"The Last House On The Left" (1972) was director Wes Craven's 2nd movie. It was controversial for its time, because of the raw violence, and had the tag-line; "To avoid fainting, keep repeating 'It's only a movie, it's only a movie". Although a bit dated now it still is an uncompromising movie. It starred Martin Kove as a deputy, who went on to greater fame as Det. Victor Isbecki in the American TV series "Cagney And Lacey".

The 1982 version differs from the original in that it was set in the Antarctic. Also in that the creature was actually in a dog and, could take the form of anyone, or thing, it had killed. Generally referred to as "John Carpenters, The Thing", this was a classic horror remake that was made at a time when special effects were beginning to boom in movies.

It contained some stunning and memorable creature effects and, is generally considered a better movie than the original.
