Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these artists was a returning one?

Answer: Joci Pápai

Pápai previously represented his country in 2017 with "Origo", and he qualified to the final and finished in 8th place. In 2019, he represented Hungary again with "Az én apám". However, this time he failed to qualify for the final.
2. Sweden won.

Answer: False

Sweden finished in 5th place with the song "Too Late for Love" by John Lundvik. The actual winner of the contest was the Netherlands, with "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence.
3. This country originally announced their participation, but later withdrew after announcing their artist.

Answer: Ukraine

Ukraine was supposed to be represented by MARUV, with her song, "Siren Song". However, MARUV refused to go to Tel-Aviv. Because Ukraine couldn't find a replacement, they withdrew from the contest.
4. Serhat's song was called what?

Answer: Say Na Na Na

Serhat represented San Marino at the Contest. He previously represented San Marino in 2016, with "I Didn't Know". He has gained a cult following after the 2019 Eurovision.
5. One of the interval acts for the final was "Song Swap". What was this about?

Answer: former Eurovision participants performing another Eurovison song

The people who took place in this act were Verka Serduchka (2007 runner-up), Mans Zemerlow (2015 winner), Conchita Wurst (2014 winner) and Eleni Foureira (2018 runner-up).
6. Which of these countries did NOT have a national final?

Answer: Cyprus

Cyprus was a fan-favorite before the contest, however, they only finished in 13th place. They were represented by Tamta, with her song "Replay".
7. What place did Norway finish?

Answer: 6th

Norway's song, "Spirit in the Sky", was performed by the band KEiiNO. An uptempo song with elements from 80s disco music, it was one of the most popular songs before the day of the contest. KEiiNO later released a cover of "Shallow" by Lady Gaga the day after the contest.
8. Who won the Barbara Dex Award?

Answer: Portugal

The Barbara Dex Award is a humorous award, where Eurovision fans vote for the artist with the worst clothes on the website songfestival.be. It is named after Barbara Dex, a Belgian singer who represented her country in 1997, wearing a handmade dress.
Portugal was represented by Conan Osíris with his song "Telemoveis".
9. Did Belarus qualify for the Grand Final?

Answer: Yes

Belarus was represented by ZENA, a very young girl who was only 16 years old during her time of participation. Due to rumors of rigged votes, this song was not a popular one in the fanbase.
10. What was the motto of the contest?

Answer: Dare to Dream

Jon Ola Sand described the tagline as being about unity, diversity and inclusion, and he also said that it is what Netta did in 2018: daring to dream that she can win the Eurovision Song Contest.
