1. Probably the best known sword of legend, this weapon was used by King Arthur himself.

Answer: Excalibur

There are a number of legends about how Arthur acquired this sword. The two most common are that the sword was pulled from a stone, or was given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake. In Welsh legend, the sword is also known as Caledfwlch.

When Beowulf descended to the bottom of the lake to fight Grendel's mother, the sword lost all its power. He used a different sword to fight Grendel's mother at the bottom of the lake, but it isn't named.
