Answer: annapolis maryland

Maryland's capital was originally called "Providence" when it was settled by the Puritans. As trappers, gold prospectors, and missionaries came into the area, townships developed, encroaching upon ancient hunting grounds. It was inevitable that conflicts grew between the white men and the Native Americans. The Sioux and Cheyenne were victorious in 1876 at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce won a battle in the Big Hole Basin (1877) but in the end, the Native Americans could not hold out against the strength of the invading United States army.
