Pakistan became independent from Britain, one day before India became independent from Britain, on August 15, 1947. The idea of a separate state of Pakistan was established in 1940 by the All Indian Muslim League.
2. What was the first capital in Pakistan, before Islamabad?

Answer: Karachi

Islamabad was a newly planned city specifically designed just to be the capital of Pakistan after Karachi in the 1960s. It became the official capital in 1967. Islamabad means 'place of Islam'.
3. Which of these rivers is NOT a major river of Punjab?

Answer: Kabul

Punjab means "five rivers" in Punjabi and the major rivers are the Indus, Ravi, Sutlej, Chenab, and Jhelum Rivers. Kabul River is a river in North West Frontier Province that goes through Peshawar and Kabul, Afghanistan.
4. What is Pakistan's largest airline?

Answer: PIA

Pakistan International Airlines is the major and oldest airline that travels to many destinations, international and domestic. Its slogan is 'Come Fly With Us'.
5. What country does Pakistan NOT border?

Answer: Tajikistan

India, Afghanistan, Iran, and, China all have borders with Pakistan. Tajikistan is not very far from Pakistan though. It borders Afghanistan.
6. Which is not a major mountain range in Pakistan?

Answer: Tien Shan

The Tien Shan mountains are western Chinese mountains, north of Pakistan. Himalayas are in northeast Pakistan, Karakorum are in north-central Pakistan, and Hindu Kush are in northwest Pakistan.
7. Which mountain range is K2 peak in?

Answer: Karakorum

K2 is the world's second highest peak. It is also the hardest to climb. K2 is near the edge of the Pakistan and Chinese border and is also called Mount Godwin-Austen. (The Great Pakistani Mountains is fictional.)

Answer: Lahore

Minar-e- is a very famous monument in Pakistan symbolizing freedom and unity for Pakistan and is a national monument in Pakistan. Karachi also has a famous monument, Quad-e-Azam's Mausoleum.
9. Which person has never been a president of Pakistan?

Answer: Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto was a woman prime minister of Pakistan which was rare. Her father was another leader who was executed for corruption. Benazir was assassinated on December 27, 2007 in Rawalpind. Pervez Musharaf (Pakistan Muslim League) was Prime Minister from 12 October 1999 - 21 November 2002.

He was also appointed President in 2001. Zia-ul-Haq was president from 16 September 1978 - 17 August 1988. Ayub Khan was president from 27 October 1958 - 25 March 1969.
10. Which country is Pakistan not allied to?

Answer: India

Pakistan and India have had many wars over Kashmir and have been enemies since 1947. All the other countries, Pakistan has had strong relations with for many years.
