In the 18th=20th centuries the Prussian aritocracy was widely referred to as the Junkers (pronounced YOON-KERS). A drug addict is called a junkie, Chinese sailboats are called junks, and Freud's psychologist buddy is named Jung, (pronounced YOONG).

Buddhists believe in a concept called 'no self,' meaning that original identity is generated (there's more to it but I forgot that part from my unit on Buddhism in religious studies 101). Features in 'No Self' magazine include 'Top Ten favorite Koans' and 'How to tell if you're reaching nirvana.'

Garibaldi is also the name of an Italian guerilla leader of the 19th century who led his 'red shirts' to victory and unified Italy.

Garibaldi biscuits are popular in the UK, and are sometimes given the less than appetizing nickname 'squashed fly biscuit' because of the embedded currants.
