1. Which world famous person was the inspiration for the U2 hit "Pride"?

Answer: Martin Luther King

The song is about Martin Luther King, a man who was the leader of a Civil Rights movement in the 1950's and 1960's. He is most famous for his speech "I have a dream", which he delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in 1963. He was later assassinated on April 4th, 1968.
2. Who was the inspiration to Fran Walsh, when writing the lyrics to "Into the West" which can be found on the "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" soundtrack?

Answer: Cameron Duncan

Cameron Duncan was a young filmmaker from New Zealand, he has made several award winning short films. Tragically he got cancer and died at the age of only 17. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh became friends with Cameron a while before he died, and got really close. Fran had long had problems finding the right words for "Into the West", but when Cameron died, she wrote the lyrics in his honor.

Answer: Marilyn Monroe

The song was written in honor of Marilyn Monroe, or Norma Jeane Mortensen as her true name was. She was a world famous actress, and starred in many movies from 1947-1962. Tragically she died at the age of 36 in 1962.

She was involved in several tracks on the first soundtrack, the soundtrack of "The Fellowship of the Ring".
