1. Which group produced the album "You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish"?

This question was trawled up from the depths by Wendy (wsm22).
2. Country Joe and the Fish was a band that started up in 1965. Interestingly enough, the name of the band was derived from a statement and a nickname from two well known world leaders. Who were the two leaders who inspired the band's name?

Answer: Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong

The name of the band, according to the band founder, Ed Denson, was derived from Joseph Stalin's nickname during World War II, "Country Joe" and from a statement made by China's leader of the time, Mao Zedong, who had coined a phrase about "the fish who swim in the sea of the people". The band had five successful years from 1965-1970 and were affectionately known as "the band that stopped the war in Vietnam", due to their 1967 documentary called "How We Stopped The War", a short film that followed the band on their way to an anti-Vietnam war rally.

Question submitted by Mayneeyak.
3. Who recorded the 1969 album "Trout Mask Replica"?

Answer: Captain Beefheart

Captain Beefheart (aka Don Van Vliet) was a Frank Zappa influenced musician who fronted The Magic Band in the '60s and '70s.

4. There has to be something fishy about an artist who releases a song where he sings about himself. In the late '90s, this hit reached unlucky #13 in both the UK Singles Chart, and the US Billboard Hot 100. Complete the blank in the following song title: "Are You Jimmy ____?"

Answer: Ray

A true minnow of the pop world, this one hit Wanda failed to realise that the fish theme was the secret to his success. Instead of giving his follow-up singles the titles of "Goin' to Flay Wrasse" and "I Got Rollmopped", he released the unappealing "Goin' to Vegas" and "I Got Rolled".

The song did feature the lyric "Are You Sting Ray?" Perhaps if he had also added in "Are You Manta Ray?", the track would have had even more success.

5. In 1964 Elvis Presley recorded "Do the Clam". Which album and movie did this feature in?

Answer: Girl Happy

Elvis was the star in this 1965 beach party movie. It was his last truly successful film at the box office.

6. In February of 2003, a pyrotechnic display by this hard rock bands' crew ignited a fire that killed 100 people in a Rhode Island night club including the band's guitar player. Before this incident they were best known for their song "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". What was the name of this Los Angeles group?

Answer: Great White

"Once Bitten, Twice Shy" climbed the Billboard Charts to number five in 1989, providing Great White with their only top ten hit. The Rhode Island tragedy will, unfortunately, be their legacy in music history.

This question was set by azteceinstein.
7. Ringo Starr of the Beatles didn't write many songs, but the band's "Abbey Road" album includes a song about a bottom-dwelling sea creature that George Harrison referred to as "lovely" and "peaceful". Think hard all you "fish aficionados" and Beatles fans. What's the title of the song?

Answer: Octopus's Garden

George Harrison did work with Ringo on the song, but commented later that "Octopus's Garden" was "all Ringo's song". It was only Starr's second song. The idea for it came to him when he was on a boat in 1968 that belonged to actor Peter Sellers. He was mistakenly given squid for dinner instead of fish and upon engaging in conversation with the captain about how it tasted, the captain told Ringo about how octopuses travel along the sea bottom gathering up stones and shiny objects with which to build gardens.

8. What group, in 1992 recorded the album "No More Fish Jokes"?

Answer: Walter Trout Band

"No More Fish Jokes" is a live album by Walter Trout recorded in Denmark.
He also played a few times with John Mayall, the Codfather of British Blues.

Answer: The Arrogant Worms

The Arrogant Worms formed in 1990, when the original members met at university in Ontario, Canada. They are usually classified as a folk group, and make wonderful use of black humour in their lyrics. Their fourth album was entitled "Live Bait", and released in 1997. Possibly their best known song is "Carrot Juice is Murder" which was released in 1994.

10. The awesome musical sister duo, Heart, recorded a song titled after one of the most dangerous fish in the oceans. Which of the following razor-toothed fish gave its name to this 1977 hit?

Answer: Barracuda

Heart's song "Barracuda", from their second album, "Little Queen", hit the #11 spot on the Billboard Top 100 Charts in 1977. According to Ann Wilson, the song came about as an angry rebuttal toward their record company, Mushroom Records, when they tried to cash in on a cheap publicity stunt that was to suggest that Ann and Nancy Wilson had a lesbian affair with one another. The cheap stunt failed, but the song didn't, and it's considered to be the band's signature song.
