He was the second U.S. president to be impeached, and was charged by the House of Representatives with perjury and obstruction of justice.

He was acquitted, because the vote fell short of the needed 2/3 majority.

"Show Boat" was based on a book by Edna Ferber and made into a musical in 1927, featuring the music of Jerome Kern and the lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein.
It was the first lavish musical of its kind and rather a risky adventure, since it dealt with life on the Mississippi River and the issues of racial prejudice. William Darrell "Billy" Mays was born in Pennsylvania in 1958. He attended West Virginia U for 2 years where he played linebacker for the football team.
After dropping out of school, he worked briefly for his father before moving to Atlantic City. There, on the Boardwalk, he learned his trade from experienced salesmen. He traveled across the country to home shows, auto shows and state fairs selling various cleaning products and tools.
His big break came when he met Max Appel, founder of Orange Glo International. They agreed on a partnership and Mays became the company pitchman on the Home Shopping Network in St. Petersburg, Florida. His bombastic style led to an increase of sales, but was criticized by the media.
In 1999 he moved to Dunedin, Florida and started his own company, called Mays Productions. He became a mentor for other would-be salesmen and also appeared on ESPN, ABC's college football, and on the Tonight Show.

His life came to a sudden and tragic end on June 28, 2009 when he was found dead at his home. The autopsy report cited hypertension and cocaine use as the cause of death.
