Question 1 of 10
1. After a very long flight time from the U.S. to Iraq, you have been called to the military headquarters in Iraq to meet with your superior. You've barely had time to rest and prepare yourself, but your superior tells you, "There is some seriously heavy fighting happening throughout Iskandariya. We need you take take a squad through the city and take over an enemy controlled air base to give us a stronger hold in the area. Head out within the next 30 minutes." As a soldier in the American Army, what is your response? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. You set off and head to the armory to pick your weapons. As you look through them, you know you are looking for a gun that is exceptional for close to medium range combat and reasonable for long range as well, but one that is not too big, as the city is a crowded area. Which of these weapons would be the best choice? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. You have your weapon. Your next twenty minutes is compiled of grabbing body armor, a variety of grenades, extra magazines and rounds, and the basic infantry supplies. The rest of your time is spent studying a map to plan out your route. Luckily, you are very close in the city of Al Najaf. In which direction and over what river will you have to cross in order to reach your target city? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Your squad is in the city and are preparing an assault. You have a squad of five; commander (you), two infantry units (one with an M16A4, the other with a G36c), a heavy machine unit (with an M246 SAW, C4, and an RPG), and a medium-long range sniper (with a suppressed M21 sniper rifle). The road you start from is pretty linear, straight for about half a mile. You know that the buildings beyond are littered with shooters and scouts. What is your most logical course of action? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. You've made it down the long road, team intact. However, you run into a split in the road. To the left, a flat road leads directly to the airbase with a heavily fortified door with nearby guard towers. To the right, a hill that gives a reasonably useful overview of the area. In this situation, who should go where? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. You've made your way into the base, but unfortunately, you were immediately spotted. Three guns are instantly trained on your squad. You take as quick a look around as you can at them. Your trained eyes pick up that two of them have standard AK-47s. The other one, however, looked like an AK-47, but definitely was not. It was much longer, possibly an import. What gun was it? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. You know your next decision could mean the life of you and your squad. You tell from the enemies' expressions that they don't intend to let you live. "Guess we should've knocked," you think slyly to yourself. All is quiet, intensity is at breaking point. The next sound is your voice, screaming "---". Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. You've made your call and escaped, but two of your soldiers have suffered wounds. Luckily, they aren't life threatening. Now that you're spread through more of the base, you have more advantage points. Your squad informs you that the airport base is scarcely populated, as most of the soldiers are out in the city fighting. A total of 18 soldiers remain. Your sniper says he can take down up to 6 without others knowing of their death. Your heavy machine gunner can get an easy 3 with a well-placed RPG. That leaves how many enemies for each individual assault soldier (including you) to account for, averaged for each of you? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Your squad has now eradicated all but two of the enemy soldiers. They aren't visible at the moment, so your heavy machine gunner takes a quick moment to reload under the watch of his team. Suddenly, you see both enemies. One is rushing toward your still-reloading heavy machine gunner. He is under fire by one of your soldiers, but is closing fast. The second is sneaking up behind the firing friendly for an easy kill. The smart idea is to shoot the rushing soldier to protect the heavy machine gunner.

Question 10 of 10
10. The base is yours. The airstrip contains several operational aircraft, all now property of the U.S. army. What's your next call? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: "Yes, sir!"

Your response to any (lawful) command from your superior is always "yes." Complaining and snobbiness will get you nowhere in the army of the U.S.
2. You set off and head to the armory to pick your weapons. As you look through them, you know you are looking for a gun that is exceptional for close to medium range combat and reasonable for long range as well, but one that is not too big, as the city is a crowded area. Which of these weapons would be the best choice?

Answer: M4A1

M4A1 - Assault rifle; fully automatic, 33 inches, 5.56x45mm NATO rounds, 30 round magazine
M60E4 - Light machine gun; fully automatic, 42 inches, 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, 100 round belt
R700 - Bolt-action sniper rifle; bolt-action, 41.5 inches, .300 caliber, up to 4 round internal magazine
M1014 - Semi-automatic shotgun; semi-automatic, 34.9 inches, 12 gauge rounds, holds varying amounts of shells

The M4A1 is definitely the weapon of choice because it can do both short and medium range effectively and somewhat long range as well. The M60E4 is much too big and heavy to lug through the city and is not very effective in close quarters. The R700 is good mainly for long range and is virtually useless for close quarters, especially due to the fact that it is bolt-action. The M1014, though semi-automatic, is a shotgun nonetheless, and has no use in long range and is only mildly effective in medium.

