Answer: Tom Selleck

Deliciously funny, "In and Out" also stars Kevin Kline, Joan Cusack and Matt Dillon under Frank Oz's direction. It is based on Tom Hanks' acceptance speech for Best Actor for the movie "Philadelphia", where Hanks outed a former teacher as his inspiration. Hanks did acquire permission to do this though.

Born in Detroit Michigan on January 29, 1945, Tom Selleck made "People" magazine's 50 most beautiful people in the world list in 1998.
Selleck's has battled rumours about his own sexuality for years, so his portrayal of a gay character is a gutsy move.
2. This Tom plays a young lawyer, seduced by the generous offer made to him by the firm seeking to hire him. Once everything is signed, sealed and delivered, he realizes that the firm has a rather suspicious client base, and that no one ever seems to leave the firm and stay alive.

Answer: Tom Cruise

Based on a John Grisham novel, "The Firm" also stars Jeanne Tripplehorn, Gene Hackman and Ed Harris, under Sydney Pollack's direction.
Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was born on July 2, 1962, in Syracuse New York. He and his sisters were moved around a lot by their nomadic parents, and young Tom attended no fewer than 15 different schools across the States, and even into Canada.
3. This Tom plays Robert Langdon, an expert in religious symbolism, who is drawn into trying to solve a bizarre murder, filled with mysterious symbols. Together with Sophie, the victim's granddaughter, they follow the trail left by the symbols and unearth a secret society protecting the identity of the last living descendant of Christ.

Answer: Tom Hanks

Directed by Ron Howard, and based on the book by Dan Brown, "The DaVinci Code" also stars Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Jean Reno and Paul Bettany.
Born on July 9, 1956 in Concord , California, Thomas Jeffrey Hanks could not get a role in his college play. This inspired him to audition for the local community theatre, from which there was no looking back.
4. This Tom plays Lt. Kaffee, a young Navy lawyer who has perfected the art of the plea bargain. Assigned to defend two marines accused of killing a fellow soldier, Kaffee finds that he not only hates being railroaded, but also has a flair for winning in a courtroom.

Answer: Tom Cruise

Directed by Rob Reiner, "A Few Good Men" is a superb movie that also stars Demi Moore, Kevin Pollack, Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland and the inimitable Jack Nicholson.
Although strongly associated with the Church of Scientology, when growing up, Cruise aspired to be a Roman Catholic priest.
5. This Tom plays Sam Weber, the star of a cop show who has gathered with his old college friends for the funeral of a mutual friend who has committed suicide. The group spends the weekend together, ruminating on how their lives have not turned out the way they had planned.

Answer: Tom Berenger

Directed by Lawrence Kasdan, "The Big Chill" offers the talented ensemble cast of Glenn Close, Kevin Kline, William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, Mary Kay Place, JoBeth Williams and Meg Tilly.
Born in Chicago Illinois on May 31, 1949, Thomas Michael Moore (Berenger's birth name) earned a place on John Willis' 1977 list of "Promising New Actors".
6. This Tom plays Paul Edgecomb, a former prison guard who has supervised Death Row. Paul is cursed with amazing longevity after his experiences with John Coffey, a gentle giant with incredible healing abilities, who Paul had to put to death despite knowing that Coffey was innocent.

Answer: Tom Hanks

Frank Darabont directed this wonderful movie, based on the Stephen King novel, "The Green Mile". David Morse, Bonnie Hunt, Michael Clarke Duncan and James Cromwell also star.
Hanks received back to back Best Actor Oscars for his performances in "Philadelphia" and "Forrest Gump".
7. This Tom plays Peter Mitchell, a successful architect living a rather unusual life as he and his friends, Michael, Jack and Sylvia, all live together so that they can all be involved in the raising of Mary. This strange living arrangement works rather well until Mary's mother, Sylvia, decides that she would like to have a more conventional life.

Answer: Tom Selleck

Directed by Emile Ardolino, "Three Men and a Little Lady" is a funny, feel good movie that also stars Steve Guttenburg, Ted Danson and Nancy Travis.
Standing an impressive 6'4", Selleck went to the University of Southern California on a basketball scholarship. He was given an honourary doctorate by Pepperdine University.
8. This Tom plays the vampire Lestat, an immortal who has all the time in the world to play god with other people's lives. Lestat initiates Louis into the immortal life, a life that Louis comes to hate as the years go by, a fact that he shares with reporter Daniel Malloy.

Answer: Tom Cruise

Directed by Neil Jordan, "Interview with the Vampire" is based on the first book in "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice. It also stars Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst and Christian Slater.
Rumour has it that Anne Rice was more than a little bit upset when she first heard that Cruise had been cast in the role of Lestat, as she felt he could not carry it off convincingly. She apologized to him once she saw his performance though, and he was certainly much more than merely credible in the role.
9. This Tom plays Phil Blackwood, a crime novelist who provides a bogus alibi for a beautiful Romanian woman charged with murder. Convinced of her innocence, he gives her an alibi in the hopes of sparking his creative juices and getting him past his writer's block. Instead he finds himself falling madly in love with her, while wondering if perhaps, she might actually be guilty after all.

Answer: Tom Selleck

Directed by Bruce Beresford, this funny, quirky romance "Her Alibi" also stars Paulina Porizkova, William Daniels and James Farentino.
Selleck is probably best known for his longstanding television series, "Magnum P.I.". He was Spielberg's first choice for the character of Indiana Jones, but was unable to accept the role due to his commitments to "Magnum", leaving the role to be picked up by Harrison Ford.
10. This Tom plays Jimmy Dugan, a drunken baseball player brought out of retirement to manage one of the women's teams that were pulled together during WWII. Dugan is disgusted at the thought of coaching girls and isn't afraid to let them know it. Determined to play, the girls soldier on without his input, and before long he realizes just how good they really are.

Answer: Tom Hanks

Directed by Penny Marshall, "A League of Their Own" has to be one of my all time favourite movies. It also stars Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell and Lori Petty.
Hanks gained 30 pounds to play the out-of-shape Jimmy Dugan. This was not the last time Hanks made such a radical change for his movie roles. He lost 30 pounds for the role of Andrew Beckett in "Philadelphia" and then gained 50 pounds, for the beginning of the movie "Cast Away". He subsequently lost those 50 pounds for the latter part of the movie, after Chuck has spent a few years on the island, living on what he could catch.
