Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Each person within the US Marines in this game has a 'call sign' which is their identity over radio communication. What is Rachel's call sign?

Answer: King

Rachel's call sign is simply her last name, King. Dropkick is Eric's call sign, Jason goes by Mailman, while Pencilneck is simply Nick's nickname for Eric that he uses behind Eric's back.
2. Rachel is the only main character in the game who can potentially directly kill other characters, two of them to be exact. One of them is Eric, whom Rachel can potentially kill if she turns into a vampire at any point. Who is the other main character the player can potentially have her kill?

Answer: Salim

The Iraqis and Americans enter two armed conflicts while underground. During this time, it is possible for Eric to be killed by Salim. If this happens, later in the game, the player can potentially decide to have Rachel shoot and kill Salim in retaliation.
3. One fairly large secondary aspect of Rachel's character is her romantic relationship status. She is married to one of the main characters in this game and is in the midst of an affair with another. Who is she married to?

Answer: Eric

The game is based in the year 2003, during which Eric and Rachel had been married for three years. They separate for roughly a full year, and just a few weeks before reuniting at Camp Slayer, Rachel enters an affair with Nick. Depending on player decision, Rachel can potentially go back to Eric, decide to stay with Nick, or ultimately reject them both.
4. When introduced, each main character will have two personality traits assessed to them by the game. What are Rachel's two traits she begins the game with?

Answer: Commanding and Abrasive

Before Eric arrives, Rachel is Camp Slayer's commanding officer. Even after Eric assumes control, Rachel exhibits arguably better leadership skills than Eric and seems to have developed a good rapport with the Marines which end up underground with her.

However, she is indeed quite abrasive and the player has the opportunity to make her extremely unlikeable. She is the only character in the game who can potentially reduce her relationship scores with all other main characters straight down to zero.
5. One in-game achievement the player can potentially earn is "Ain't got time to bleed." This is earned by ending the game while making it so that no surviving character had a lingering injury. If, hypothetically, Rachel is the last character to survive, earning this achievement becomes quite easy. Why is this?

Answer: Rachel cannot ever be injured

Nick can potentially be injured during a fight with the Ancient Warrior, Salim can be injured while defending Rachel from the Ancient Warrior, Eric can be injured in several different ways, and Jason can potentially get injured trying to rescue Nick and/or Salim from The City. Rachel, however, either straight up dies or can't end the game injured. If she gets bitten and infected by a vampire, she will either turn into a vampire and eventually get killed, the infection will be purged and removed, or she will get put into a cocoon while the infection either passes or she gets abandoned in the cocoon and left to die.

This means if she's the only character a player manages to preserve until the end of the game, they will automatically earn this in-game achievement. Players struggling to earn this achievement thereby have the option of intentionally letting everyone else die.
6. While exploring the underworld with Eric, he locates an object, asks Rachel what it is, to which she will jokingly ask him if he's ever seen a certain kind of movie, proclaiming it to be her favorite. What is Rachel's favorite genre of movie?

Answer: Horror

The item in question is a Pazuzu figurine, which Eric does not recognize. Being a fan of horror movies, Rachel immediately recognizes who Pazuzu is.
7. Rachel's life proves relatively fragile in this game- she has the second most death cutscenes in this game, just behind Eric. How many death cutscenes does Rachel have in this game?

Answer: Ten

Just one behind Eric's eleven, Rachel can die in all sorts of horrible, sometimes particularly graphic ways. Not for the faint of heart at all.
8. During "The Horror" if Rachel is still alive at this point, she has been bitten and infected by a vampire which causes a good deal of contention and debate amongst any other characters still alive. A few different things can happen to Rachel at this point- which of the following is not one of them?

Answer: Rachel turns into a vampire and attacks the group

Rachel has the option to quite literally burn herself to death at this point, which is about as horrific and graphic as it sounds- definitely do not choose this option unless you're either prepared to look away from the screen for awhile, or have the capacity to endure a pretty graphic death scene. On a much more optimistic note, if Eric is alive and has the UV Lamp in his possession, he can shine the light onto Rachel which will force the parasite in her body to climb out and flee, thus essentially removing the infection entirety. If Eric is not alive or he does not have the UV Lamp, if Salim is alive, he can suggest that Rachel be sealed away into a cocoon as to try and preserve her body and outlast the infection- this can eventually end up working as long as at least one character survives the trip into The City and the player decides to have them return to the cocoon and free Rachel. If Jason is alive, the player can decide to have him put Rachel out of her misery in a much less agonizing way by simply shooting her in the head quickly and being done with it then and there.

Alternatively, the player can decide to simply take no particular action and forge onward. Doing this ensures Rachel will later turn into a vampire and attack the group, though that doesn't take place immediately.
9. While Rachel definitely has some grim moments in this game, she also has one particular moment where it's her time to shine- in the main temple area once it's being attacked by vampires, Rachel and Rachel only can briefly take up a particularly powerful tool to fight them with. What can Rachel use here?

Answer: A heavy machine gun

As the group tries to fend off the vampires, the player will eventually gain control of Rachel. During this time, they can either decide to have her simply flee the area as everyone else falls back, or she can operate a giant machine gun to try and hold off the vampires and buy more time for her allies to escape. Choosing to man the machine gun will immediately earn the in-game achievement "Chekhov's Gun." It is possible for Rachel to be killed doing this, but only if the player fails multiple QTEs. Succeeding at all QTEs will see Rachel blast backward roughly two dozen vampires and then easily escape with the rest of her group.
10. If Rachel manages to survive until "The Horror," she will be infected. Before the group or herself decides how handle her infection, she will have an epiphany of sorts where she witnesses a vision of how the vampires managed to arrive on Earth in the first place. From where did the vampires originate from?

Answer: Outer space

Rachel, likely as a result of a vampiric parasite in her body, sees a vision of a spaceship of some sort hurtling towards the Earth with a few vampires within it. The player doesn't get anymore context, but it becomes clear that the vampires travelled to Earth from outer space itself and then decided to take refuge in the underworld thousands of years prior to the events of this game.
