Susanna (Wesley's mother) is buried at Bunhill Fields and he is buried at Wesley Chapel (opposite Bunhill Fields).

Clitherow refused to enter a plea in order to avoid a trial and therefore save her children from potential torture.

She was canonised by Pope Paul VI in 1970.

Bede (672-735) grew up in a Benedictine monastery in Jarrow. As well as a priest he was a teacher, scholar and writer.

"The Ecclesiastical History of the English People" provides an overview of English history all the way back to Caesar's invasion. According to tradition, King Alfred the Great thought the work so important that he had it translated from Latin into Anglo-Saxon.

Bede is often referred to as the "Father of English History".

Answer: William Tyndale

Although the King James (or Authorised) version of the Bible is the best known and was written by committee, much of its New Testament is taken from Tyndale's work.

Answer: Edward VI

Thomas Cranmer was Archbishop of Canterbury under Henry VIII and Edward VI. Cranmer compiled the first two versions of the "Book of Common Prayer", although how much of it he actually wrote is not certain. Its use was imposed on churches in 1549.
9. When were women were first ordained as deacons in the Church of England?

Answer: 1987

The ordination of women as priests commenced in 1994 amid conisderable controversy. Discussions to allow women to be ordained as bishops continues.
10. Which is the second highest ranking bishop in the Church of England?

Answer: Archbishop of York

There are only two provinces in the Church of England: Canterbury (South of England) and York (North of England). A province is subdivided into dioceses.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is referred to as Primate of All England and Metropolitan whereas Archbishop of York is referred to as Primate of England. (This is thought due to historic reasons when much of Northern England were controlled by the Danes).
