Shaw figured that since prisons are made of iron bars, it must have meant the next clue was in a prison. They later figured that "iron pen" meant a contract. The Declaration of Independence is what the rest of the clue words engraved on the pipe led them to.

Answer: The smuggler's hold.

A smuggler's hold is a cargo trunk that is hidden in the bottom of certain ships to hide items being smuggled into foreign countries from the authorities. After escaping, they then had to walk several miles through the snow to find transportation back home.

3. What was the name of the woman Ben and Riley had a meeting with to let her know Ian was planning on stealing the Declaration?

Answer: Abigail Chase

Dr. Abigail Chase worked as a curator at the National Archives. Abigail did not believe that the Declaration could be stolen since it was so securely protected. When Ben and Riley told her about the clues on the pipe and she asked to see it, they told her they lost it.

She then asked sarcastically, "Did Bigfoot take it?" She later got kidnapped by Ian and helped Ben and Riley find the treasure.

Ben's father used the single lantern that was hanging in the room as a fake clue and told Ian that it meant the clue was at The Old North Church ("One if by land, two if by sea"). Ian left them underground anyway, which was exactly what Ben wanted to happen since he knew where the real treasure was.
