It's a less populated city than Antwerp and you can enjoy a fine Belgian brew while sitting on an esplanade next to the Meuse River.

Answer: False

The capital of Lapland is Rovaniemi. Looking at a map you will see that Helsinki is located on the southern shore facing the Gulf of Finland. Nicknamed affectionately "Stadi" by the locals, the Finnish capital held the 1952 Olympic Games and is integral part of the region of Uusimaa.

The Yukon territory has Whitehorse as its capital. Here you can visit the highest point in Canada, Mount Logan (5,956 m), which is located in the St. Elias Mountains range. Only Denali (Mount McKinley) in Alaska, is higher in the continent of North America.

Although French is one of Canada's national languages roughly only 4% of the population in Yukon consider it their first language so it is unlikely that you will get too much practice.

Even though the cities on the coast of the Adriatic Sea are tempting, you go down to the southern half of the country, namely to Cape Ostri where you will find Zagreb in a nearby location.

Answer: Nicosia

The Cypriot capital of Nicosia is located in the central north region of the island. All of the other places are located on the southwestern part. Some famous Nicosians include Constantinos Charalambidis, football player for APOEL and the Cypriot national team, and the late Mick Karn, bassist for art rock/new wave band "Japan" during the period lasting from 1974 to 1982.

Answer: Northern

Most important Egyptian cities are indeed located in the northern half of the country, just like Cairo. Some are on the Mediterranean shore, such as Alexandria and Port Said while some others are to be found near the Nile River, like Giza. The only major city that you can find down south is Luxor.
14. Yet another maritime voyage and this time you are leaving Egypt for Morocco. Once again you'll settle for a capital, Rabat in this case. Out of all of the northern African nations with a Mediterranean shoreline Morocco is the only one whose capital is located down in the southern half of the country.

Answer: False

Obviously Morocco couldn't be an exception either, considering its southern half is nearly all desert. Rabat is an important port but as opposed to Algiers or Tunis, it finds itself located off the Atlantic Ocean. Tangiers and Casablanca are two other Moroccan ports of importance and their coasts also lie off the Atlantic.
15. Down to the other end of Africa and you decide to fly to Angola. The capital of this nation is also located up on the northern half of its territory but what's its name?

Answer: Luanda

Luanda is one of fastest growing and wealthier capitals of contemporary Africa. Still some areas of the country aren't the safest to travel with, such as is the case with the exclave of Cabinda.
16. You notice that one continent's still missing on your list so you take a rather long flight down under to Australia. Considering you're staying over in Sydney, which of these Australian cities would you have to travel farthest north to?

Answer: Darwin

Easily it is Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory. Each other city is located in a different state/territory with Adelaide belonging to South Australia, Brisbane to Queensland and Perth to Western Australia. Although Brisbane is north of Sydney it is only approximately 900 kms compared to Darwin which is close to 4000 km. Need something to do while in Darwin? Why not visit the well renowned Mindil Beach and go for a swim.
17. One of the keywords for this quiz is the word "up" so what could be more appropriate than a question about Upper Volta. What is the current name of Upper Volta?

Answer: Burkina Faso

The Republic of Upper Volta existed from 1958 to 1984. It was a self-governing colony within the French ultramarine territories. Following a military coup d'état on the 4th of August 1983, it changed its name to Burkina Faso. The capital Ouagadougou, has remained unchanged.
18. You'll now be heading to South America, to Brazil more precisely where Portuguese is the official language. You are however warned that their variant of Portuguese differs a bit from the main one. You settle for the capital of Brasília anyway. Within the borders of Brazil you will find that the capital is located in which half of the country?

Answer: Southern

Brazil's northern border touches 5 degrees N and its southern border reaches to 34 degrees S. Seeing as Brasilia has a latitude of 15.46 S that puts it in the southern part of the country. Brasília was only founded in 1960 with the intention of becoming the new capital of the country in the Federal District.

The Central Bank of Brazil can be found in this city so you might want to go change your current currency to reais once you get over there.
19. The tour of Oceania wasn't complete without a visit to New Zealand. So you head to the airport and get yourself aboard a long flight. You'll be staying on the northern island so which of these cities is the odd one out?

20. Our last destination is Japan. You didn't even attempt to get an English-Japanese dictionary so let's hope you don't end up "Lost in Translation", if you catch my drift. You've chosen to visit Sapporo which is located on Hokkaido. This island is the farthest north of the Japanese islands.

Answer: True

Sapporo is perhaps best known for having hosted the 1972 Winter Olympics, the first ever to be held in Asia. It is the fourth-largest city in Japan in terms of population, and gastronomically speaking you could try the local delicacy "miso ramen". The Sapporo ramen is widely known among other parts of Japan so you can't go wrong with this.
