Ray is the unlikely singer who sings the opening song with Clint. Ray is a legendary innovative musician whose career includes jazz, blues and country chart success. The year before "Any Which Way You Can" was filmed his version of "Georgia On My Mind" was proclaimed the state song of Georgia with Charles performing it on the floor of the state legislature. Sondra Locke returns as Clint's girlfriend, Lyn Halsey Taylor, and sings "One Too Many Women in Your Life" in two bar scenes. Jim Stafford is known for the hit song "Spiders and Snakes".

He also wrote and sings a song during another bar scene the film titled "Cow Patti". John Durrill co-wrote "Beers to You" with Steve Dorff. He also wrote "One Too Many Women in Your Life" with Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers.

The retired Mid-west traveling couple, Luthor and Loretta, are played by real life couple Anne and Logan Ramsey. The characters all start acting out to impress their respective mates in the motel rooms, resulting in Luthor hurting his back.

The gangsters kidnap Sondra Locke to ensure Clint will honor his agreement to fight.

The finale tears up the town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. All the participants and gamblers converge on the town causing quite a ruckus. There are several wide shots of the locale, including the well-known piles of antlers. Clint and Smith agree not to fight to make the gangsters rich, but begin a fight to see who would actually win.

The fight spills from a barn into the street, tearing up restaurants and other businesses. Clint wins by a knockout despite having his right arm broken when Smith kicks it against a stove. Denver is the scene for the last fight in "Every Which Way But Loose" with Denver "Tank" Murdock. Bakersfield is the locale for Clint's home and hangouts in both movies.
