Answer: Clement Attlee

Attlee won in 1945 and 1950. He had also called a General Election in 1951, but he lost.

Tony Blair accomplished this feat after him. He was originally elected by a landslide in 1997, and followed it up with a slightly-smaller-slide in 2001.

3. Who commanded armies in Egypt and Italy, before rising to become First Consul and then Emperor of his adopted nation?

Answer: Napoleon Bonaparte

Ol' Bony originally hailed from Corsica, which was under French control at the time, and swiftly rose to become leader of the French due to his organisational ability, energy, and military successes (and the political machinations of his brother Lucien).

Fluorine is a poisonous gas, magnesium is naturally present in the water table. I just made up 'colgatium' (but I'd guess you'd guessed).

If his favorite food is thistles then no wonder he's generally a little miffed.
