Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which song features the lyrics "How I had to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day"?

Answer: Keep Yourself Alive

"Keep Yourself Alive" was Queen's first ever single taken from their debut album "Queen". It was released on Friday the 13th, July of 1973, and spent 18 weeks on the charts, unfortunately, it peaked at number 24 and didn't prove to be their big break.
2. "For the earth is old and grey, to a new home we'll away." Is from which early Queen song?

Answer: '39

"'39" is one of the few Queen songs to be both written and sung by Brian May, it was inspired by science fiction literature and was the band's thirty-ninth song! "'39" is on the band's highly acclaimed 1975 "A Night at the Opera" album.
3. Can you name the song that features the lyrics "Honey though I'm aching know just what I have to do."?

Answer: Dreamer's Ball

Another wonderful Brian May song, taken from the band's 1978 "Jazz" album.
4. "Come tomorrow, cause then we'll be waiting for the moonlight" are lyrics taken from which song?

Answer: You & I

I love this song so much, I danced to at my wedding. It's a typical Freddie Mercury song - and yet it was actually written by John Deacon! "You & I" is on the 1976 "A Day at the Races" album.
5. Which song features these poetic lyrics: "Serpent of the Nile, relieve me for a while."?

Answer: Lily of the Valley

Such a beautiful song! This one comes from the band's 1974 "Sheer Heart Attack" album and is written by, you've got it! Freddie Mercury. The outfit he had designed for his performance of this song was by Zandra Rhodes, it was his first white winged suit, preceding his famous "Bohemian Rhapsody" outfit.
6. "Come on sonny won't you sign, right along the dotted line." Comes from which song?

Answer: Sleeping on the Sidewalk

Okay, me and Brian May again. Apologies but he's such a great lyricist! This song is taken from the 1977 "News of the World" album, the same album that originally launched the smash hit singles "We Will Rock You" and "We are the Champions".
7. Which song contains the lyrics "Don't destroy what you see your country to be just keep building on the ground."?

Answer: Father to Son

An interesting song, possibly inspired by Brian's close relationship with his father, Harold. This song is featured on the 1974 album "Queen II".
8. "One foolish world, so many souls, senselessly hurled." comes from which beautiful 80's song?

Answer: Las Palabras De Amor

This beautiful song only reached number 17 in the UK charts on its release in the summer of 1982. Having watched one of the band's performances on "Top of the Pops 2" of this song, I can safely say they mimed it. This is because Roger Taylor actually sings the wrong words on one verse, suddenly realises and rolls his eyes! It's all on camera. Taken from "Hot Space", 1982.
9. Do you know which song these tormented lyrics come from? "My heart is always with you, no matter what you do."

Answer: Sail Away Sweet Sister

Written by Brian May for the 1980 album "The Game" to the sister he never had.
10. "It ain't no time for sleeping baby." Is a line from which slightly later song (from between 1980 and 1985)?

Answer: Tear It Up

Taken from the 1984 "The Works" album.

Hope you all did well. Rock on!
