Answer: "I Hear You Knockin" by Dave Edmunds

Dave Edmunds was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1944. In the late sixties he formed a band called Love Sculpture. In 1968 the group scored a U.K. Top 5 hit with "Sabre Dance," but broke up shortly after. He then did a few solo projects one which was releasing a Smiley Lewis cover "I Hear You Knockin'."

Answer: "Ernie(The Fastest Milkman In The West)" by Benny Hill

Born Alfred Hawthorn Hill on January 21, 1924 in Southampton, England he soon became one of the best loved comedians in Britain. After a few radio and TV shows came the birth of what is fondly regarded as a Iritish institution. In 1955 he started "The Benny Hill Show", featuring skits and songs from the saucy school of British humour.

His number 1 christmas hit was actually a sketch on this programme. Hill also appeared occasionally in films, including "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" and " The Italian Job." In the 1970s The Benny Hill Show made it to the U.S. and Hill became an international star of TV comedy until his show was cancelled in 1989.

He died a fews years later in April 1992.

Answer: "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool" by Little Jimmy Osmond

The youngest member of the renowned Osmond family, Little Jimmy Osmond had a huge hit with "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool" at the tender age of 9. It stayed at the number 1 spot for five weeks.

An all time christmas classic! A four piece band from Wolverhampton who were famous for being loud. They had a string of hits in the early '70's such as "Cum on Feel The Noize" and "Gudbye To Jane" Then in 1973 they released this Christmas belter. Even now 30 years on it is still as popular as ever.
5. Xmas number 1 in 1974?

Answer: "Lonely This Christmas" by Mud

A 1970's 'Glam Rock' band with a touch of rock and roll. They came into their own in the Glam rock era scoring hits with "Crazy", "Hypnosis", "Dyna - Mite" and "The Cat Crept in". Also "Tiger Feet" made Number 1 as did "Lonely This Christmas" and "Oh Boy"

Answer: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen

Arguably one of the greatest bands of all time. This band consisted of members Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" was originally a huge hit in 1975 where it stayed at the number 1 spot for 9 weeks including xmas. Due to the tragic and untimely death of lead singer Freddie Mercury on November 24th 1991 this record was re-released and went straight to the top of the charts for 5 weeks.

Answer: "When A Child Is Born" by Johnny Mathis

John Royce Mathis, born 30th September, 1935, Texas, US. He released his first album in 1957 and so far has had over 40 album releases. The most popular of his songs include "Misty", Too Much Too Little Too Late"(a duet with Denice Williams in 1978) and "When a child is Born" which stayed at the number one spot for 3 weeks.
8. Xmas number 1 in 1977?

After the Beatles split up in 1970, Paul McCartney embarked on a solo career before forming the group Wings with his wife, American Linda McCartney. Their biggest hit before this one was "Live And Let Die" for the film of the same name. In 1977 they released "Mull Of Kintyre" which had bagpipes playing on the song and was about an actual place in Scotland.

Boney M started in 1975 in Germany by Frank Farian. The first record by Boney M was titled "Do You Wanna Bump?", followed by the more well known and popular songs "Sunny" and "Daddy Cool". Boney M soon became a discoteque sensation.
The magic of Boney M continued throughout the following years with hits such as "Belfast", "Rivers Of Babylon", "Brown Girl In The Ring", "Painter Man"," Mary's Boy Child", "Rasputin", "Ma Baker","Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holi-Holiday" and many more...The memories just come flooding back!
