Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Thrill me, detective." This is the last line spoken by Chris, one of the main characters of which '80s classic?

Answer: Night of the Creeps

"Night of the Creeps" is a typically 'fun' '80s horror flick about aliens that crash-land on our planet sometime in the '50s. They unleash slugs that turn humans into zombies upon slithering into their mouths. Fast-forward to pledge week of 1986, and we have the setting of our movie.

This is the last thing the kid from "European Vacation" (Chris, played by Jason Lively) says before the detective (played by the immortal Tom Atkins) blows up the house (along with himself), killing all the slugs. Well, maybe not all of them...
2. "What are you gonna do with those pies, boys?", the security guard asks a group of possible trouble-makers. What cinematic masterpiece is this line from?

Answer: Killer Klowns From Outer Space

This priceless gem is about some killer klowns from outer space (which you would never guess from the title). They come to earth to turn everyone into cotton candy and then have themselves a snack. Seriously. They eventually wind up at an amusement park (if you were a klown, where would you go?), and the security guard there asks this question of the klowns.

He couldn't have been too thrilled with the answer - they killed him.
3. Which '80s gem has one of the main characters saying to his friend "You're so cool, Brewster!"?

Answer: Fright Night

One of my favorites, "Fright Night" is about a kid who discovers his new neighbor is a vampire. Evil(Brewster's friend, at least before he goes all undead on him) says this to Charlie after Charlie gets some food shoved in his face by his girlfriend. Food shoved in his face, mocked by his friend, his neighbor's a vampire - these are not the best of times for Charlie Brewster.

The real question here - how exactly did Marcy Darcy land this role (she was the girlfriend)?
4. "I'm the biggest hypocrite of them all - I used preservatives!" These are the dying words of the star of which of these tasteful flicks?

Answer: Motel Hell

It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters! In "Motel Hell", we find Farmer Vincent (the one and only Rory Calhoun) running a motel and selling his famous smoked meats(2+2=they're made from humans planted in the ground). These are the last words of Farmer Vincent, after he loses a chainsaw fight with his brother. I hope you didn't actually pick "Cannibal Women" - I mean, come on!
5. "Come to sweet Henrietta!", says the ugly ghoul approaching our hero in this sequel. So which one of these movies does Henrietta turn up in?

Answer: Evil Dead 2

"Evil Dead 2" starts out almost like a remake of the first film, but eventually changes course. This film finds our hero, Ash, once again at the remote cabin in the woods, this time with just his gal(the first flick had another couple along for the ride).

He winds up losing his girlfriend to the evil spirits from the surrounding woods (he also has to replace one of his hands with a chainsaw because of them). Some other people show up and think he's crazy (come on - it's just Bruce Campbell). He tries to convince them of the evil spirits, but they don't buy it and lock him in the cellar.

When Ash gets locked in the cellar, Henrietta's there to greet him.
6. "Fernando! Your mother ate my dog!" This line, spoken by Fernando's would-be girlfriend, comes from which of these gory classics?

Answer: Dead Alive

Ever since she was bitten by that weird rat-monkey looking creature at the zoo, Fernando's mom just isn't herself anymore - she has never had such a big appetite! In "Dead Alive", said rat-monkey-thing causes a pretty bad zombie outbreak sort of situation, resulting in one of the goriest (and funniest) horror flicks I've ever seen. By the way, Peter Jackson was behind this classic.
7. "I can feel myself rotting!" says what's left of a zombie to its captors. In which of these "Dead" movies do we hear this line?

Answer: The Return of the Living Dead

"Return" finds a group of people fighting off zombies which turn up thanks to the opening of a mysterious military cannister (not sure what was in it, but it couldn't have been good). The upper-half of a zombie they have strapped to a table says this (the rotting) is the reason zombies eat brains - apparently the rotting isn't as bothersome during snack time.
8. "If all the corpses around here were to stand up all at once, we'd have one hell of a population problem." An old man says this to his grandson in one of these creepy classics. Do you know which one?

Answer: The Lost Boys

Mom moves the kids from good old Phoenix to the murder capital of the world - Santa Carla! The town has earned that title because of all the vampires hanging around there. In my opinion, "The Lost Boys" is easily one of the coolest movies ever made. By the way, Grandpa says this when Sam asks if they've just moved to the murder capital of the world. I know, I know - it isn't really creepy.
9. "Hey jerk! Speed kills!", yells a young woman to the driver of a car passing by. The driver stops for a moment, then drives away. Any idea which of these scare-fests features this line?

Answer: Halloween

In my humble opinion, "Halloween" is the best (or at the very least, most well-made) horror movie of all time. There's no excuse for anyone to not know what this flick is about: Michael Myers kills his big sister when he's 6, gets locked up for years, escapes when he's 21 and returns "home" to kill some more people.

It's a lot better than I just made it sound, but again, you should already know this. Laurie Strode (Jaime Lee Curtis) is Mike's sister, so naturally he has to kill her (and her friends Annie and Linda too - why not?). Early on, Annie yells this at the driver of a passing car thinking it's Devon Graham (a classmate) behind the wheel.

It isn't.
10. In a heart to heart between mother and child - "He's dead because mommy killed him." - the mother tells her child this (and presents evidence) in an attempt to prove that there is nothing left for the terrified child to fear. In which of these fright-flicks is someone given this ultimately unsatisfactory explanation?

Answer: A Nightmare on Elm Street

Nancy's mom, along with all the other Elm Street parents, burn Freddy alive in his basement to make him pay for killing several neighborhood children. Unfortunately, he comes back in the kids' dreams and starts killing them off while they sleep. Yeah - thanks a lot, mom!
