1. Myanmar

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, also known as Burma, is located on the Indochinese peninsula (Indochina). The outline of its map resembles a kite.

Myanmar borders Bangladesh, China, India, Laos, and Thailand. In 2005, the capital city of Myanmar was relocated from Yangon to Naypyidaw.

3. Laos

The Lao People's Democratic Republic, or Laos, is the only landlocked Southeast Asian nation. The country borders Cambodia, China, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

Located in north central Laos, the city of Luang Prabang was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The city is noted for its rich cultural heritage.
4. Cambodia

The Kingdom of Cambodia, also known as Kampuchea, borders Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Cambodia is noted for its Angkor Wat, which is the world's largest religious complex by land area.
5. Vietnam

The Socialist Republic of Vietnam borders Cambodia, China, and Laos. The country occupies the eastern region of the Indochinese peninsula. The outline of the map of the nation resembles an S-shaped curve.

Located in the northeastern coast of Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a popular tourist destination. The site is noted for its breathtaking and untouched limestone karst formations.
6. Malaysia

Malaysia is the only country in the world that has lands on both the Indochinese peninsula and the Malay archipelago. Peninsular Malaysia (West Malaysia) is located in mainland Southeast Asia, whereas Malaysian Borneo (East Malaysia) forms part of the Malay archipelago.

Located in the state of Johor, Tanjung Piai is a cape of geographical significance. It is the southernmost point of the Eurasia mainland.
7. Singapore

The Republic of Singapore is an island nation located in the Malay archipelago. It is the smallest Southeast Asian country.

The Johor-Singapore Causeway links Singapore to the Malaysian state of Johor.
8. Indonesia

The Republic of Indonesia is an archipelago nation that consists of more than 17,000 islands. It is also the world's largest archipelagic nation. The country borders East Timor, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea.

Indonesia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, which means that the nation is prone to frequent volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
9. Brunei

Brunei Darussalam, or simply Brunei, is a sultanate located in the Malay archipelago. The nation is located on the island of Borneo. Brunei is surrounded by Sarawak, which is Malaysia's largest state.

Located in the district of Temburong, the Ulu Temburong National Park is a popular tourist destination. The park is home to various endemic flora and fauna.
10. Philippines

The Republic of the Philippines is an archipelago nation located in maritime Southeast Asia. The nation consists of more than 7000 islands.

The archipelago is divided into three main island groups - Luzon, Mindanao, and the Visayas.
11. East Timor

The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, also known as East Timor, occupies the eastern part of the island of Timor. The western part of Timor, on the other hand, is occupied by Indonesia.

East Timor is the only Southeast Asian country that is completed located in the Southern Hemisphere.
