brought together in Far North Queensland where the world's oldest rainforest meet the world's largest coral reef. Situated on Newell Beach in Daintree Rainforest, team took off from the starting line and had to make an immediate choice between taking the beach or taking a boat as per their first clue (located on their backpacks). Once they heard the word go, they could grab their bags and either race on foot one kilometre to their vehicles or take the a boat three kilometres to another fleet of cars. There were only seven boats available, first-come-first-serve.

Answer: Balut eggs

After making food at Garlo's Pies, the teams had to indulge a little bit with a cultural delight. Teams headed to the Diem Hen Restaurant in West Sydney's Canley Heights to enjoy traditional Vietnamese balut eggs, fertilized duck embryos, which had been developing for three to four weeks. Once teams could eat six of these between themselves, they would be able to trade their empty plate for their next clue (and something to wash it all down). Fortunately, they were done with food going into their Detour.

Answer: Shane and Deb

Leg 5 notoriously featured a medical evacuation. Though all teams completed the first Road Block hanging over Horseshoe Bay to claim an early morning departure time, Shane sustained an injury that spelled elimination for himself and Deb. Teams found a second Road Block towards the end of the leg when one member of the team (it didn't need to be the opposite member as the first Road Block) had to learn proper fire-breathing techniques. Amanda, Jessica, Skye-Blue, Rani, Chris, Jackson, Anurag, Katherine, and Holly completed the second Road Block. Violeta was also selected to take part in this task but she was unable to finish.

Completing the basketball challenge at Gordon Dam, teams opened a Detour clue leading them to the cold-weather farms in Westerway, deeper into Tasmania. Arriving at the Westerway Raspberry Farm, teams who chose to complete the 'Crush' task were required to suit up in protective gear and pack twenty boxes full with raspberry puree. Once they filled them with 10.5 kilograms of puree (and measured them) they could seal them up and place them on a skid for approval. If the supervisor deemed them properly-weighed, clean, and ready for sale, they could continue racing. Brendon and Jackson, MJ and Chelsea, and Chris and Aleisha completed this task.

Arriving in Brisbane, teams got their Detour clue and had to choose between two coordination tasks. In 'Cheery', teams stayed in Musgrave Park to join the Brisbane All-Star Cheerleading team. If they could learn a routine with the squad and perform it to perfection they could get their next clue. In 'Paniyiri', however, teams headed to the nearby Greek Club to learn a traditional Greek dance, a very different style. Only Chris and Aleisha completed the cheerleading task (due to Aleisha's background teaching dancing); all other teams learned the Greek dance.

Teams started their mystery day in Townsville on an early note, opening their first clue, a Road Block, as early as 5am. While in Leg 4, team members had to face off against a nighttime abseil down Castle Hill, this Road Block forced the teammates who did not do this the first time to abseil face-first, collecting the photo they left on the 'Brains' and 'Brawns' boards the first time around. Because MJ and Chelsea and Stan and Wayne were Stowaways, they had no such restrictions and could choose from either board (Chelsea took Brawns so Wayne had to take Brains). This meant that the task was done by Ashleigh, Anurag, Brendon, Chris, Chelsea, Jake, Holly, and Wayne.

Answer: Shane

The first Road Block in Leg 5 asked teams 'Who likes hanging out?', and it led to one member of each team needing to use their strength and stamina to hang under a pole suspended out over the water on a pontoon in Horseshoe Bay. All teams participated in this task at the same time, so the racers who were able to hold on the longest would secure their team's earlier departure time the next morning when they left their overnight stay at Bungalow Bay Koala Village. Team members who participated in this task included Brendon, Shane, Ashleigh, Sefa, Jake, Rani, Chris, Jaskirat, Dwes, Jordan, and Holly. Shane dropped out first after two and a half minutes, dropping him and Deb to last place after leading for two legs. Jordan lasted more than a half hour, placing first.

Answer: 'Find'

Racers continued to indulge in Sydney's multicultural nature in Leg 23 as they headed into the Chinese-themed Detour, a choice between 'Fan' and 'Find'. Teams choosing 'Fan' needed to go to the MingYue Lay Temple to learn and perform a traditional fan dance while in 'Find' teams went to the main hall of the temple to shake a jar of fortune sticks. When their single stick shook out they needed to go to the gold room and find the proper golden lockbox in the temple to get their next clue. All three teams went with 'Find'.

Answer: "Home! Sweet Home!"

