Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For the playable characters, the story commences with which of these events?

Answer: Bus crash

As it appears, at some point in the not-so-distant past, the Clarke Family is having some issues. While Anne and James argue, Megan listens on from the hall. Anthony and Dennis hang out in the living room as the family gets comfortable for the evening and Tanya, the oldest daughter, gets home from a night out. Everyone realizes that the youngest, Megan, is out of sorts, though none of them keep track of her while she locks her mother into the bathroom while she's in the tub. Anthony will leave a kettle on the stove while he goes to check on her.

The catch is that he won't see her enter the kitchen, followed by an unseen being that only she can hear. She'll go near the stove when her doll catches on fire on the burner, sparking a massive fire that sets the house ablaze. Anthony, locked out of the house, will be nearly powerless to watch as the rest of the Clarke family dies in the blaze via different means. It doesn't matter who he tries to save.

Leaving a roadside diner late in the evening, a bus will head down a winding, forest road until a large accident forces it to take a detour through the nearby town of Little Hope. Distracted by the passengers seated behind him, the driver will fail to notice a little girl standing in the middle of the road and he'll crash the vehicle. The player characters will wake up in the wreck.
2. Which of these appears to prevent the group from returning the way they came?

Answer: A dense fog

Andrew awakens from a dream of the Clarke funeral to find Jack and Taylor checking on his well-being. Uncertain of where he is, it appears he was concussed in the accident. They did, fortunately, survive the crash. While Taylor hunts for a phone signal, John checks for other survivors, finding both Daniel and Angela in the nearby ditch. Though split up, everyone decides to head down along the road until they can reunite, finally doing so when they find a gate in the fence nearby.

Things are weird though. Andrew speaks of a dream-- of the Clarke family-- that seemed uncannily real; no one can get reception on their phones. As they pass by the sign for Little Hope, John remarks that it's a town that was famous for its witch trials in the time of Salem.

Despite much of the group wanting to head onward to the village to find help or a phone, Taylor seems insistent on staying at the bus, and Daniel offers to accompany her to stay together. When they try to return the way they came, however, they find themselves walking through dense fog and reemerging right where they started, with the rest of the survivors. They have nowhere to go but onward.
3. Vince will be met by the group when they encounter which of these locations?

Answer: A bar

The first spot that the bus crash survivors encounter is the Black Cat Bar, and seeing a figure inside, they let themselves in and ask for help. The only person inside is Vince, who asserts that the town is somewhat dead and that they might have a bit of trouble. A bell tolls in the distance and they decide to keep heading onward, up the road.

While sounds persist in the woods around them, Andrew and Angela will find a small fire pit by the side of the road and encounter a young girl by the name of Mary, who not only follows them along the route, but pulls them into a vision of the past, much to the rest of the group's disbelief (as they see nothing).

The plot will thicken when the group reaches an intersection, and beyond this, they'll all encounter Mary at a covered bridge leading to the village proper. John and Angela will step forward to speak to the girl and, in the midst of a dense fog, be pulled into the past once again, but this time, a cloaked woman by the name of Amy, there to collect Mary, will reveal herself to look almost exactly like Angela.

The whole group, realizing that they may be encountering the supernatural, will have different ideas of what route to pursue. Taylor and Daniel will walk over to the nearby middle school to avoid the covered bridge while John and Andrew will take the direct route to town; Angela will choose between the two.
4. Andrew has the possibility of finding which of these items in the floorboards of an abandoned hut?

Answer: Gun

When the group splits up at the covered bridge, one set of characters will head towards Little Hope Middle School and encounter a vision of Mary at the playground, transporting through time to witness her being caught by Reverend Carver and accusing Amy of being a witch. The route will lead them down a foggy hillside and to a long-unused general store where more visions will persist, at least for Daniel, to let history unfold.

The group that takes the bridge will head towards town but be pushed offtrack by a noise (which turns out to be Vince on his bike). The new route will bring them down a path to a hut, and beyond that, the town-- specifically the police station, which they'll break into. On this route, Andrew has the opportunity to look into an old hut and, provided he keeps his cool, he can find a gun inside, possibly deciding to carry it with him for the remainder of the story.

