Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You Never Can Tell", Chuck Berry; "Son Of A Preacher Man", Dusty Springfield; "Surf Rider", The Lively Ones

Answer: Pulp Fiction

Also contains snippets of dialogue from the film..."Want some bacon?"
2. "Hot Stuff", Donna Summer; "The Zodiac", David Lindup; "Moving On Up", M People

Answer: The Full Monty

3. "Mother Nature's Son", Sheryl Crow; "I'm Only Sleeping", The Vines; "Nowhere Man", Paul Westerberg

Answer: I Am Sam

In keeping with the spirit of the film, the soundtrack consists of Beatles cover tunes--all of them very good!
4. "Sweet Emotion", Aerosmith; "Remember Me", Journey; "Wish I Were You", Patty Smyth

Answer: Armageddon

Lousy movie, excellent soundtrack.
5. "Jungle Fever", Chakachas; "God Only Knows", The Beach Boys; "Livin' Thing", ELO

Answer: Boogie Nights

Also included is "Intro (Feel the Heat)", performed by the film's stars, John C. Reilly and Mark Wahlberg. The less said about this song, the better.
6. "Sway", Bic Runga; "Glory", Sugar Ray; "The Man With the Hex", The Atomic Fireballs

Answer: American Pie

Interestingly, "Man With the Hex", one of my favorite songs on this CD, does not appear anyplace in the movie itself, though it does show up in the "Scooby Doo" movie (and on the soundtrack as well).
7. "Kiss You All Over", Exile; "Angela", Bob James; "Rose Marie", Andy Kaufman

Answer: Man On the Moon

My personal favorite from this CD is a version of "This Friendly World" (if you've seen the movie, it's the tune sung at Andy Kaufman's funeral) sung by Michael Stipe of R.E.M., Andy Kaufman (Jim Carrey) and Tony Clifton (also Jim Carrey).
8. "A Lover's Concerto", The Toys; "I Got A Woman", Ray Charles; "Imagine", John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band

Answer: Mr. Holland's Opus

The full version of "A Lover's Concerto" isn't in the film, but is used briefly by Mr. Holland in a music class.
9. "Jim Dandy", Black Oak Arkansas; "Right Place Wrong Time", Dr. John; "Highway Star", Deep Purple

Answer: Dazed and Confused

The music from this movie was so great that it spawned two soundtracks; "Right Place Wrong Time" is from the second one.
10. "If You Don't Love Me (I'll Kill Myself)", Pete Droge; "Get Ready", The Proclaimers; "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead", Crash Test Dummies

Answer: Dumb And Dumber

Another instance of lousy movie, excellent soundtrack.
11. "King of Wishful Thinking", Go West; "Show Me Your Soul", Red Hot Chili Peppers; "Life In Detail", Robert Palmer

Answer: Pretty Woman

If I had put Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love", it probably would have been a giveaway, right?
12. "Idiot Summer", Gin Blossoms; "Mary's House", 4 Non Blondes; "Y.M.C.A.", Village People

Answer: Wayne's World 2

Sadly, the sequel that should never have been made...
13. "Rebel Rouser", Duane Eddy; "Joy To the World", Three Dog Night; "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head", B.J. Thomas

Answer: Forrest Gump

Quite possibly the greatest soundtrack ever! (That's my opinion, anyway)
14. "Potato's In the Paddy Wagon", The New Main Street Singers; "One More Time", Mitch & Mickey; "Old Joe's Place", The Folksmen

Answer: A Mighty Wind

Sorry if this one was a little too obscure for you, but "A Mighty Wind" is one of my favorite soundtracks, and a fantastic movie--I urge you to check them both out!
15. "Beth", KISS; "Sweet Caroline", Neil Diamond; "Be For Real", The Afghan Whigs

Answer: Beautiful Girls

16. "Lady Marmalade", Labelle; "Come And Get Your Love", Redbone; "Crocodile Rock", Elton John

Answer: Dick

The title suggests otherwise, but this movie is actually a comedy. It takes place during the Nixon administration, so the soundtrack contains a great mix of seventies songs, as well as a cover of Abba's "Dancing Queen" by Sixpence None the Richer.
17. "Eddie", Dr. Scott; "Science Fiction Double Feature", Richard O' Brien; "I'm Going Home", Frank N Furter

Answer: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Okay, this one was probably pretty easy. The real shame is that the soundtrack does not contain Rocky's song "The Sword of Damocles". Unexcusable!
18. "Logical Song", Supertramp; "One", Aimee Mann; "Dreams", Gabrielle

Answer: Magnolia

This movie earned an Oscar nomination for Aimee Mann's song "Save Me".
19. "Revolution", R.E.M.; "Foolish Games", Jewel; "Poison Ivy", Me'shell Ndegecello

Answer: Batman and Robin

Not a bad soundtrack...but not a really good one, either.
20. "Can't Get Enough Of You Baby", Smash Mouth; "Paradise City", Guns N' Roses; "Flashlight", Parliament

Answer: Can't Hardly Wait

A surprisingly funny teen movie...and a pretty good soundtrack, too.
