In June 2001, for the programme "Ripley's: Believe It or Not", a stunt man named Dave Baria went up to 10,000 feet in a helicopter and then threw himself out attached only to 1,800 feet of bungee cord. The stunt man, when the cord had reached its maximum stretching point, had fallen 6,000 feet setting the new record.

The record is held by the Coral reef pygmy goby (Eviota sigillata). A team from the James Cook university in Australia wrote about the small fish in science journal "Current Biology". The previous holder of the title was the African fish turquoise killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) which lives in the seasonal rain pools of equatorial Africa and must complete its life cycle before the pool dries up.

Answer: Chicago Cubs

The Cubs were created in 1902 when they were sold to Jim Hart. They claimed the pennant with 21 wins in a row in September of 1935. This is the longest winning streak, without ties. But if you include ties then the record goes to the 1916 New York Giants who won 14 games in a row then tied one before winning a further 12 games.

There is a flight between Papa Westray and Westray Islands in the Orkneys which is claimed to be the shortest scheduled route in aviation history. The flight time is, generally, two to three minutes in length. Though the quickest time, to cover the 1.5 nautical miles distance, was 58 seconds by Capt. Andrew Alsop.

An obelisk is a tall four-sided shaft of stone with a pyramidal top. It is monolithic and tapered. The San Jacinto obelisk in La Porte, Texas, was dedicated on April 21, 1939. It stands 173.7 metres tall and has a 220 ton commemorative star on top of it. It was created to commemorate the site of the Battle of San Jacinto which had been fought on April 21, 1836.

The pint-sized "Romeo" comes from the town of Phagwara and is trained by Ranjeet Pal. He trains by lifting specially created dumbbells that weigh 1.5kg and is trying to get into the entertainment business.

On September 5, 1991, Sally Mae Wallace, Mississippi, went to hospital to have a tapeworm removed from her body. In one continuous length the tapeworm was extracted, through her mouth, measuring 37 feet. She should be thankful because a tapeworm can grow over 100 feet in length inside the body of a whale.

The Strait of Malacca is the main shipping channel between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It links many important economic markets like China, India, South Korea and Japan. Nearly one quarter of the world's traded goods passed through the narrow 500 mile stretch of water between West Malaysia and Sumatra.

At Phillips Channel the Strait narrows to 1.5 nautical miles resulting in a natural bottle-neck occurring.

Both the Jeita Cavern and the Doolin cave are contestants for the longest stalactite.