Inside the police station the group will find a rotary phone with no cable and, spookily, it will ring for them, projecting Amy's voice on the other side as she pleads her innocence in trial. In this vision, Mary will experience a seizure while Amy is questioned by the authorities, but when she lays her hands on her and seems to cures her, the townspeople will take this as an indication that she's possessed by the devil.

Both divided groups will reunite and head to the main road to find a nearly-collapsed bridge that they will all attempt to cross, and after John and Andrew bear witness to a vision of Amy being drowned in the river for witchcraft (accusing Mary in her last breath), the first major supernatural attack will occur. Below the bridge, a whirlpool churns and a chained ghoul will start to crawl from the black water. Here, Andrew will have a choice of who to help climb up to higher ground-- John or Angela-- but Angela is truly the only one at risk here. If she's not successful in getting away from the water quickly enough, she'll be the first main character to meet her fate.

All said and done, the group will be split once again.
5. If Angela survives the bridge crossing, she will, without fail, face her demonic doppelganger once again in which setting?

Answer: The sewers

The group that managed to cross the broken bridge will run and make it to Little Hope's graveyard, once again finding themselves on the trail of the girl from earlier. If, at this point, Angela is still alive and with Andrew and John, she'll be distracted long enough to be caught out by her ghostly doppelganger, getting dragged into the sewers beneath Little Hope to meet her fate (one way or the other).

Taylor and Daniel, meanwhile, will be off in the woods together looking for a way to reunite with the others, and they'll find themselves pulled into more than one vision, the first seeing Joseph (John's doppelganger), assuring them that Mary was, in fact, evil the whole time, her actions and concert with the Devil being directly responsible for getting Amy killed.

The two will make it to Little Hope Museum shortly after Andrew and John have already left, and it's there that Taylor will encounter her own doppelganger, Tabitha, being dragged out of the building, accused of being a witch, herself. Before the pair leave, there's a chance that they may find a knife waiting on one of the tables in a previously-locked office, and this might sway future encounters in their direction, depending on who decides to hold onto it.
6. Daniel's doppelganger, David, was killed in the past by which means?

Answer: Tossed from the bell tower

Once Taylor and Daniel leave the museum and pass by the old execution site, the duo will bear witness to Tabitha's death (via one of two means) in another vision, and this will bring them face-to-face with Taylor's demonic doppelganger in the present day, forcing them to flee. They'll come across Andrew and John en route to Little Hope Church and all of them will take refuge inside. Interestingly, they'll pass by Vince on the way in who, nonplussed about the situation, will take action depend on what Andrew does in this moment-- he'll either search for help or he'll call the cops.

In the church, Daniel will acknowledge that the's next in line to encounter his doppelganger as his double was next to be accused (in the past). Megan will reappear, and Andrew and Daniel will ascend the bell tower to get her, but it'll lead to yet another vision, this one showing David's violent death by impaling, a consequence of any number of inevitabilities. Ultimately, the death was Reverend Carver's doing as he forced the town's law enforcement to let David fall from the tower. Daniel tried to save his double, grabbing him by his bindings, but it inadvertently appeared that David was levitating as a result. Mary, as it seemed, begged the reverend not to kill David.

Whether they stay or go after this event, the group will end up making a mad dash from the church to save themselves from Taylor and Daniel's doubles. Daniel could die here, if he's not careful enough; so could Taylor, as she gets lost in the fog. With a little bit of luck and nerve, they'll reunite with the others and evade death (for now).
7. Andrew's double, and Mary's final keeper, was who of the following?

Answer: Abraham

Unsure of what to do, the group rests in place for a bit, with Andrew even managing to nod off a little. The rest is short, but good enough for everyone to take stock, allowing John to assert that Mary is likely the key to understanding what's keeping them in Little Hope. If they can stop her, they can stop the fog and leave.

If Angela survived the bridge and the sewer, she'll emerge from the fog and rejoin the group... provided Andrew either doesn't have a gun in his possession or provided he doesn't fire the one he has.

