Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'So you can send secret messages to your freaky little friends? No Sir!'

Answer: Vernon Dursley

Uncle Vernon complained about how noisy Hedwig was being. Harry argued that she was bored of being locked up, and needed to be allowed to fly around and get some exercise. Uncle Vernon, always suspicious of Harry's motives, immediately assumed that Harry only wanted her free so that he could send messages to his friends.
2. 'Good Lord are you really? Ron's told us all about you, of course. When did you get here?'

Answer: Arthur Weasley

Arthur Weasley had been out all night working on Ministry raids (9 that night) and eventually noticed Harry sitting at his kitchen table. He bluntly asked Harry who he was, and then responded with a mixture of almost disbelief and awe.
3. 'Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.'

Answer: Hermione Granger

After meeting Lucius Malfoy, Harry referred to Voldemort by name. Malfoy made some nasty remark about how Harry must be feeling pretty sure of himself to use the Dark Lord's name and Hermione spoke up in his defense. Malfoy then turned around and said something biting about her Muggle parents.
4. 'Let me see, red hair, vacant expression, tatty second-hand book...you must be a Weasley.'

Answer: Lucius Malfoy

It's difficult to tell whether Lucius was insulting Ron or Ginny Weasley, or possibly both. This was similar, but even nastier, than what Draco said in the first movie, the first time that he encountered Ron.
5. 'Well take a good look lads, this night might be the last you spend in this castle. Oh dear, we are in trouble.'

Answer: Argus Filch

After Ron and Harry missed the train (due to Dobby's sealing of the gateway), they took the car and flew it to Hogwarts, crashing it into the Whomping Willow. The first person they ran into as they dashed into the castle was Filch, who was delighted at the prospect of their expulsion.
6. 'No one asked your opinion, you filthy little mudblood.'

Answer: Draco Malfoy

When Draco announced that his father had bought the whole Slytherin Quidditch Team new brooms (Nimbus 2001's), he nastily reminded Ron that the Malfoys were considerably more wealthy than the Weasleys. Hermione remarked that at least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way on, but were chosen for skill. This struck rather close to the bone so Malfoy took a shot at Hermione.
7. 'Fame is a fickle friend Harry. Celebrity is as celebrity does. Remember that.'

Answer: Gilderoy Lockhart

Harry had to serve a detention with Lockhart for crashing into the Whomping Willow. Lockhart gave Harry this sage piece of advice, while they were answering Lockhart's fan mail, because he assumed that Harry sought fame and recognition the way that he did.
8. 'Enemies of the heir beware. You'll be next Mudbloods.'

Answer: Draco Malfoy

This remark, made when the writing about the Chamber being opened was found, was what convinced Harry, Ron and Hermione that Draco either was the heir, or had a pretty good idea of who was. This led to the experiment with the Polyjuice Potion.
9. 'Perhaps Potter and his friends were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.'

Answer: Professor Snape

Snape said this to Dumbledore after Harry, Hermione and Ron were found beside the petrified Mrs. Norris and the writing on the wall. His unexpected defense of them made them look at him in amazement. However he continued to say that the circumstances certainly were suspicious and perhaps they were involved after all.
10. 'No Harry, even in the wizarding world hearing voices isn't a good sign.'

Answer: Hermione Granger

Harry had been drawn to the corridor where the writing appeared because he'd been following the voice of the Basilisk (although he didn't know that was what he was hearing at the time). He was unable to explain why he was in that hallway because he was reluctant to tell anyone he'd been hearing voices.

Afterwards, when he asked if he should have come clean, Hermione and Ron were quick to assure him that remaining silent had been the wisest course.
11. 'Blimey Harry's got himself a rogue bludger. That's been tampered with that has.'

Answer: Rubeus Hagrid

In his untiring efforts to save Harry Potter by getting him to leave Hogwarts, Dobby caused a bludger to attack Harry during a Quidditch game. Harry still managed to beat Malfoy to the Snitch and defeat Slytherin.
12. 'Terrible things are about to happen at Hogwarts. Harry Potter is not to stay here now that history is about to repeat itself.'

Answer: Dobby

Lockhart accidently removed the bones in Harry's arm while trying mend the break caused by the bludger. Dobby visited Harry in the hospital while Harry was regrowing his bones and gave this dire warning, inadvertently telling Harry more than he meant to.
13. 'Caught in the act. I'll have you out this time Potter, mark my words.'

Answer: Argus Filch

Once again Harry was the first to find the petrified bodies of Nearly Headless Nick and Justin Finch-Fletchley. Filch must harbour quite a grudge against Harry's father, because he certainly seems intent on seeing Harry expelled.
14. 'Is there something you wish to tell me?'

Answer: Professor Dumbledore

Actually Dumbledore said this twice in the movie, once to Harry after Justin and Nearly Headless Nick were found paralyzed, and once to Tom Riddle in the memory sequence when Harry was drawn into the diary.
15. 'I didn't know you could read.'

Answer: Draco Malfoy

After drinking the Polyjuice Potion, Harry forgot to take his glasses off. When Malfoy saw him he assumed that he was Goyle and questioned why he was wearing glasses. Harry said that they were for reading.
16. 'I should tell you this, unless the culprit behind these attacks is caught, it's likely that the school will be closed.'

Answer: Professor McGonagall

McGonagall said this while explaining the new safety rules, after Hermione was petrified and the Quidditch match was cancelled.
17. 'If anyone was looking for some stuff, then all they'd have to do was follow the spiders.'

Answer: Hagrid

Because it had been believed that Hagrid had opened the Chamber fifty years previously, Cornelius Fudge felt compelled to remove Hagrid to Azkaban Prison, just in case he was responsible yet again. Hagrid addressed this remark to Ron and Harry, who were hiding behind Harry's invisibility cloak, as he was being led away.
18. 'Why spiders? Why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?'

Answer: Ron Weasley

Ron was very frightened of spiders. In the book he explained that this fear dated from the time when Fred and George had turned his teddy bear into a giant spider.
19. 'I fashioned myself a new name, a name I knew wizards everywhere would one day fear.'

Answer: Tom Riddle

Tom said this in the Chamber of Secrets, right after he revealed to Harry that he really was Lord Voldemort.
20. 'It is not our abilities that show what we truly are, it is our choices.'

Answer: Dumbledore

Harry was tortured by the similarities between himself and Tom Riddle, including the fact that the Sorting Hat had considered putting him in Slytherin. Dumbledore pointed out that Harry had made the choice not to be sent to Slytherin, which made him different from Riddle.
