Merwin's technician skills come into play if he is still alive when the group reaches the temple. Here, he will easily be able to repair a broken radio to allow the others to call for air support. This significantly changes the dynamic of the final battle at the end of the game, allowing anyone still alive at that point to receive air support to fight the vampires.

During this chapter, the player is controlling Eric. After a cutscene plays in which Eric debriefs his team on how they're going to handle a raid into an Iranian missile silo, the team breaks up to make preparations before moving out. The player will have five real life minutes to look around the room, during which they can pull up a newspaper. This is one of the game's secret items.

This can potentially come up in discussion between these two a few separate times. What happened according to Jason is that he ordered a civilian to put her hands up and drop a filled bag she had, as Jason assumed this bag had explosives in it and she was a suicide bomber. When she didn't obey Jason's order, Jason told Nick to shoot her, and he did- what was in her bag ended up being groceries, and she didn't obey the command because she had headphones over her ears and did not hear him.

The game is based in the year 2003, during which Eric and Rachel had been married for three years. They separate for roughly a full year, and just a few weeks before reuniting at Camp Slayer, Rachel enters an affair with Nick. Stubborn possibly can be attributed to Salim's persistence at avoiding becoming prejudiced towards certain groups of people, such as how Jason views Iraqis. On the other hand, courageous likely pertains to Salim's lack of fear in the face of vampires- it's this courageousness that allows him to eventually discover their weaknesses, which ends up being crucial to his potential escape from the underworld.

Confident likely comes from Jason's position of authority in the Marines, acquired by how he conducts himself- he is a strong leader who is well coordinated and handles himself and his subordinates on the battlefield quite well. Defensive likely stems from Nick's reluctance to enter combat unless absolutely forced into doing so- he is shown to be a pacifist, willingly working together with Salim and Dar to fend off vampires and refusing to instigate Eric (unless the player decides to have him do so) over their dilemma with Rachel. Said dilemma with Rachel also makes 'Romantic' fairly easy to explain, as he places a lot of weight onto his relationship with Rachel, even if she eventually rejects him, and this proves to be a fairly major part of his character development.

Answer: Commanding and Abrasive

Before Eric arrives, Rachel is Camp Slayer's commanding officer. Even after Eric assumes control, Rachel exhibits arguably better leadership skills than Eric and seems to have developed a good rapport with the Marines which end up underground with her. However, she is indeed quite abrasive and the player has the opportunity to make her extremely unlikeable. She is the only character in the game who can potentially reduce her relationship scores with all other main characters straight down to zero.

As it turns out, Caelus managed to locate a vast series of supplies and a few camps which a group of killed expeditioners left behind underground, and not an Iranian missile silo. As a result of the failed operation based strictly off of Caelus' shortcoming, Eric finds himself in a lot of trouble if he manages to survive the events of the video game.

Joey never provides any reason other than this being a superstition for why Clarice should never do this. Clarice being naturally disrespectful of authority, she immediately proceeds to do exactly this and then makes fun of Joey's superstition.

The player does have the option to hold Jason back and have him flee for the elevator- this does not necessarily condemn Salim to death, but it does make his survival harder to secure than if Jason was to go and save him. Here, the two fight off vampires and successfully make it to the elevator, provided that the player succeeds in their QTEs. If Jason goes for the elevator and then takes the elevator without waiting for Salim, this is where Salim is doomed to die- he will make it to the elevator, only to kneel in prayer as he sees it raising away from him in a corner as vampires close in and finish him off.

Eric has a total of seven different chapters in which he can die out of twenty-two playable chapters. This is one more than Rachel at six, who has two more than Salim and Nick, with four apiece.

Here, Vince is found by himself, enjoying a drink- likely an alcoholic one. Here, the player's interactions with him won't change the events of the story, but they can definitely change how Vince regards the character moving forward- with anger and hostility or empathy and understanding, and everything in between.

Answer: "The Horror"

During this chapter, vampires will attack the group's camp setup at the temple. Here, Dar will either be killed by Clarice in vampire form if she was never put out of her misery beforehand, or he will be overwhelmed by a small group of vampires and killed that way. He cannot survive this attack, but he also cannot die in anyway beforehand either.

The item in question is a Pazuzu figurine, which Eric does not recognize. Being a fan of horror movies, Rachel immediately recognizes who Pazuzu is.

Three weeks prior to Eric arriving at Camp Slayer, Rachel and Nick begin an affair that largely interrupts her relationship as Eric's wife. Depending on player decision, Rachel can either leave Eric entirely for Nick, stay faithful to Eric and leave Nick on the side, or reject both of them. If Rachel ultimately does not specifically choose Eric and Jason ends up being killed at any point before "The Ancient One", Eric can potentially and indirectly get Nick killed. Nick can potentially wander deep into a large set of vampire cocoons, where dozens of them along with the Ancient Warrior will follow him. Nick will call for help, and if Jason isn't there, Eric will be the only one who hears him. At this point, the player can decide to have Eric simply ignore the call for help- doing this will result in Nick being killed by the Ancient Warrior, and will earn the player an in-game trophy.

Answer: To honor the dead of 9/11

Depending on player decision to this point, Salim, who prompts Jason to discuss this subject, can either tell him that his reasoning for joining is good, or "think as you like"- suggesting Salim doesn't trust that Jason is being truthful. As it turns out, Jason was indeed lying. Still, honoring the dead is the reason he initially gives.

Answer: They can't be killed

No matter what, the demons who pursue the group can be evaded, but will never ever die in anyway. Despite their numerous physical maladies, they prove to be quite nimble and aggressive, causing them to be major threats.

Answer: To turn his life around

Jason further goes on to state that he was 'stoned out of his mind' during 9/11 and did not even realize it took place until a week after it happened. Jason tells Salim that he was extremely poor and did poorly in school, so he 'jumped at the chance' to sign up for the Marines.

Just one behind Eric's eleven, Rachel can die in all sorts of horrible, sometimes particularly graphic ways. Not for the faint of heart at all.

Jason says this in reference to Nick reaching for a cigarette carton. The reason this is important is that Nick turns out not to have a lighter to light his smokes- a lighter which Rachel had earlier that Eric clearly noticed. Once this takes place, the game will inform the player that Eric has figured out Nick has an affair ongoing with Rachel, his wife.

Nine playable chapters puts Nick just one ahead of Salim, who sits at eight. Surprisingly, Nick still does not have as many potential death cutscenes as Eric or Rachel despite the fact that they have less playable chapters than him.
