When Harry goes to Hogsmeade under the invisibility cloak because he doesn't have permission to go, he, Ron and Hermione go into The Three Broomsticks pub. After they have got their Butterbeers, Professor McGonagall, Hagrid, Professor Flitwick and Cornelius Fudge enter the pub. Harry goes under the table so the teachers don't see him and Hermione moves a Christmas tree beside their table, blocking them from view. Cornelius goes and orders the drinks then Madame Rosmerta comes with them.

She has a small gillywater for Professor McGonagall, four pints of mulled mead for Hagrid, a cherry syrup and soda with ice and umbrella for Professor Flitwick and red currant rum for Cornelius Fudge.

At the beginning of the book, Harry is doing his homework about witch burning in the fourteenth century. Harry uses the book "A History of Magic" by Bathilda Bagshot. In the book it explains that in the fourteenth century when witches and wizards were caught, they got burnt, but they used a Flame-Freezing Charm to protect them from the flames.

It then goes on to explain that there was a witch called Wendelin the Weird who enjoyed being burnt so much that she got caught at least forty seven times in different disguises.

When Harry and Hermione have gone back in time, after Harry fights off the dementors, they see Professor Snape taking their bodies away on stretchers. When Hagrid is teaching his first Care of Magical Creatures lesson, he shows the class hippogriffs. Draco pretends he has got a broken arm so Hagrid will get into trouble.

In the next Potions lesson he tells Professor Snape that he can't cut his daisy roots and skin his shrivelfig. Professor Snape tells Ron to cut Draco's daisy roots for him and tells Harry to skin Draco's shrivelfig.

When Harry gets to Hogsmeade by using the Marauders Map and his invisibility cloak, he finds Ron and Hermione in Honeydukes in the furthest corner of the shop under a hanging sign saying "Unusual Tastes". Harry sneaks up behind them when they are looking at a tray of blood-flavoured lollipops and is listening to them saying what they are going to get for him.

"'Urgh, no, Harry won't want one of those, they're for vampires, I expect', Hermione was saying.
'How about these?' said Ron, shoving a jar of Cockroach Clusters under Hermione's nose.
'Definitely not', said Harry."

When Harry and Ron were starting their second year at Hogwarts, they couldn't get through the barrier to platform nine and three quarters because Dobby sealed it so they couldn't get through. They decided to travel to the school by flying car and. when the got there, the car landed in the Whomping Willow tree tat smashed the car up, Ron broke his wand then and had a bad one all through his second year.

When Harry, Ron and Hermione are in Diagon Alley before starting their third year at Hogwarts, Ron has been to Ollivander's and bought himself a new wand that is 14 inches, willow and unicorn hair.