Answer: East, Euphrates

This was a big geographical question. I'm sure most people had a 25% chance on that on, so kudos to whoever didn't use a map, though I don't blame you if you did. Iskandariya is directly, more or less, south of Al Najaf, around 60 miles away from you. Cross the river and continue.

Answer: Have your sniper take down all long range visible targets and have others take out surprise attackers as you move forward.

No, you are not superman, and this is not Call of Duty 4 (as much as the description may seem). Going forward alone with no set plan of attack is suicide, in a manner. Throwing grenades is too dangerous with wild shrapnel flying about and relying on an undeterminable factor to aid you.

Heavy machine fire through buildings may cause civilian injuries and possibly casualties, and it also wastes valuable munitions. Snipers take out obvious immediate threats before they are in range to attack and your fast reacting team will take out the hidden threats that pop out.
5. You've made it down the long road, team intact. However, you run into a split in the road. To the left, a flat road leads directly to the airbase with a heavily fortified door with nearby guard towers. To the right, a hill that gives a reasonably useful overview of the area. In this situation, who should go where?

Answer: Sniper right, sniping door guards to let the rest get close enough to blow the door open on the left road.

First of all, rushing the front door is like sending five orcs to take on the entire army at the Two Towers. It's dumb and it just doen't make sense. The fight will be over in no time and little progress will be made. Sneaking around the outside is a risky, unreliable method and a poor call by the squad leader. RPGs have unpredictable accuracy and does't promise to have enough force to create a breach. Sniping the guards makes reaching the gate a whole lot easier and being right at it lets you blow up the door with the C4 or, if it's not powerful enough, blow up part of the surrounding wall.

Answer: SVD Sniper Rifle

The C9 and M2 are both Canadian-made guns and bear no resemblance to an AK-47. The FAMAS is a modern assault rifle and again has no relation to the AK. The SVD is alike in model. A 7.62mm semi-automatic sniper rifle, it has wooden parts in the same places as the AK-47, and to some, may seem to be just an elongated AK-47.
7. You know your next decision could mean the life of you and your squad. You tell from the enemies' expressions that they don't intend to let you live. "Guess we should've knocked," you think slyly to yourself. All is quiet, intensity is at breaking point. The next sound is your voice, screaming "---".

Answer: "Scatter!"

"Duck!" definitely doesn't work. That's more of an invitation, like "Hey, shoot us in our behinds!" "Dang!" is just a lazy surrender. "Look over there!" is almost self-explanatory. That WON'T distract them, they're smarter than that. "Scatter!" is your only chance.

A fortunate thing about the AK-47 is that they exchange accuracy for a lower rate of clogging. They can spray, but you can still have a slight chance of escaping.

Answer: 3

Averaged between the three assault soldiers, three are left for each of you out of the remaining nine. This doesn't mean each of you will get this many, but you might if you each get your fair share.

Answer: False

That enemy is already under fire, and can be handled by the already firing soldier and the aware machine gunner, because every soldier's best friend is his sidearm. The firing soldier, however, is not aware of his impending death. The best thing is to take care of the sneaking soldier and let the other enemy be subdued by the other two soldiers.
10. The base is yours. The airstrip contains several operational aircraft, all now property of the U.S. army. What's your next call?

Answer: Inform your superiors, call in for reinforcements, and hold off the enemy as you wait.

Obviously, you call in for backup, no question. Bombing runs would most likely get you pulled from the army and possibly arrested for unauthorized attacks. The objective was to take the base, not to destroy, so obliterating it is not an option. And pretending to be the ruler of the city is just ridiculous. You're an American soldier, darn it! Backup arrives, medals awarded, and a job is magnificently done. Good job, soldier.
