Answer: France

That area was conquered by the Visigoths in 418 C.E. However in 507 C.E. the Franks under Clovis I conquered the Visigothic kingdom north of the Pyrenees.
2. Although the Western Roman Empire died, the Eastern Roman Empire was still very much intact. What would this empire later be called?

Answer: Byzantine Empire

The Byzantine empire was what it was called in Greek, the dominant language in the empire. Under the rule of Justinian I, the Byzantines were able to reconquer Italy, and North Africa. They wouldn't have it for long though.

Answer: Caliph

Abu Bakr (or Abu Barkr) was known as the first caliph, while his successor Umar I was known as the second caliph, and he managed to take Egypt from the Byzantines.

What is true is that all these areas except France and Spain were under Arab control at that time. In 711 the Arabs crossed the Straits of Gibraltar, conquered most of the Iberian Peninsula and in 720 reached the Pyrenees. They advanced deep into France before being turned back on the Loire in 732. The speed of their advance was spectacular.

By about 750 C.E., the Lombards had taken over most of Italy. in 755 they besieged Rome, which was relieved by the Frankish king, Pepin. His successor, Charlemagne, smashed the Lombaric kingdom definitively in 774.

The Khazars were staunch allies of the Byzantines.They managed to hold out against the Arabs and stopped them from invading what is now southern Russia and the Ukraine. Around 800, under pressure from rival groups of missionaries to convert to Christianity or Islam, the Khazars took the unusual step of converting to Judaism.
9. The Bulgarian Empire would eventually go on to conquer the Byzantine Empire, and form the Ottoman Empire.

Answer: False

Byzantium conquered Bulgaria in 1014-18 and ruled the country till 1185, when the Bulgarians succeeded in gaining independence. However, two centuries later, in 1393-96, the Ottomans conquered Bulgaria.
