Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams took which mode of transportation to Adelaide at the start of Leg 11?

Answer: Train

Between Legs 10 and 11, the remaining nine teams hopped back aboard the Ghan, last travelled between the previous two legs, and made their way southeast to the coast to the city of Adelaide. Teams would be able to open their clue and start the leg when their train arrived at the station though, just like with any regular Pit Stop, teams departed in the order upon which they arrived at Crocodile Harry's Underground Nest.
2. In Leg 11, how long did teams have to search the Adelaide Oval before they had to start over?

Answer: Ten minutes

To begin Leg 11, teams needed to make their way to the Adelaide Oval Australian Rules stadium. There, they needed to head inside and find their team photo...but it wasn't so easy. While one team member took the skyclimb to the roof of the stadium, the other would be amongst the 50,000 seats on the ground.

The higher parter would be able to use a map and a megaphone to communicate the general location of the clue, but if the person on the ground didn't find it in ten minutes, they would be forced to go to the back of the line to try again.
3. Both Detour options encountered in Leg 11 involved customs originating in which nation?

Answer: Germany

After completing the Adelaide Oval task, teams received a Detour clue sending them to the small town of Hahndorf, known for its German heritage. Naturally, both tasks involved German things, and both could be found at the local inn. In 'Slap', teams had to put on lederhosen before learning and performing a traditional Schuhplattler dance to the satisfaction of their instructor while in 'Snag', teams ate a smorgasbord of German meats and pretzels. Ashleigh and Amanda, Jordan and Violeta, Holly and Dolor, Brendon and Jackson, and Chris and Aleisha went dancing while MJ and Chelsea, Stan and Wayne, Skye-Blue and Jake, and Jaskirat and Anurag ate the meal.
4. The Road Block in Leg 11 had team members learn to sing a song in what language?

Answer: Swahili

After their Detour, teams had to head back into Adelaide with their Road Block clue in hand and find the Amazing Grace Gospel Church. Upon arrival, the 'most graceful' teammate selected would need to head inside and take lessons from a gospel choir member before hitting the stage and leading the full choir in a rendition of a Swahili song. If they did so to the choir's satisfaction and approval, they would walk away with their next clue. Violeta, MJ, Amanda, Holly, Wayne, Jake, Jaskirat, Brendon, and Chris were selected for this.
5. Which team was first to arrive at the eleventh Pit Stop of the race in Adelaide?

Answer: MJ and Chelsea

Teams went from one church to another at the end of Leg 11, heading from the Amazing Grace Gospel Church at the end of their Road Block to Trinity Church, the oldest church in the city, to find Beau waiting at the eleventh Pit Stop. There, MJ and Chelsea won their second leg of the race, arriving to win in their hometown.

They once again won the First Class Pass, sparing them from participating in Leg 12. Chris and Aleisha were given a twenty minute time penalty for being unable to complete the Adelaide Oval task, so all other teams were able to check in before them save for Brendon and Jackson. MJ and Chelsea thus gave the Sabotage Pass to Chris and Aleisha for their consistent track record and the Salvage Pass to Brendon and Jackson.
6. During the twelfth leg of the race, teams headed to the Eyre Peninsula. There, the team in possession of the Salvage Pass were given which of these to aid them in their travels?

Answer: Electronic maps

Leaving early in the morning in Adelaide, teams were told to head to the airport to book a flight to Port Lincoln, a town resting on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. Upon arriving there, teams could race to the Fisherman's Memorial at the Port Lincoln Marina where they could locate their next clue.

Because Brendon and Jackson received the Salvage Pass at the end of Leg 11, they were granted the ability to use electronic maps throughout Leg 12 (via an iPad). Chris and Aleisha, meanwhile, were given the Sabotage Pass, which meant they could not ask for directions through the entirety of Leg 12.
7. During the 'Toss' Detour encountered in Port Lincoln (in Leg 12), teams had to toss which of these?

Answer: Tuna

At the Fisherman's Memorial, teams found their Detour tasks waiting in a fishing trap. In 'Toss', teams had to join in at the local Tunarama Tuna Toss. Taking a ten-kilogram fake tuna, they needed to work to heave it into three different ring targets to get their next clue.

In 'Roll', teams instead went to the Croatian Sporting Club to play bocce. Once they won ten games, they could receive their next clue. Holly and Dolor, Chris and Aleisha, and Ashleigh and Amanda went to 'Roll' while all of the other teams headed to 'Toss'.
8. Leg 12, held in Port Lincoln, featured which race mechanic as part of the course?

Answer: Intersection

After completing their Detour tasks, teams were surprised to find the race's second Intersection, forcing them to work together with other teams to accomplish tasks until further notice. This time around, the teams needed to head back to Port Lincoln Marina where they would link with another team and take a chartered boat to Hopkins Island.

There, diving into the chilly waters off the Australian coast, they would need to chain a length of metal chain to a buoy and swim four meters down to attach that chain to an anchor. Jaskirat and Anurag partnered with Brendon and Jackson, Skye-Blue and Jake chose Jordan and Violeta, Stan and Wayne went with Chris and Aleisha, and Holly and Dolor were stuck with Ashleigh and Amanda.
9. At Lincoln National Park, some team members were outfitted for a task on the dunes. Which of these was not part of this Leg 12 task?

Answer: Stopwatch

After their intersected challenge, the teams were split back up and told to make their way to the majestic Sleaford-Wanna Sand Dunes at Lincoln National Park. There, one team member would be blindfolded while their partner would be able to communicate with them via walkie-talkie.

The goal was for the blindfolded member to leave five flags at marked points on the dunes and then advance to the peak. For an additional challenge, the blindfolded team member would be wearing gumboots and walking backwards.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 12 and subsequently eliminated from the race?

Answer: Jordan and Violeta

After the flag task in the Sleaford-Wanna Sand Dunes, teammates could reunite with their partners and head onward on foot to the twelfth Pit Stop of the race down the paths of Lincoln National Park to an overlook at the edge of Boston Bay. Ashleigh and Amanda were the first team to arrive after a rollercoaster of a leg, landing on the mat to win an island getaway holiday courtesy of Daydream Island Resort and Living Reef and Ten Travel.

It was professional dancers Jordan and Violetta who landed on the mat last, and this time they were met with elimination, leaving only nine teams remaining in the race.
