Answer: grape

Grape-vine, grape juice, grape grower, grape variety (of which there are many), and of course grapefruit.
2. -melon, -World, -logged

Answer: water

I think the -logged probably gave that one away.
3. -pie, -Lane, -blossom, -Hill

Answer: cherry

Cherry pies are great with coffee if you've never tried it, Cherry Lane is a band, Cherry blossom is a plant, and Cherry Hill is in New Jersey.
4. -River, -belly, -stone, -pages

Answer: yellow

Yellow River, yellow belly means a coward, Yellowstone National Park and of course the good old Yellow Pages!
5. -straw, -draft, -episode, -Frontier, -curtain

Answer: final

The final straw, the final draft (my favourite), the final episode, the 'Final Frontier' (a UK TV show), and the final curtain (another way of saying the end).
6. On to 5 questions of 'cryptic' style. Here's the first: Mr. E could not solve the riddle.

Mr.E = mystery (riddle)

Mo + ham + ed = Mohamed, correct spelling Mohammed (but I allowed for the error too).

2 big clues here, Bill for Bill Gates, and fee = bill.

A bit of a toughie, there are 3 P's in Pippa, and peas are the vegetable I was after.
