Answer: Fall of 1943

No documents can be found confirming the event but every person who has told of this has said it happened during the fall of 1943.
2. What was the name of the ship tested in the Philadelphia Experiment?

Answer: USS Eldridge

The ship's log states that it was never in Philadelphia and that it was in New York most of the time.
3. What was the main purpose in testing the ship?

Answer: To achieve invisibility to sight and radar

They were trying to turn the ship invisible. The crew also was supposed to disappear with the ship, but it wasn't just the crew disappearing.

Answer: Norfolk, Virginia

The ship was engulfed in a green mist, and then once it disappeared it was seen in Norfolk. After a few moments, the ship disappeared once again and returned to Philadelphia.

It was a gruesome sight. Sailors were missing, throwing up, fused to the ship, some with missing body parts and some lying around dead. They were forced to mercy kill the sailors fused to the ship. But some of the men were just dazed and turned out fine. None of them were said to be missing hair and/or discolored.