Completion of the Road Block led the teams onward to the town of Gulgong to find the Prince of Wales Opera House, Australia's oldest opera house, where they would need to learn the lyrics of the 1823 Australian song "Home! Sweet Home!". Paying homage to Dame Nellie Melba, who performed on the site, teams had to learn a verse each and then perform the chorus as a duet, live onstage, before they could continue racing. Of course, they needed to perform in costume. Why not?

Answer: 'Pit'

Completing their dressage task, teams received a Detour clue sending them to the wineries in the Pokolbin area of the Hunter Valley. The task choice this time were 'Pit' and 'Paddle'. In 'Pit', teams needed to head to Tintilla Estate Winery and Olive Farm to de-pit two hundred olives with their hands to get their next clue while in 'Paddle', teams went to RidgeView Estate Winery to paddle out to a swim ring in the middle of a lake (atop a wine barrel), grab some grapes, and squeeze enough to fill a wine glass (150 mL). All five teams went for 'Pit'.

Leg 8 saw teams in and around the Northern Territory city of Darwin, and as they raced outward, they stumbled upon the Darwin HUET Training Centre for their Road Block, an intense task requiring that teams go blindfolded into a simulated helicopter submersion. For this, teams needed to submerge upside-down underwater and blindly escape their seat and out the side-window to get their clue. If they could manage their claustrophobia they could get the task done on their first try. Aleisha, Chelsea, Jackson, Amanda, Jordan, Holly, Jake, and Anurag completed the task though Katherine did not, instead taking a thirty minute time penalty at the Pit Stop.

Answer: Sea turtles

While most teams opted to join the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on Fitzroy Island for their Leg 6 Detour task ('Rehabilitation'), Sefa and Jessica went down into the depths near the Great Barrier Reef to complete the other, 'Restoration', which had them ride Scuba-Doos onto the ocean floor. All teams working to help the turtles were required to properly clean turtle tank filters before deboning squid and fish for the critters to eat.

Answer: Apples

Teams who did not complete the 'Crush' Detour task in Leg 17 needed to complete 'Crunch', sending them out into the dreary, cold weather to go apple-bobbing. One team member needed to get into a vat of freezing water and, without using their hands, find a single apple in their bucket of one hundred with a dyed black core. Both team members were unable to touch the apples with anything but their mouths, even if they fell onto the ground outside the basin. Ashleigh and Amanda, Skye-Blue and Jake, and Jaskirat and Anurag completed the task, all of them faster than those finishing 'Crush'.

Answer: Subway

Dancing would have given the teams a bit of a hungry streak, so their next clue sent them to Brisbane's city centre to find a Subway restaurant on Queen Street. There, one team member needed to make a Subway sandwich for their partner who, blindfolded, would need to eat the creation and guess the ten ingredients on the finished sub to be able to grab the next clue. Although not depicted in the episode, teams were instructed to complete an intermediate task in Spring Hill, washing clothes. Instead, the teams were shown heading deeper into the city centre.

Answer: Germany

After completing the Adelaide Oval task, teams received a Detour clue sending them to the small town of Hahndorf, known for its German heritage. Naturally, both tasks involved German things, and both could be found at the local inn. In 'Slap', teams had to put on lederhosen before learning and performing a traditional Schuhplattler dance to the satisfaction of their instructor while in 'Snag', teams ate a smorgasbord of German meats and pretzels. Ashleigh and Amanda, Jordan and Violeta, Holly and Dolor, Brendon and Jackson, and Chris and Aleisha went dancing while MJ and Chelsea, Stan and Wayne, Skye-Blue and Jake, and Jaskirat and Anurag ate the meal.

Teams set up camp after their Road Block out on the waters of Horseshoe Bay and departed in five minute intervals the following morning (starting with Jordan and Violeta), but before everyone headed out, Shane, who competed the previous day in the Road Block, found that his sore knee was inflamed to the point of being too painful to walk on. Medical was called into diagnose, the ambulance was brought in, and Shane decided that he was unable to continue on with the race. As they departed, the teams raced to Scallywags Cafe in Nelly Bay where they had to eat twenty dry Weet-Bix to get their next clue. No water or milk, of course.

Answer: Malaan and Tina

After the dunny races, teams needed to drive to Australian Age of Dinosaurs and complete an archaeological dig for thirty-three bone-shaped dinosaur puzzle pieces which they could use to create a 3D dinosaur model. If teams broke their pieces they would incur a ten minute time penalty at the Pit Stop (though only Malaan and Tina incurred this). When teams completed the task they could make their way to Winton's Truck Museum to sign up for a departure time in the morning, at which point they would need to successfully fit two wheels on an Aussie road train. Start times commenced as early as 7:00am, and each started five minutes apart. Since Holly and Dolor had the Salvage Pass, they bumped themselves to the top of the queue.

