Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what container is Lady when we first meet her?

Answer: A gift-wrapped box

The film starts at Christmas. Jim gives his wife Darling a present in a stripy gift-wrapped box, with a bow on top. Darling thinks it's a hat trimmed with ribbons, but it turns out to be a cocker spaniel puppy (note: do not try this at home). Darling says, "What a perfectly beautiful little lady," and thus, Lady gets her name.
2. Lady makes a pair of friends, a Scottish terrier and the bloodhound. What are the names of these dogs?

Answer: Jock and Trusty

Jock is the Scottish terrier and Trusty is the bloodhound. Trusty's owners live in a big fancy house. Lady is delighted to show them both her snazzy new blue collar. Trusty, according to Jock, has no sense of smell, a real tragedy for a bloodhound (since they're scenthounds and they were bred to sniff things out), and is sleep-chasing a caterpillar when Jock and Lady come to visit.
3. One day, Lady is upset because she feels Jim and Darling are acting strangely. What is the cause of the change in Jim and Darling's behaviour?

Answer: Darling is pregnant

Lady runs to greet Jim as usual, but he barely acknowledges her. She overhears Jim saying, "I just can't help worrying. After all, in your condition, alone here all day, and walking that dog..." Lady is upset to hear herself referred to as 'that dog', as Jim has never called her that before.

She also can't understand why Darling would rather knit than walk her. Jock explains to her that Darling is pregnant. At this point, Tramp wanders into Lady's garden and warns Lady that dogs always have to make room in humans' hearts for babies.
4. Who looks after Lady and the baby while Jim and Darling are away?

Answer: Jim's aunt

Jim's Aunt Sarah looks after Lady and the baby. Unfortunately for Lady, Aunt Sarah doesn't like her and chases her out of the baby's room, thinking Lady will frighten him. She also brings two unwelcome visitors with her: her nasty Siamese cats, Si and Am, who proceed to trash the house.
5. Why are Si and Am interested in the baby?

Answer: There might be milk where the baby is

Si and Am hear the baby crying and go upstairs in the hope of finding milk. As the song 'We Are Siamese' says, "Do you hear what I hear? A baby cry / Where we finding baby, there's milk nearby / If we look in baby buggy, there could be / Plenty milk for you / And also some for me." Lady is furious and barks and growls at them, and chases them away.

Unfortunately, when Aunt Sarah comes home and finds the house in a mess, she blames Lady. The Siamese cats pretend Lady attacked them, and Aunt Sarah goes out and buys a muzzle for her. Lady freaks out when the shop assistant puts the muzzle on her, and runs away.
6. Which animal in the zoo frees Lady from the muzzle?

Answer: The beaver

Tramp rescues Lady from a pack of aggressive dogs, and suggests asking the animals in the zoo to help her get rid of the muzzle. He distracts a policeman and a random man by pretending to be the random man's dog, and he and Lady sneak into the zoo while the humans are arguing.

At first, the beaver is too busy chewing a sycamore tree to help, but Tramp manages to convince him to help Lady by claiming her muzzle and leash combo is a 'log puller'. The beaver chews through a strap and gets the muzzle off Lady. To the beaver's delight, the muzzle actually works as a log puller.
7. One of the most famous scenes in the movie is the scene where Lady and Tramp eat spaghetti and meatballs at Tony's Italian restaurant. By what name do Tony and Joe, the chef, know Tramp?

Answer: Butch

Tony and Joe address Tramp as 'Butch'. Tramp, being a stray, is not attached to any family, but he has his favourites; on Mondays, he visits a German family, who call him Fritzie, and on Tuesdays, he visits an Irish family, who call him Mikey (and he does the accents to match). Normally Joe gives Tramp bones, but on seeing that 'Butch' has a new girlfriend, Tony insists that the two dogs be given something a little more special, and thus we have the spaghetti scene.
8. What euphemism do the pound dogs use for a fellow inmate being killed?

Answer: Taking the long walk

Lady is carted off to the pound while she and Tramp are escaping from an angry farmer, and she is locked up with two of Tramp's friends, Peg the Pekingese and Bull the bulldog, as well as a borzoi called Boris, a dachshund called Dachsie, a chihuahua called Pedro, and a mongrel called Toughy. Nutsy, another dog, is being led out by one of the workers at the pound and Toughy says he is 'being taken for the long walk'. It doesn't take long for Lady to figure out what that means.

Incidentally, Peg's song, 'He's a Tramp', is my favourite song in the movie. It is sung by Peggy Lee, who also voices Darling, and both Siamese cats.
9. Why does Tramp go into the house during the storm?

Answer: A rat has entered the baby's room

Lady is chained up in her kennel and is in a bad mood with Tramp due to his womanising ways, but forgets her anger when she sees the rat from earlier on in the film sneaking into the baby's room. As she's chained up, she can't chase it, and when she barks at it, Aunt Sarah shouts at her to be quiet. Tramp hears Lady barking and when she explains about the rat, he sneaks into the house through the flap. He chases the rat and attacks it, knocking over the baby's cot. Aunt Sarah is woken up by the baby's cries, locks Tramp in a cupboard and calls the pound.

Originally, the rat was going to be called Herman and have speaking lines, but the end version had him be a non-speaking, nameless baddie instead.
10. True or false: Trusty dies at the end of the movie.

Answer: False

The dog catcher takes Tramp away, while Lady leads Aunt Sarah, Jim and Darling to the baby's room and shows them the rat. Jock and Trusty, who initially think that Tramp has attacked the baby, realise that Tramp was trying to protect the baby and run after the wagon. The wagon crashes after Jock and Trusty run under the hooves of the horses. Lady and Tramp are reunited, but their joy is short-lived when they see Trusty lying on the ground under a wheel and Jock howling over him. However, Trusty survives. Meanwhile, Darling and Jim adopt Tramp, and he and Lady have puppies.

Initially, Trusty was going to be killed off, but the writers decided that it would be too soon to have another major character death after 'Bambi', since many young fans were very upset by the death of Bambi's mother.
