Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the movie, "The Incredibles", what is the password that Syndrome used to protect his secret plans?

Answer: Kronos

There's an old (1957) sci-fi movie called "Kronos" about a large machine that fell from they sky and destroyed a city. The Incredibles also featured an evil robot that fell from the sky and destroyed a city. Connection, anyone?
2. What is the password to planet Druidia's air shield in the movie "Spaceballs"?

Answer: 12345

When Dark Helmet first heard the password, he said "12345? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard of in my life!" I think most of us agree on that.
3. Okay, so you're in the world of Harry Potter and you've completed the first task of the Tournament, thanks to your trusty Firebolt, and now, as a reward for defeating the Hungarian Horntail, you've got this golden egg. Cedric, a fellow Champion, tells you to try taking a bath in the Prefect's bathroom on the fifth floor. He tells you the password, too. What was the password again?

Answer: Pine Fresh

The book I'm talking about is, of course, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." "Fizzing Whizbee" and "Lemon Drop" are both passwords to Dumbledore's office and "Wattlebird" is a password to the Gryffindor common room.
4. In the tale of "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves", what word(s) undoes the magic that seals that cave containing the treasure?

Answer: Open, Sesame!

I hope you got this one right; it's perhaps one of, if not the most famous of all passwords in literature. The cave seals itself again upon hearing the words "Close, Sesame."
5. What was the password that former U.S. President Bill Clinton used when signing the U.S. Digital Signature Bill?

Answer: Buddy

The password was named after his dog. It is often ridiculed for the fact that it is so simple a password for something so important. Password security websites often use it an example of what not to do.
6. Stephen W. Falken is a fictional character in the 1983 film "WarGames". What was the password that he used?

Answer: Joshua

The password was the name of Falken's son. The main character in the movie, David Lightman, uses that password to access the War Operation Plan Response computer system (WOPR) and plays the famous game, "Global Thermonuclear War".
7. In the Lord of the Rings trilogy, what is the password to the western gate of Moria?

Answer: Friend

The elvish, formally called Sindarin, word for "friend" is "mellon." When the Fellowship attempts to pass the mountain Caradhras, Saruman stops them, and they are forced to travel through the Mines of Moria.
8. According to Boris Ivanovich Grishenko, from the James Bond film, "Goldeneye", you sit on this, but you can't take it with you. What is it?

Answer: Chair

It is the password to his search program which "seizes the phone line of whoever's tracing [him] and jams their modem." Natalia uses the same program later in the movie to uncover the bad guys' secret hideout.
9. According to the 1995 film, "Hackers", which of the following is NOT one of the four most commonly used passwords?

Answer: Power

The movie, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie, is about a young hacker named Dade Murphy and his friends. They crack into the supercomputer of a petroleum company and download a garbage file. And soon enough, they realize that this file is nothing that can be labeled as "garbage." The film failed to make a profit at the box office.
10. In the 1932 Marx Brothers movie "Horse Feathers", what is the password that Professor Wagstaff uses to gain access to a speakeasy guarded by Baravelli?

Answer: Swordfish

In the movie, Baravelli actually tells Professor Wagstaff the password ("Hey, what's-a matter, you no understand English? You can't come in here unless you say, 'Swordfish.' Now I'll give you one more guess.") so I thought it'd be quite fitting to tell you the password also in the hint. I hope you liked this quiz!