Answer: Prawns

Completing the bombing task, teams found the race's first Detour, a choice between 'Food' and 'Bev', both of which took teams to the Mossman Hotel. In 'Food', the teams had to prepare two kilograms of shrimp, removing the head, tail, and shell of each. In 'Bev', however, both members of each team had to carry seven schooners of beer along a complex path through the corridors and rooms of the hotel. The beers could not spill if they wanted to get their clue. Sefa and Jessica, Jaskirat and Anurag, Holly and Dolor, Chris and Aleisha, Shane and Deb, Malaan and Tina, Jude and Shannon, Dwes and Katherine, and Jobelle and Rani completed 'Food' while Brendon and Jackson, Ashleigh and Amanda, Alex and Jack, Skye-Blue and Jake, and Jordan and Violeta went for 'Bev'.

After the Detour, teams made their way by train to the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern where they had to write and perform a rap song based on a tune by Majeda. If teams could write a rhyming track to the beat about their time on the race they would get their Road Block clue, a task sending them to the Sydney Trapeze School in St. Peters. Here, Brendon, Jaskirat, and Ashleigh were selected to perform a unique stunt inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which they had to leap over a flaming beam and drop ten meters down onto a safety bag.

Answer: Brendon and Jackson

After the opera house task, teams were sent to the Emu Logic emu farm in Tooraweenah where they could choose between either 'Crack' or 'Corral'. Both tasks were simple in concept. 'Crack' forced teams to eat four raw eggs each (drawn from quail, duck, chicken, and emu) while 'Corral' had teams heading into the pens to herd ten emus into a separate enclosure. The task was followed by a U-Turn which, as per the rules of this race, required that the leading team U-Turn another. Because of this, Brendon and Jackson forced Chris and Aleisha to complete 'Crack'. Originally, only Jaskirat and Anurag went for that task.

Answer: One hundred & Hundred & A hundred & 100

Finishing their Detour tasks, teams drove to the Bush Inn in New Norfolk, but for their final task of the leg, they needed to intersect with another team. Once they arrived at the oldest continuously-operating inn in Australia, they needed to dig in and collectively shuck and eat one hundred Tasmanian oysters. For this task, Ashleigh and Amanda paired with Skye-Blue and Jake, MJ and Chelsea went with Jaskirat and Anurag, and Brendon and Jackson were placed with Chris and Aleisha. The latter two teams were expected to take penalty for leaving the task incomplete, partly due to Chris and Aleisha's veganism, but because they subsequently placed in the bottom two, making the penalty void.

Answer: Fourteen & 14

As the sun set in Brisbane, teams needed to head to the Ibis Hotel. There, both team members were given a chart of rooms and a pile of keycards and the goal was to turn the room lights on in each of the fourteen they were required to visit. Teams headed up to the top floor (the 26th) via elevator but had to work their way down to all subsequent rooms by the stairs which meant that any mistakes could only be remedied on foot. When all of the lights were on, the facade of the building would show a smiley face, but in the meantime, teams who completed the task could get their Pit Stop clue.

Answer: Swahili

After their Detour, teams had to head back into Adelaide with their Road Block clue in hand and find the Amazing Grace Gospel Church. Upon arrival, the 'most graceful' teammate selected would need to head inside and take lessons from a gospel choir member before hitting the stage and leading the full choir in a rendition of a Swahili song. If they did so to the choir's satisfaction and approval, they would walk away with their next clue. Violeta, MJ, Amanda, Holly, Wayne, Jake, Jaskirat, Brendon, and Chris were selected for this.

Answer: 'Build'

After the land regatta, teams were given a Detour clue forcing a choice between 'Build' or 'Bathe', both of which sent teams back into Alice Springs. In 'Build', teams visited Alice Springs Skate Park where they needed to construct and paint one of three types of skate ramp for local enthusiasts-- a grind box, a quarter-pipe, or a tabletop ramp. In 'Bathe', teams instead went to Pyndon Camel Farm to bathe, dry, and groom a camel. Dwes and Katherine, Jaskirat and Anurag, Amanda and Ashleigh, Chris and Aleisha, and Holly and Dolor went to 'Build' while Jordan and Violeta, Brendon and Jackson, and Skye-Blue and Jake headed to 'Bathe'.
