Radio reports come from Calcutta Radio, speaking in Hindi, an unidentified broadcaster, speaking in French, the BBC, and of course, the U.S. It's reported to be headed towards the east coast of the United States, traveling at 4,000 miles per hour.
2. The flying saucer, as it were, lands in Washington, D.C. Klaatu, (Michael Rennie) says, "We have come to visit you in peace and with goodwill." Klaatu is bearing an object, which suddenly springs open. How do the soldiers react?

Answer: They shoot the device.

Klaatu, enigmatically reveals his device, which he claims to be a gift, for the president. However, as he apparently activates the device, a soldier panics, and shoots the device, wounding Klaatu, in the process.
3. Who or what is Gort?

Answer: Gort is a protective humanoid robot accompanying Klaatu to Earth.

Gort appears after Klaatu is attacked, and proceeds to destroy the weapons of Earth's militia, with ease. Gort, could probably destroy the entire contingent of the military's forces, but Klaatu, issues an order, "Gort, Deklato Prosko," which, apparently puts Gort at ease. By the way, Gort is portrayed by the seven foot, seven inch actor, Lock Martin.

Answer: Walter Reed

Klaatu is transported to Walter Reed Medical Center for treatment and evaluation. He is under heavy guard and under orders, not to leave the hospital. His medical condition mystifies the consulting physicians. One of the doctors quips, that, "I don't know whether to get drunk, or just give up the practice of medicine."

First, Bobby and Klaatu visit Arlington Cemetery. They discuss the travesty of war and cemeteries. Unfortunately, Klaatu doesn't have any money, but he does have a handful of diamonds. He offers two of them to Bobby for Bobby's two dollars. Bobby says, "Let's not say anything to mom about these. She doesn't like me to steal from people."

Later, they visit Professor Barnhardt's home, and Klaatu corrects some equations, on Professor Barnhard's blackboard, as an implicit invitation.

Klaatu has borrowed Bobby's flashlight. In accordance with his conversation with Dr. Barnhardt, Klaatu signals the robot with the flashlight, that he has borrowed from Bobby, in order to carry out a significant demonstration. The robot disables the guards around the ship, allowing Klaatu to enter.

Answer: He has neutralized all of the power of the world for thirty minutes.

In a significant, yet benign demonstration of power, Klaatu has disabled all power sources, all over the world. Exceptions, include anything that might endanger lives. Klaatu and Bobby's mother are stuck in an elevator together, at 12 p.m. Klaatu confesses his position to Bobby's mother, and pleads with her, to preserve his secret, so that he may attend an important meeting with the most prominent scientists of the day.
9. To whom, does Klaatu issue what may be arguably the most famous line of all time, in science fiction movies?

Answer: Helen Benson

Klaatu informs Helen, that in the event he is injured or wounded, she must issue the following command to the robot: "Klaatu Barada Nikto." Klaatu appears to be fatally wounded, which activates the robot's police action. Helen, although terribly frightened and confused, does, in fact, utter those words.

This prevents the robot from further destruction. The robot carries Helen aboard the ship, in order to witness the resurrection of Klaatu.

Klaatu is revived by his robot. His parting remarks indicate that his robot is to preserve the peace. "The result is that we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war ... free to pursue more profitable enterprises. We do not pretend to have achieved perfection ..but we do have a system and it works. I came here to give you the facts.

It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet. But if you to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder." Klaatu concludes, "Your choice is simple. Join us and live in peace. Or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We will be waiting for your answer.
