Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Each person within the US Marines in this game has a 'call sign' which is their identity over radio communication. What is Nick's call sign?

Answer: Mailman Three

Jason's call sign is Mailman. Nick is Jason's subordinate, as Jason is the leader of their particular squad under Camp Slayer. Corporal Merwin and Corporal Joey held the call signs of Mailman One and Mailman Two, respectively, leaving Nick to be Mailman Three.
2. Shortly after falling underground, Nick and Jason stumble upon Merwin, dangling and caught amidst a bundle of barbed wires which have him suspended in mid air. Upon getting him down, it's discovered that Merwin is in really bad shape and requires immediate first aid. Here, it is possible for Nick to accidentally end up killing Merwin. How would Nick end up doing this?

Answer: Suffocating him

Leaving Merwin behind is more of a team oriented decision, with the player having the ability to have Jason order Nick to do so. Nick would end up killing Merwin by holding Merwin's mouth shut to stop his moans of pain, as to avoid being found while hiding from nearby vampires. Doing this will cause Nick to end up suffocating Merwin to death.
3. Nick carries some baggage with him, traumatized by an event prior to he game that took place under Jason's orders. What did Jason accidentally order Nick to do previously?

Answer: Kill a civilian

This can potentially come up in discussion between these two a few separate times. What happened according to Jason is that he ordered a civilian to put her hands up and drop a filled bag she had, as Jason assumed this bag had explosives in it and she was a suicide bomber.

When she didn't obey Jason's order, Jason told Nick to shoot her, and he did- what was in her bag ended up being groceries, and she didn't obey the command because she had headphones over her ears and did not hear him.
4. When introduced, each main character will have two personality traits assessed to them by the game. What are Nick's two traits he begins the game with?

Answer: Defensive and Romantic

Defensive likely stems from Nick's reluctance to enter combat unless absolutely forced into doing so- he is shown to be a pacifist, willingly working together with Salim and Dar to fend off vampires and refusing to instigate Eric (unless the player decides to have him do so) over their dilemma with Rachel. Said dilemma with Rachel also makes 'Romantic' fairly easy to explain, as he places a lot of weight onto his relationship with Rachel, even if she eventually rejects him, and this proves to be a fairly major part of his character development.
5. In the beginning of the game, Eric does not immediately realize Nick is in an affair with his wife, Rachel. He is finally able to piece this together when the two of them and Jason get a break in the action while holding up in the temple. However, it's not because Nick outright tells Eric what's going on. What does Nick do that causes Eric to realize what's going on?

Answer: Nick tries to smoke a cigarette

Earlier in the game, Eric noticed Rachel had a lighter with her, which was used to light a dark cavern. When Nick reaches for a carton of cigarettes, Eric notices that he tries to find a lighter to light them with but doesn't have one. Using this, he pieces together that the lighter Rachel had was in fact belonging to Nick, and the game will inform the player that Eric has figured out Nick is in an affair with Rachel.
6. There is an in-game achievement titled "Oorah!" In order to achieve this, Nick must be alive as he emerges from the vault via the elevator. Along with him, this character and this character only must also be alive, and everyone else must be dead. Which character must be the only one left alive along with Nick to earn this achievement?

Answer: Eric

In addition, Nick's relationship score with Eric must be higher than it was when the game started at bare minimum; between the conflicts they will have over gaining Rachel's affection, this is actually a little bit tricky! Still, if this benchmark is met and Eric and Nick are the only characters left alive as they leave the vault, they will do a bit of bonding as the elevator takes them upward and the player will earn the "Oorah!" achievement.
7. When setting up defenses at the temple, Jason and Nick will discuss their past shared trauma. Nick will ask Jason if he's managed to overcome and shake off the trauma, and Jason will tell him that he has. Nick seems to know Jason is lying about this- how does Nick figure Jason is lying?

Answer: Jason said the same thing twice

When Nick asks Jason if he's put the events behind him, Jason says "Yes, I have. I sure as hell have." Off of this, Nick correctly calls Jason out for lying.
8. As it happens, Nick has the most chapters in this game out of any character in which he is directly playable. How many chapters can the user play as Nick in the Theatrical Cut?

Answer: Nine

Nine playable chapters puts Nick just one ahead of Salim, who sits at eight. Surprisingly, Nick still does not have as many potential death cutscenes as Eric or Rachel despite the fact that they have less playable chapters than him.
9. To earn the "Ghost Signal" in-game achievement, one particular character must still be alive at "The Horror" and this character must have a particularly poor relationship score with Nick. Who is this?

Answer: Eric

If Eric is still alive at this point and his relationship score with Nick is low, the player must have Nick venture deep into the Vault to attach explosives to the large cocoon of vampires. After doing so, a myriad of vampires and the Ancient Warrior (if alive) will attack him here, prompting him to call for help using a walkie talkie. If the prerequisites mentioned earlier have been met, Eric will hear this call and ignore it, lying to anyone else still alive and telling them Nick didn't call for help- this causes anyone other than Eric to believe Nick was killed. Nick will be killed if this takes place, easily being overwhelmed when left to fend for himself.

This will also grant the player the "Ghost Signal" achievement.
10. While anyone can die during "Daylight," where the final conflict of the game takes place, Nick's potential death is quite... different from the others. Where the other four who could still be alive here with him could mostly just get mauled by vampires as a means of death, if the player messes up QTEs with Nick, a vampire who breaks open a hole in the roof of their farm house deals with Nick in a unique way. How will Nick die here if the player messes up his QTEs?

Answer: Fall from a long height

If enough QTEs are failed, Nick will be dragged through the open hole of the roof, the vampire carrying him will take flight, and it will then drop him from an incredibly high elevation and he will be killed upon hitting the ground outside the house.
