John Connolly's 2006 "The Book of Lost Things" dabbled in several fairytales, twisting them into his story of a grieving son. However, the story of "Rumplestiltskin" weaved itself heavily into the book with the scary tale of the crooked man who follows young David around trying to get the name of his baby brother so the crooked man can survive longer.

"East", based on the poem "East of the Sun, West of the Moon", told the story of one girl's fight to save her family from poverty and possibly death. To ward off a curse on her family put there by a polar bear, Rose returned with the polar bear to his home.

As time went by, Rose began to suspect of a curse put on the polar bear and wondered at night who shared her bed without touching her. Slowly, Rose learned to love the polar bear until a tragic mistake sent her back to her family and away from her one true love. Published in 2005, "East" was a beautiful story of love and devotion told around the backdrop of Norway.
5. "Tiger Lily" by Jodi Anderson

Answer: Peter Pan

Jodi Anderson wrote her 2013 book from Tinker Bell's point of view. "Tiger Lily" told the story of Peter Pan, Tiger Lily, and Tink's friendship with both of them in this story that details Tiger Lily's life through Tinker Bell's eyes.
6. "The Wrath & The Dawn" by Renee Ahdieh

For her first novel, Renee Ahdieh wove a tale of romance, mystery and death as she told the story of Shahrzad and Khalid, a woman and man brought together only so Shahrzad can be sacrificed the morning after her wedding. To protect her husband, Katerina returned with Ivan to his home in the twentieth century to learn of ways to defeat the curse placed upon her homeland. "Enchantment" was published in 1999.

Cinder was 32.68% cyborg. She lived with her guardian and her guardian's two daughters. When Cinder met the new emperor, her life spiraled out of control drawing her into the biggest secret of all: where did Cinder come from and why is she part cyborg? "Cinder" was the first book in the series of "Lunar Chronicles" published in 2012.

Kyle Kingsbury was a selfish, spoiled, cruel brat. After playing a practical joke on a young woman named Kendra, she cursed him with the qualities of a beast. He could break the spell in two years if he sincerely fell in love with a girl who loved him back. Enter Lindy Owens. Lindy was sold to Kyle to keep his silence about her father's drug habit. Lindy and Kyle slowly fell in love and days before he was to die of the curse, Lindy and Kyle kissed, breaking Kendra's beastly curse on Kyle. "Beastly" was published in 2007 and made into a movie in 2011.
10. "Splintered" by A.G. Howard

Answer: Alice in Wonderland

A.G. Howard spun a wild tale of the great-great-great granddaughter of Alice Liddell, the inspiration for Alice in "Alice in Wonderland". With Alyssa's mother deteriorating in an asylum, Alyssa's only choice is to travel to Wonderland and find a way to help her mother and stave off the voices in her head that will soon lead her to the same fate as her mother.

This 2013 book by Howard was as fantastical in it's imagery and words as "Alice in Wonderland".