A short walk through the woods will spur the demons to catch up and, in a clearing, Andrew will have a possible choice to save either Daniel or Taylor from their doppelganger (provided they've made it this far). Both can survive this encounter, but at least one of them will likely need the help.

Everyone who makes it past this encounter will head along the dirt road, closer to their final destination, as fireflies appear in the forest trees. Andrew will be pulled into another blast from the past, this one involving Abraham, Mary's keeper, who bears a striking resemblance to himself. And in this vision, he can convince his double to blame one potential cause or the other-- Mary or Reverend Carver-- to see what happens next.
8. The further that certain characters make it through the story, the more likely they are to die as a consequence of which of these?

Answer: Their locked traits

Before long, as the group heads towards a derelict building, everyone will face their demons in succession. The first, if she's alive, will be Taylor, and she'll need to keep her wits about her to break free of its clutches and run away. She'll also be the first, if she's able to make it through, to break past her locked traits to overcome her demons. The more locked traits she's accumulated, the harder this will be.

The next, inside, will be Daniel. After another vision in which Abraham is questioned by the court and Mary is placed, at last, under Reverend Carver's care, the group will realize that not only do they look similar to the people from the distant past, but also to a family of locals-- the Clarkes-- as indicated by photos in the factory they've come across. In the midst of this, Daniel's demons will catch up. This last fight will be held in a pit, and either he'll be impaled on the creature's spears, or he'll be able to pull through (perhaps with Andrew's help).

The group will reunite outside-- at least the survivors will-- and be able to proceed to their final destination: the ruins of the old Clarke House, which Andrew will recognize from his dream at the start of the adventure. Naturally, it's the perfect opportunity for Mary to drag some of the group back in time, just to witness Joseph's death as he's crushed under the weight of numerous heavy rocks, a consequence of pushing back against Reverend Carver's wishes. Nothing they do will prevent this from taking place, though some of their actions in the past may show, once again, as manifestations of an evil force.
9. Which of these is not amongst the options that Andrew can make during Mary's trial?

Answer: To blame Abraham for summoning the Devil

Reaching the Clarke House, the situation will escalate for the remaining members of the group who have both survived and not had their chance to break free of their demons' grasps.

Angela will be the first of these, needing to escape the drowned demon and its spectral chains; she can do this with her own abilities, but a bit of support from John and his found sledgehammer will also be good support.

The second will be John who, seemingly safe until this point in the story, will be attacked by his demon before he can get into the house. Facing it down and knowing the others are there to support him will give him the boost he needs to escape and lock the creature out.

And with that, the group can explore the site of their last stand, the Clarke House, where anyone who's survived to this point will be trapped by the demons waiting outside. Upstairs, the group will finally find Mary and be privy to one last journey into the past where the young girl will beg for help, now being the subject of Reverend Carver's wrath. All of this leaves Andrew with the final choice; he can either blame Mary for the deaths of those in Little Hope and setting her up to be burned at the stake, he can have her poppet burned, setting fire to the courthouse, or he can have Abraham call out Reverend Carver, leading the judge to discover the occult symbols in his Bible.

This choice, along with a handful of other pivotal moments and decisions, will determine how the story comes to a close.
10. In nearly all possible endings it's revealed that Andrew is actually who of these?

Answer: The bus driver

Depending on whether or not Mary was killed based on Andrew's last choices, the others may or may not survive their time in Little Hope. If Mary survived the trial, those who overcame their demons would be able to leave freely, but failure to have broken their locked traits earlier on will spell their doom.

Andrew, meanwhile, will leave the house no matter what, stepping outside as the sun rises to encounter Vince who, as it turns out, had always known who Andrew was. The mystery of the missing bus driver is solved when, it's revealed, Andrew was him the whole time. Worse still, all four of his companions-- the alleged passengers-- never existed at all, but were manifestations of his troubled mind, a consequence of being the sole survivor of the fire at the Clarke House decades ago.

Depending on other choices made during the story, Andrew/Anthony will either leave Little Hope with a sense of closure, or he'll leave in the back of a cop car. Worse, if he has the gun on him and lost the other members of his group before realizing that they never actually existed, he could decide to end it all right then and there.
